Beginners Fused Glass workshops at the Creative Chameleon Studio in Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
This workshop is ideal for those who fancy a relaxing and peaceful day of creativity. It is a brilliant workshop which allows participants to be introduced to the wonderful world of glass fusing. The techniques used are easy to pick up and you will create a range of beautiful glass items that can be treasured or given away as special gifts.
During the workshop you will make a set of dichroic glass jewellery combining two pieces of jewellery - pendant, brooch, ring, earrings, cuff links, you decide. You will hand-decoupage a jewellery box to keep your beautiful sparkly jewels in! On the workshop you will learn how to score and cut glass to make a hanging star and you will also create a coaster and a slump dish! All this in one day with time for a delicious lunch and with cake.
I offer these workshops to individuals and private groups, they are designed for art and craft lovers, beginners or experienced crafters, and for those who simply want to enjoy a creative day out. The workshops have proved popular with mothers and daughters, couples and family and friends who wish to spend some quality time together. Lots of participants come on their own and enjoying meeting friendly, new people.
The workshops are run from the light and airy Creative Chameleon studio in Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, the neighbouring town to Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley. Thank you Melanie for such a wonderful day learning how to make and design fused glass.
It was very well organised and Melanie is very welcoming and puts you at ease as pure beginners in fused glass.
And it’s in a lovely setting as well.
It was such a fantastic birthday present from my son.
Thoroughly recommend you try one of the many classes Melanie holds at Hebden Bridge.
The Beginners Glass Fusion course is delightful! What a lovely way to spend a day. Melanie is a fab tutor and her enthusiam for the craft she teaches is very evident. After Melanie went through the materials and processes, we couldn't wait to get started.
The class was very small, just the three of us due to Covid restrictions and every care was taken to ensure that we were safe.
Melanie's studio is full of inspiration, I wanted to have a go at making everything I saw but of course I couldn't and which is why I'll be booking another workshop.
The day passed by far too quickly, but by the end of it I had completed a star, a coaster, a slump dish and two pieces of jewellery.
Don't hesitate in booking this workshop if you have an interest in glass fusion, it's great fun and you won't be disappointed.
Just attended a beginners course, the first post-lockdown. Was impressed not only with the teaching but also the efforts to keep everyone safe. Thoroughly enjoyed the morning experience. Was so engrossed, forgot to eat the biscuits/goodies provided. Lots of inspiration around the room and am very happy with my finished bowl and jewellery. Felt I’d gained in confidence, sign of a good teacher. Already planning my next course with Melanie. Such a mindful, positive activity. I’ve recommended this to all my friends.
The craft day was very rewarding. Value for money excellent, I was surprised at how much you could do with decorating. A good idea of what you want to do is a must as I got lost in knowing what to do with so much choice. At the end of the day I had up to 5 items finished.
Attended the beginners course on Sunday 8 March 2020 and thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was so interesting and therapeutic. Melanie is an excellent teacher and we were made to feel very welcome. Lunch and refreshments were most enjoyable. Overall this was a fabulous day out participating in a craft that was completely new to me. Thanks very much Melanie and may your business go from strength to strength!
Attended this course 8 March with my family and other lovely people. Melanie was great a very welcoming tutor who balanced giving information and support in a way that enabled us to try different ways of trying the materials provided confidently. Good fun and lots of laughter. Lunch was excellent. We are planning another day with Melanie.
I attended the beginners fused glass workshop at the Quilt Cabin a couple of weeks ago. It was such a lovely day - very well organised with a lovely group of ladies & Melanie was an excellent teacher. All materials were provided , including a nice lunch & refreshments . I’ve just collected my pieces after they’ve been fired & I'm so pleased with them. An excellent day & really good value. Looking forward to another one next year.
We went along to the workshop and had a fantastic day. Melanie is an excellent teacher who guided us through every project we did. It was a fun and informative experience and we look forward to attending another course.
