I have been on numerous evening courses run by Martin, so booked this one day introduction to fused glass. It was excellent. Well taught and delivered and at a very good venue.

Valerie Peacock - - #36914

I thoroughly enjoyed my first Glass Fusion course. Martin was a brilliant teacher, with very clear guidance and advice in what we needed to know to achieve a good result. The 5 hours went so fast and I would love to repeat it again in the future. If you are wondering about it then go for it, you'll enjoy it I'm sure, even if you don't think you're creative. I can't wait to see my pieces

Carl and Helen Hitchens - - #36667

Fantastic course to teach you all the basics for glass fusing. Martin was informative, very helpful and a great pace to the session. We got to create lots of different glass pieces. If you are creative and like trying something new this is the course for you.

Jane - - #36660

I spent a throughly enjoyable 5 hours at Martin's workshop. As a complete novice I was not sure how successful I would be, but Martin was a fabulous teacher. Within minutes we were cutting glass and within the hour had our first piece made. It was a perfect way to be in the moment, to leave the hustle of life outside the studio. Martin was supportive but allowed you the freedom to be creative with a range of materials in a rainbow of colours. Can't wait to see my fired pieces. If you are sitting on the fence about this course, get signed up!

Liz - - #36657

Attended my first (and won’t be my last) glass fusing day with Martin. Excellent well organised workshop, very clear, precise and simple instructions to follow. Martin was on hand for help and advise but you were given the space to be as creative as you wanted with a large selection of different materials to use. Amazing how much you learn and get to make in the 5 hours, the time just flew by. If your reading this review..go for it you certainly won’t be disappointed 😊

Jane London - - #36628

I attended my first fusing glass experience with Martin on 23rd January. The day was thoroughly enjoyable. Martin is an excellent teacher, explained everything you need to know to create your own individual pieces. The class was a great opportunity to try something different. I loved it. Want more.😁

Diane - - #36622

I was bought CraftCourse vouchers for my birthday and chose to do a Fused Glass workshop with Martin at Martin McAssey Glass. I was a bit nervous as I don't consider myself especially creative and I was also attending on my own. However, I needn't have worried - I had a great day! Martin was clearly very knowledgeable and helpful, but also allowed us develop our own style as we progressed through our pieces. I didn't feel awkward at all - in fact, I was so into my 'creations', I barely looked up and time flew by. Martin had a great array of materials and we could take inspiration from items Martin had on display or choose our own designs. We made several different pieces on the day and I can't wait to see how they turn out after firing! Hopefully I'll have some lovely personal pieces.
I would thoroughly recommend this activity. I had a great time and it was fantastic value for money. The workshop is also easy to get to and had plenty of parking.

Katharine and Elspeth - - #35437

A lovely day. We both really enjoyed ourselves.Learnt lots, the time shot by. We both said we would love to do it all again but now with some more knowledge and ideas. Martin was very helpful and clear with all the instructions and we had all the materials and equipment we needed. Brilliant day!!

Peter and Anita - - #35389

We joined the Introduction to Fused Glass course and had a great time. Martin provided clear guidance in a friendly and relaxed environment with a well equipped workshop and lots of materials to chose from. We had some ideas of what to make but Martin also provided ideas and advice so that we completed the session with a number of items and a lot of learning. We definitely recommend this course if you want to try making some items and learning what is involved.

Judy Mckendrick - - #35361

It was a really enjoyable day, and Martin was happy to allow my 13 year old grand daughter to come also. We both really loved the day. It is very well organised, and Martin is welcoming, most pleasant and an excellent teacher. We hope to come again. We found the whole day relaxing, and a wonderful opportunity to bring out the creative side in us both! Thank you, Martin.

Fused Glass One Day Workshop:
Loved every minute of it!! Had previously attended a one day workshop and produced a beautiful piece with the lovely Kate. It was nice to meet Martin this time who was just as lovely. Both very welcoming and very quickly made me feel at ease. I was thrilled with the pieces I made and can't wait to see how they look once they have been fired. Excited :-) !!! Thank you for such an enjoyable day, can't wait to do another *****

Trevor Evans Lindsay - - #35017

What a great day, Martin made us all feel very welcome. He gave us all great instruction and with his guidance we were able to produce some lovely pieces of work.
The day was full on and good value. Can't wait to collect my work. This is the second workshop I have attended with Martin McAssey Glass, the first was the Traditional Leaded Stained Glass workshop, which was equally great. I'm hoping to book the Tiffney Glass next year. Highly recommended.

Heather - - #34965

This course is energising , fun and immersive, a complete detox after a hard week at work, thank you. Martin structures the day well with demonstrations then lets you get on with it, advising when asked for. As a complete novice and not being particularly arty, he was reassuring and I was delighted with what I managed to complete and inspired with ideas for another workshop. Looking forward to seeing them after they've been fired.

