I’m Melanie, I deliver a range of creative art and craft workshops from my studio in Cragg Vale, near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. As an artist and craftsperson, I enjoy playing with fused glass and textiles. I’m inspired by the array of colour and texture found in nature. I’m a fully qualified secondary school Art and Design teacher with a BA Hons Degree in Fashion and Textiles. A workshop with Crafts in the Valley is a special day out, learn creative skills and de-stressing! We refer to it as Creative Escapism.

"Not got the finished article yet but had a fabulous morning creating my lantern, Melanie is lovely, explained everything really well and supplies a great selection of designs to choose from. The edible treats were an unexpected bonus, yum! Will definitely attend further workshops here in the future."

"Brilliant course, I did it with my mother in law and we both want to come back and do another one. Melanie is a great teacher and kept us plied with cups of tea and cake, and it was really fun making the birds. I love my birds - I think it’s impossible to make fused glass that doesn’t look beautiful. "

"I came with a friend Cath and we had never done Batik before. Melanie was wonderful and put us at ease. She explained the craft and we came away with 2 lovely pictures each. She was a wonderful hostess with plenty of coffee cake and biscuits. Workshop is in a really nice setting with gorgeous views of the countryside. Overall a very rewarding day."