How fortunate we are that classes like this are offered, with projects easily accomplished by a novice or beginner under the exceptional tutelage of Melanie.
Melanie made this new-to-me art form accessible by sharing her wide variety of supplies and teaching us a number of techniques resulting in four projects. I felt confident knowing she was right beside us guiding us through the selection of colors and materials.
The class was well organized, with supplies neatly laid out, alternating instruction time with project time. She organized a lunch outing at a nearby restaurant, which was included in our class price. And had breakfast pastries and afternoon (lemon - yum!) cake for us.
My only wish is that the venue (quilt shop) had opened for an hour for the class takers to do a little browsing & shopping! But since it was a Sunday, the quilt shop owner certainly deserved a day of rest.
Fused Glass Beginners workshop....What a fabulous fun way to spend a Sunday!
Melanie was an excellent teacher, explained the processes clearly at each stage, guided us and made helpful suggestions for creating gorgeous glass decorative items and jewellery. We learnt glass cutting too - not as scary as it sounds!
The whole experience was delivered in a relaxed, friendly environment, with refreshments and a delicious lunch included too. Great workshop,we made lots of lovely items to take home once they've been fired in the kiln. Can't wait to do another one! Thanks very much Melanie.
We had a private beginners workshop for a birthday celebration on glass fusion with Melanie. The whole day was lots of fun, very creative and we all enjoyed it very much. Melanie was so friendly and helpful and gave us lots of ideas for our creations. We had refreshments and a great lunch and I would highly recommend it!
I enjoyed the beginner's fused glass workshop at the beginning of March so much that I went to the next level workshop at the end of March. Mel is an excellent teacher and makes the craft accessible to everyone, whatever your artistic talents, or lack of them, may be. Plus lovely lunch and cakes!
Brilliant day. Mel is such a wonderful, inspiring teacher. Had a great time making, creating and experimenting. So many beautiful types of glass and colourful decorations to choose from. Can't wait to see the end results! x
I absolutely loved this workshop. It was such a relaxing and creative atmosphere with Melanie who is an excellent teacher as well as a very lovely person. I would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone who is looking to start learning a new skill or simply want a day of creativity making some lovely glass pieces.
What a fab day! Loved everything about it. The venue, materials, lunch and most of all the brilliant activity! Melanie you make the day special with your organised course and talented teaching, thankyou so much. I would certainly recommend the workshop to anyone who wants a creative day doing something new (or experienced) with guidance (where needed) from Mel.
Attended this workshop yesterday....never done glass fusing before. Had a fabulous time and made some great things. Melanie is the most lovely teacher and very talented.... she was so helpful throughout the whole of the full day workshop to everyone on the course. If your wondering or considering going on this course.. dont ... just book...you won't be disappointed.. great VFM too... you get to make loads of stuff 😁
A really engaging and fun workshop, I loved it!
Melanie is a very patient teacher, and explains all of the aspects and techniques of the course very clearly. There are a lot of different pieces to make, and plenty of time to make them in. There is plenty of scope to put your own creative stamp on all of the pieces, and Melanie is good at helping out with ideas if you're struggling for inspiration.
All in all, a lovely day out, I would definitely recommend it.
My husband and I really had a great day out at this course and made some lovely and useful glass pieces. We have just hung up the stars we made for Christmas and it brought back happy memories. The whole day was excellent and we had lunch and other edible treats during the day. Melanie was so kind and helpful to everyone. This was a great course.
I actually loved this course so much that l went back and did it a second time! We got to make a range of beautiful items including a decoration and some functional pieces - l wear the jewellery all the time and people always ask me where l got it from! I love being able to say i made it myself in a course. Melanie is such a wonderful teacher, full of inspiration, enthusiasm and generally really lovely and welcoming! I also enjoyed having a trip out to a really beautiful part of the world and the food in the middle of the day was a real treat! I will definitely be back for more!