Glen - - #34962

Attended this course yesterday, a total novice. Martin was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The course was excellent, I was very surprised by the amount of pieces that we produced. I would thoroughly recommend it, and am looking forward to returning in the future. Thank you Martin.

sarah power - - #34439

This was a fantastic workshop. Martin is a great teacher. We learnt a lot and all produced a number of pieces. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Margaret Everley - - #33989

Another enjoyable, fun day and at the end the excitement of waiting to see how the pieces turn out.Martin is excellent at putting people at their ease and giving them the confidence to try their new skills and develop their ideas so there is always a mixture of new comers and returnees - like me!

Sue Withey - - #33905

An excellent course in a covid safe venue. Martin has ensured that each attendee has their own personal area and tools. The tuition is of an excellent standard, appropriate to those completely new to fused glass and those with some experience. Martin supplies a wide range of beautiful resources that are all included in the course payment. The workshop is within the grounds of Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, a delightful place with easy parking and access to a small cafe. A truly delighful, relaxing day, highly recommended.

Kirsty - - #33892

I had such a fantastic time today learning/relearning how to create Fused glass pieces. Martin was so helpful and happy to advise me on anything I needed. I can't wait to collect my pieces. This was such a lovely day I'd like to do it again.

Rowena - - #33779

Martin was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the day, I had an absolutely brilliant time. He provided all the tools and equipment and was happy to offer advice, but he also let you go in your own direction with each piece if you wanted to. The number of pieces you are able to make in one day is brilliant and I would love to do this workshop again! 100% would recommend!

Jo Quinn - - #33628

Martin is an excellent tutor. He’s very patient, knowledgeable and friendly. Martin encouraged us to be creative and as we want to be, is on hand to after advice and encouragement. Martin has adapted the working area to make it covid safe and provides plenty of sanitiser for use all day, but in no way does this make the day less interactive. You have the chance to make lots of pieces so lots of opportunities to experiment with all the techniques Martin shows you. I would absolutely recommend this one day course to anyone and don’t worry if you don’t think you are creative you will be with Martin’s help.

Maggie Proctor - - #33040

A very interesting and enjoyable day learning and practicing new skills. Martin is very welcoming and sensitive to individual needs. I was impressed by the range of materials he supplied and how much we achieved in a day!

Lisa - - #33017

I had a lovely day at Martin's fused glass workshop. He was very knowledgeable about his craft and showed us several different styles of glass art that we could create. After explaining the processes, we were able to select from a wide range of colours and glasses to make our own unique creations under his guidance. I had sufficient time to make a set of coasters, a bowl and a hanging piece of wall art.
A thoroughly enjoyable day in a wonderful location.

Would definitely recommend as relaxed introduction to glass art.

Kelly - - #33000

I also did this workshop 8 months ago, thoroughly enjoyed it the first time and again the srcond time. I went with more ideas this time and Martin advised and offered guidance thoughout the day.
Highly recommended

Helen - - #32891

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Martin was excellent with his explanations of techniques, advice and guidance. I have never worked with glass before but the day was so informative and has given me inspiration for a new and exciting hobby. I didn’t think I was arty but I was proud of my achievements from the day.
I would definitely recommend this course to others.

Liz Philpott - - #32877

Really enjoyable day with an excellent teacher. We used a variety of glass techniques and it was like being in a sweet shop with many different colours & sizes of glass to use. Great value for money and suitable for all ages and abilities.

Gill Winks - - #30049

Martin made us all welcome and showed us lots of techniques with plenty of chance to practise them. Really enjoyed the day.
Covid precautions worked well and would certainly be interested in returning.
Good value for money, I made a bowl, 4 coasters and about 8 light- catchers. Martin is a nice guy!

Judy - - #27755

Great day, good fun and scope to be creative. Martin is an excellent tutor. I highly recommend this and all his other courses

Helen - - #27469

Having never worked with glass before I didn't really know what to expect. The workshop was excellent, Martin was a great tutor and the day exceeded my expectations. I was amazed by how much we made during the day. I will be booking again.

Catherine - - #27441

The course was well organised & Martin is a good tutor. I have never worked with glass before and I was amazed how many pieces I produced. I loved it.

Kay Duckmanton - - #27435

My husband bought this 1 day fused glass class for Christmas for my daughter Becky and myself. Both of us had a brilliant time and I would recommend it to anyone interested in trying something new as a hobby. We both had no past experience and were a little nervous to begin with. Martin put us both at ease. He had a brilliant way of teaching whilst at the same time allowing us to find our own individual style. The class sizes were just right and before we knew it we were chatting with others and enjoying sharing our ideas and achievements. The time flew by. Becky couldn’t wait to ask what we were going to try next. Thank you Martin. I will be in touch soon to arrange another visit.

