Team Zebra x
TSZebra studio was founded in 2004 so you can be sure you have chosen well and your workshop is with experts who work full time in glass. We have people returning again and again to not just create beautiful pieces but to have a relaxing and fun time away with fabulous lunches in idyllic surroundings.
Day 1/ Using basic fused glass skills you have already accomplished on the 3 day crash course Deborah will help you to design, map out and create a embossed kiln carved glass wall panel measuring 30 x 60 cms. Working on a larger layered project will open up further design possibilities as well as the ability to incorporate several disciplines all at once. Throughout your day we will introduce you to new methods, tools, stencils, liquid stringers, metals, paints, sparkling miccas & how to incorporate wire & organic elements! Please specify if you wish to work on a alternative size*
Day 2/ You will create a 25 x 25cms panel, bridge or vessel [we have several molds to choose from] We will concentrate on achieving a layered design with paint, frit & confetti as well as manipulating glass noodles to add detail to your work. We will also show you how to work with precious metals inc: platinum, silver & gold! This will be a great 'sampler' to keep and refer back to showing some of the many exciting reactions we can achieve in glass.
'Gilding' You will work on the application of 23.5 ct Gold, copper & Silver leaf to glass and how to add fine detailing to your work including text and shadow with glass engraving methods. You will work on samples before moving onto your panel - Project ready to take home on the day.
+ Bring along 4 glass bottles, washed with the labels removed. We will show you how to turn these into a fun free standing sculpture or bowl. We will also go through the simple do's & dont's of working with recycled glass with lots of hints & tips along the way!
