About the Course
I am running classes in glass fusing for up to 6 people at a time for beginners and those who have done it a few times before. Bring a friend - it is great fun to have fellow learners to bounce ideas off. The one-off lesson is suitable for people who want to learn the basic techniques of a new craft which might lead to a new hobby. It is a great gift idea for someone who enjoys trying new things! I can also come out to your workplace or home to run the taster class for a larger group of people - a great way to reward staff or have a team-building session!
Glass fusing is where layers of coloured glass are cut, put into a kiln and fused together to make jewellery, coasters or decorative window hangings (sun-catchers) etc. Glass comes in many forms and cutting is not always needed and you don't need any artistic ability! I provide plenty of ideas for inspiration.
Here is the detail:
• 1-1 or 1-2 or 1-3 or 1-4 etc. tuition can be arranged at a time to suit you throughout the year. (Age 10+)
• A 2 hour lesson costs £45 for an individual (or £80 for 2 people, £115 for 3 people or £150 for 4 people together) and will include the glass materials and metal inclusions, jewellery fixings and the firing of 1 piece of jewellery and either a sun-catcher or coaster (often time for more small pieces too) which will be ready to collect in 1-2 weeks. (Postage can be arranged at cost if preferred.)
• The studio is equipped with a large range of coloured glass in different sizes and formats, various metal inclusions, kiln fibre, appropriate tools and safety equipment and an electric kiln.
• You can bring an idea of what you might like to have a go at making - Pinterest is really useful for ideas. If you have a particular project you want to try out (e.g. sun-catcher or coaster) then we will discuss how you can achieve that in the time available.
· We can investigate how layering, texture and colour combinations can achieve different effects.
· Exploring the use of metal (and other materials) for inclusions, including the use of kiln fibre.
· Creating individual pieces as gifts for friends and family.
· You might have tried it before and want to try some new techniques.
So why not get in touch? Book now for a friend or, better still, book for yourself and a friend and then you can arrange a date and time to suit you both. A craft lesson makes a great unusual gift for a fun creative activity to do together. You can get in contact to arrange a date and time that would suit. I am fairly flexible for evenings or daytime slots. I also have some small group class dates set where you can join others. The classes are usually 2 hours but I am flexible and open to longer classes.
*If you need to cancel a glass class booking I can give you full refund for cancellation up to 14 days before the event but if a cancellation is less than 14 days notice before the event, then I can only refund part of the payment unless a replacement can be found. No refunds for cancellation within 48 hours of the start of the class.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
I offer you a tea or coffee at the start and all materials and equipment are provided as well as the firing of all your pieces after the class.
Went with my Mum as our Birthday gifts to each other! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learned so much. We could happily have stayed all day and 'played' as the possibilities are endless. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to try something different regardless of whether you feel you are creative or not. I'm hooked!!! Thank you Sarah.

We would highly recommend the glass fusing taster lesson with Sarah.
Sarah is friendly and very informative and explained all the various processes. There is a large range of materials to choose from and we were very pleased with our 4 different items that we both made.
Thank you Sarah for a brilliant afternoon.

A thoroughly absorbing and enjoyable experience. Sarah takes the time to explain everything very well and the relaxed atmosphere she creates will bring out the artistic side that you never knew you had!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first two hour session making a pendant, a Christmas decoration and a sun catcher and was delighted with the result. I was more confident with a second session and had more of a plan of what I wanted to do. Sarah was so helpful and accommodating without "taking over". I made a larger sun catcher which sits beautifully in a small round window and some more Christmas decorations which are so simple to do and very effective. I would heartily recommend this course to anyone - it is great fun!

My sister, her daughter and granddaughter were visiting Worcester for the week so we teamed up with my daughter too and booked the pottery & glass workshop day. This is the first time we had all done anything like this and our ages varied from 56 down to 11. We couldn't have booked a more suitable and fabulous day for us all!! We all thoroughly enjoyed both the glass making and the pottery. We particularly enjoyed the lunch too! Wow! Delicious! One of our party is gluten free and Sarah and Chris were happy to accommodate this.
I can seriously recommend this day for anyone who wants to try something new. I'm collecting our creations this week and very excited to see how they all turned out.
Thank you Chris and Sarah for your patience and talents. Well worth the money.

