Fused Glass Winter Birds. A festive half day class, morning and afternoon sessions available. These workshops take place at my studio in Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. This workshop is a lovely three hour Christmas workshop which will introduce you to the magic of fused glass. In the workshop you will create decorate three pre-cut glass birds with a range of fused glass materials. As an extra treat, you can also create two pieces of dichroic glass jewellery, or a forth bird! You will then be given the base shape of your glass birds, which you can decorate using powdered frits and stencils. Extra detail can be added using glass jewels, millefiori beads, cut glass shapes and stringers. You will have access to top quality glass fusing materials. Maximum 8-9 participants, so lots of personal support is available if you need it. This workshop is very suitable for beginners and for those who have completed fused glass workshops previously. Your fused glass work will be fired and ready for collection 1-2 weeks later. Postage costs extra.

This workshop includes refreshments, mince pies, mulled wine, all materials, jewellery fittings and firing.

I’m Melanie, I deliver a range of creative art and craft workshops from my studio in Cragg Vale, near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. As an artist and craftsperson, I enjoy playing with fused glass and textiles. I’m inspired by the array of colour and texture found in nature. I’m a fully qualified secondary school Art and Design teacher with a BA Hons Degree in Fashion and Textiles. A workshop with Crafts in the Valley is a special day out, learn creative skills and de-stressing! We refer to it as Creative Escapism.