Margaret Everley - - #27421

This was my second fused glass workshop as I was hoping to build on the experiences gained in the first one and it didn't disappoint. A completely absorbing day, Martin is an excellent tutor and always sensitive to each individual's needs. The atmosphere was always relaxed and nonthreatening and everyone was encouraged to develop their ideas and Martin was quick to give further explanations and help when necessary.

I would thoroughly recommend this workshop to anyone whether they are familiar with glass work or not.

Jane walsh - - #27419

This is another of Martin's courses that my husband and myself have attended and yet again it has been amazing. We will be booking on other courses with Martin. We’ve already done two x 12 week courses and a Christmas fused glass course and we just can’t get enough of them.
Fabulous hobby to do together.

Alison - - #20292

Really enjoyable day. Clear concise instruction, help when needed but never intrusive. I got so much done in the time and immediately booked a second day (which was just as enjoyable). Very happy with the results and would highly recommend it to anyone of any artistic level.

Helen - - #20235

Got bought a gift voucher to go on the one day fused glass course and I loved it! All the equipment was organised and available, Martin was patient and knowledgeable and created a relaxed atmosphere to get creative right from the start. Would recommend to anyone!

Elinor Lunn - - #19007

I attended Martins fused glass course with my mum, we both really enjoyed ourselves and can not wait to see the finished pieces once they have been fired.
Martin is an excellent glass worker and teacher. We have both learned new skills on this course.
I would highly recommend the course, I know I will be attending other glass courses run by Martin.

Alan Caunt - - #19005

Exactly as advertised A fun day providing an introduction to the techniques involved in the creation of fused glass pieces. Martin is an excellent teacher and also makes a good cup of tea!! I look forward to seeing the coasters, bowl and sun catcher in due course.

Pauline - - #19004

My first experience of working with such a variety of fused glass materials. A well formulated course, no pressures, excellent tuition and so interesting. After doing stained glass in Martins’s excellent courses previously, I was amazed at the results over a one day course. So many different materials. I can’t wait to see the fired results. Would thoroughly recommend this Day course, no previous experience necessary.

Karen Wallace - - #18418

I attended an introduction to fused glass workshop run by Martin. Not having attended a workshop before I was a bit unsure of what to expect but I needn't have worried. The workshop is held in a beautiful location and the facilities in the room were fantastic. Each person has an individual work-bench with all the tools required in the glass fusing process so no having to share and wait for people to finish. Martin has a huge amount of experience in working with glass and was an excellent tutor - clear instructions and on hand to help. There was no pressure to complete a certain amount so everyone could go at their own pace. Overall I absolutely loved it and will definitely be booking another workshop.

Naomi - - #18125

A really great day. Bought this for my Mum's birthday and we both thoroughly enjoyed the day. No prior knowledge or skills needed. We made a number of fused glass pieces - suncatchers, coasters and a bowl. I use the coasters everyday and I still think they look fab!

Kay - - #16744

Really good course conducted in a friendly and encouraging environment. There are plenty of books and examples of completed projects available for inspiration. All materials and tools are provided in a designated workshop with plenty of adjacent parking. Refreshments and toilet facilities available next door throughout the day in a nice clean cafe and drinks available in the workshop.
Course started with instruction on how to cut glass shapes and layer pieces to make a sun catcher, then progresses to cutting and encapsulating foil and paper designs,, using glass powders and glass shapes to make coasters and a bowl.
Martin is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and patient teacher who encourages participants to develop their own creative ideas. By the end of the class everyone had produced several pieces with an amazing variety of styles and techniques. We all enjoyed the course and were left wanting more. Highly recommended.

Debbie/Shirley/Sam - - #15495

Fantastic course - such fun, thoroughly recommend it to others!!!

Martin is so knowledgeable, and the course was well resourced and structured to introduce us to many different techniques you can use in fused glass artwork - each new skill building on the previous one. It was challenging and satisfying all rolled into one

We all came away with multiple glass sun catchers, glass coasters, encapsulated fused glass and a glass bowl which was great value for money.

Thank you Martin - we are all now addicted!

Gilly Skeemer - - #15462

Attended this course with my husband hoping to get him to explore and get involved in my love of all glass crafts and especially the art of fusing glass. My objectives were met. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day, learned a lot and had fun doing so. The only downside was that the day flew. Well done Martin for presenting this opportunity and creating a brilliant course. The atmosphere was relaxed and we came away very happy. The pieces we made all turned out well. We are using the coasters already.