My friend and I has a really enjoyable morning with Sarah learning all about glass fusion. Would totally recommend this course and Sarah allows you great freedom to design all your own pieces with a variety of materials and previous pictures to choose from.
So looking forward to going again and making some more lovely pieces.

I bought this for my wife’s birthday and she was so thrilled with it. We both went and had 2 hrs of really interesting introduction to glass fusion techniques and came away with a number of beautiful coasters/stirrers/wall plaques.
Enjoyed it so much that I may even buy my own kiln!

I did a half-day session with a friend and wished it could go on for a week! It was quite a meditative experience for me, wonderful to be able to focus on the task, yet with Sarah’s lovely supportive company and expertise on hand. Highly recommended.

There were five of us on the one day pottery and glass course. We split into two groups: my sister-in-law and I spent the morning with Sarah, who introduced us to the art of glass fusing, whilst the others tried their hand at the potter’s wheel with Chris.
We broke the day with Sarah’s delicious homemade lunch then swapped workshops in the afternoon.
Despite the fact we were all novices, we were thrilled with our creations and came away with an array of goodies from decorated pots to Christmas tree decorations, and lots more besides. The sessions were well-organised, informative and good fun. Chris and Sarah’s expertise and enthusiasm for their work was clear. I highly recommend both workshops to anyone who would like to try a new skill, develop existing skills further or simply recharge their batteries by doing something mindful and completely different. I can’t wait to come back ...

My third visit and my daughter’s second. Thoroughly enjoyed our time and can’t wait to collect our finished pieces. Lovely relaxing afternoon. Thank you Sarah x

My children bought me this course for my 60th birthday. Wasn't sure what to expect so turned up with no expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Sarah took time to find out what I wanted to achieve, explain the processes I would need and demonstrate them. We had a joint interest in the Worcester Warriors and so I chose to make a coaster, cuff links etc around this theme. Sarah's relaxed approach was just what was needed. Her use of the microwave showed that it would be possible to make many items without a heavy investment in a kiln thus making it possible for people to try the hobby without a big outlay.
I thoroughly recommend the course for anyone looking for a new hobby.

My friend and I joined one of Sarah's workshops this morning and we absolutely loved it. We had both done a couple of fusing classes previously and wanted to do more. Sarah's class was no disappointment. We did so much in the time and people who had done nothing produced beautiful pieces. I can't wait to see my fired work. She is someone who loves what she does and it shows. I will be going back as I want to try more jewellery work. I will also be going to her husband, Chris who is a potter. Friendly, welcoming and inspiring. Thank you!

Wow - I went yesterday, it was such fun. We made so much, now I didn't think I was artistic, but the freedom and possibilities were endless. There is definitely something for everyone. If your thinking about it - do it - you wont be disappointed.

Thank you so much Sarah, for a wonderful afternoon in your gorgeous (and warm!) studio. I am not creative at all, and I was so surprised at how easy, with Sarah's help, it was to make a couple of decorations and a piece of jewellery. I had so much fun and really enjoyed myself. Sarah is an excellent teacher, and has a wide range of materials to use. I will definitely be booking in again soon for another session!

Glass Fusing - Fun, Creative and Excellent Value
A warm welcome was given to Heather and myself as we slightly nervously entered Sarah 's Studio .
The organisation and availability of materials were impressive. We were taught well and give freedom to make a piece of jewellery . I thoroughly enjoyed making my Snowman Decoration and will think fondly of the course when I use my pretty cocktail stirrer in my gin!
I valued being in a relaxing and creative environment. I learnt about the crafting skills needed and I valued the way we were led through the two hours
Thank you and good luck for Sarah's next exhibition .
I unreservedly recommend Sarah's class.

I had an fantastic time on this course; Sarah showed me several techniques and finished products as inspiration then let me get creating using the wide variety of materials she had. I managed to finish a few pieces, which Sarah helped me to perfect, and I can't wait to see how they look after being fired in the kiln! I would highly recommend this course to anyone - either complete beginner or early learner. You will love it!