Really enjoyable, different day. We're not particularly art and hasn't done anything remotely like this before, but Melanie was really patient & supportive, and gave us time to try things out. It was amazing seeing the results the following week once they'd been in the kiln. Can't wait for the follow-on workshop in Feb!
Super friendly host and great teacher. Left feeling very inspired to learn more about Glass Fusing. Was very surprised by how much we achieved in a day. Once the firing process was complete I had a coaster, a dish, a star and some beautiful jewellery. And we had time to have a yummy lunch with cake. Great value for money, I highly recommend.
I can 100% recommend Melanie's fused glass course held at Creative with Nature in Todmorden. As a novice on the subject, I found her tutoring easy to follow and relaxed.
All materials are provided for the pieces you make and with lunch and refreshments thrown in, this is a very reasonably priced, fun day.
The booking process was straight forward and Melanie is a good communicator throughout.
Please go and do the workshop.. You will LOVE it!
I had a lovely day creating fused glass star, slump dish, coaster and earrings. Cant believe we achieved so much in one day. Lovely people and excellent instruction from Melanie hope to go to the next level workshop. Cant wait to collect my creations. Thank you all for a great day in the workshop. Julie J
What an absolutely fabulous day. I have never done glass fusing before so was nervous about how I would get on. I needn’t have worried Melanie Louise walked us through each piece. The day was relaxed and fun and we had a lovely lunch. If you are worried about going on your own don’t, I had a wonderful day. To top it off I have some lovely glass. I have already booked my next course.
My daughter and I had a brilliant time on the glass fusing workshop in May. Melanie taught us lots of new skills at a steady pace which resulted in several completed items at the end of the day. It was so well organised that there was even time for a lovely ,relaxed lunch. Would highly recommend this day . We enjoyed it so much we’re hoping to book on the follow up workshop in Oct!
This was a very enjoyable course, which covered a surprising variety of work through the day. Starting off with practising cutting glass, we made a hanging star after adding the colour. We followed this with a coaster, a slump dish and, for me, cufflinks. We also decorated a small box to put smaller items in, as others had done earrings and necklace. Lots of help was given by Melanie, the tutor, who also treated us to cake and coffee. A lovely meal was had at lunch. So much packed into one day. Looking forward to a follow on course.
This was an amazing day. I had never done any glass work before and neither had my husband who I badgered into coming with me. We both had a really brilliant day and can't wait to try out more courses. My husband keeps on talking about it and has been converted to crafts! Melanie was really patient and helpful with lots of advice and encouragement throughout the day. On top of this we enjoyed an excellent lunch with wine and cakes & coffee. Truly fantastic value and a course that I wholeheartedly recommend to all.
I did this course in January, I had never done any glass craft before. Melanie Louise showed us how to cut the glass and how to use the various techniques to decorate our pieces. There were 9 people on the course so Melanie Louise was able to spend lots of time with each of us helping and advising. We made a coaster, drop bowl, star and jewellery. It was exciting waiting to see what our work would look like after the firing so it was good to see our work on the FB as it came out of the kiln and even more exciting when it arrived at my house in the post. I was very pleased with my pieces. It was a very enjoyable day and the lunch in a local restaurant was really good too
This was a perfect way to spend a Saturday in a really creative space, with a fantastic teacher and a lovely group of people. Lunch was included, we made loads of things, brilliant value, definitely do another course with Melanie.
We had a fabulous day with Melanie. She is a very good tutor and we made lots of items on the day. I made a coaster, a dish, a star, a pendant and earings and decorated a small box.
All the materials were included as were drinks, snacks and lunch.
Melanie managed to get round the group and give loads of help and support.
Treat yourself and get booked on the next course.
Thoroughly enjoyable day. Learnt lots of techniques, great range of materials to experiment with, inspiring tuition. Relaxed, supportive environment and lovely lunch. Recommend it. A great treat for yourself or someone else!
Lovely day, really informative and well paced. Great attention to detail, fabulous food, and so many different materials to experiment with. To come away with so many finished pieces is great. Excellent value too. Highly recommended.