I booked a 2 hour Taster Lesson on a one to one basis with Sarah on the spur of the moment. Sarah was so welcoming and put me at ease immediately. I was apprehensive about glass cutting, but I need not have worried, I actually only cut glass twice during the lesson and that was only to see if I could! There are so many different forms of glass not to mention colours to use I was spoilt for choice!
Sarah explained the process extremely well and I made my first pendant which went in the microwave kiln! Brilliant as you get to see the results before leaving the two hour lesson, although it does need to continue cooling and Sarah attaches a bale to complete the pendant for your collection or packaging and posting to you.
I became quite creative! I had plenty of time to make two suncatchers and two pendants in my taster. I would recommend the lesson to anyone who is either not sure if they will enjoy it or perhaps is unsure of being able to do it. Sarah is very knowledgeable and a very good communicator which results in a very enjoyable and creative atmosphere.
I cannot wait to collect my pieces and have another go! Watch out...it is addictive! I'm thinking of getting a kiln now!

Sarah's course was like the alchemy of her glasswork; simple, brilliant and fun! Her attention to detail, kindness and generosity with her time and knowledge made the course such a wonderful experience. With Sarah's guidance it seems I'm quite creative. Who knew!! Cannot wait to see how everything else turns out and look forward to the next course in August! Thank you very much. Nicki x

Really enjoyed my starter lesson, which was a gift from the husband. Sarah was very friendly and welcoming, and the studio was lovely to work in. Lots of different materials to use, and Sarah described everything really well. I'd more than happily go back again and have another go, to try out different ideas. Looking forward to seeing my finished pieces!

A fairly heavy layer of overnight snow tried to dampen (and chill) our spirits, but we were greeted with a steaming hot cup of tea/coffee and a warm workshop, so we were not deterred.
Sarah was great at making us feel welcome and we were soon busy learning how to cut glass. Before we knew it we had made a simple pendant, and were even able to see it being fired in a mini-microwave kiln. It was good to be encouraged to take before and after photos (so do have your camera ready) as it is lovely to see the transformation from fairly rough cut glass to a smooth, finished piece.
We then set about making a sun-catcher. There were plenty of different resources to use, not just glass, so we had a good range of colours and items to be able to blend into our pieces. The atmosphere was relaxed and encouraging. Sarah was good at guiding whilst encouraging us to do what we wanted - not what she thought we should do. This must be a fine balance and I think she did this well. The two hours flew by.
Within a couple of days we were able to pick up our pieces at a time convenient to us.
I would thoroughly recommend this course to those who are novices to those who have dabbled a little too. Thank you Sarah

The 'Glass Fusing' Course was a surprise birthday gift and what a wonderful surprise it was too! The two hours seemed to go quickly. I have never experienced glass fusing yet I found the course both interesting and enjoyable, different to other experiences I have had such as sewing and painting. The instructor was very knowledgeable, amenable and helpful, her explanations were clear.
A very creative course: I had a great feeling of achievement by making a coaster, a pendant and for extra fun - a cocktail twirler!!
Lovely items on display to inspire and give you ideas to further boost your creativity.
I would recommend this course.
Patricia Blurton - - #13689
Sarah is a great teacher, allowing free reign of her amazing workshop to use a wide range of materials to make a number of glass items.
The two hours went really quickly and I came away with creations that I can put on show.
Brilliant value and highly recommended

I was bought this taster session by my brother and sister in law for Christmas . What a great idea. Never done anything like this before . I went with my bestie and we had Sarah's undivided attention as she taught us how to make our own jewellery and glass items. She explained about all the different types of glass and how to use them. Thoroughly enjoyed it , its quite tricky at first but very creative. The pieces came out really well . I made a pendant, a bracelet and a beach scene to hang in the window. Hayley made a ring, a pendant and glass to hang up in the window. Great fun and would definitely recommend her class. A fun way to try something different.

I went along with a friend to the taster lesson. This was my first experience of glass fusing and has been a fun start.
Sarah began the session with an introduction to the basic glass cutting tools and techniques. Then she demonstrated layering to make a simple piece of jewelry. Whey my pendant was being fired in the microwave kiln, she explained different fusing materials and their unique effects.
I'm pleased with what I could achieve in 2 hour. Meanwhile I'm fascinated by the broad subject of glass fusing. I've managed to use 2 fusing materials for my sun catcher; I'd love to see my friend's which used materials different from mine. Since the course, I try to learn about from a couple of websites and I'm considering of taking more sessions to try out different fusing materials.
