Pottery wheel throwing & glass fusing 1-day course
Description
Chris Greening runs classes in pottery and I (Sarah) run classes in glass fusing and enamelling separately (you can find our other classes on Craft Courses). Jointly, we offer a combined 1-day course (half-days are also available - please see our other listings) in our workshop/studio in Worcester. This makes a great activity for families or friends - we often get generations of family booking a day out together or groups of friends for a birthday celebration or couples wanting a shared experience for an anniversary etc. (Ages 10+ accompanied). There are different price options for 1 person, 2 people or 3 people etc - see Booking Options. The day (10.30am-4pm) will include half a day of pottery class (with a wheel each) and half a day of glass fusing with a ploughman’s type buffet lunch and breaks for tea/coffee. Pottery: You will have a wheel each with full tuition. In the session you'll have time to make a few bowls on the wheel and then decorate them with coloured slips. Chris will fire them once dried and glazed which takes 2-3 weeks. Glass: You will be shown the basics of glass fusing and a wide array of materials available. In the session you'll have time to create about 3-4 items of your choice: jewellery, coaster, sun-catcher, Christmas decorations, cocktail stirrers etc. Sarah will fire them for you and fix jewellery bails which takes about 1-2 weeks. You can choose a day for a private group of 2 to 8 people (max. 4 in each class) on a date to be arranged between us (my calendar may not be completely up-to-date so do ask!) The cost for the whole day is per person and includes all materials and the firing of your pieces (for collection in approximately 2-3 weeks)(postage can be arrange at a cost). Each day will need a minimum of 2 people in order to run. If your booking is for 2 or more people then we will make it a private booking - you might meet another group over lunch doing the course the other way round but your classes will be for your group alone. What's included in the price?
For the whole day course lunch is included (help yourself buffet-style: breads, cheeses, salads, pate etc) and tea and coffee throughout the day. All materials and equipment are provided. Pottery can get a bit messy (aprons are provided) so bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty!

I love sharing my enthusiasm for fusing glass and using my experience to help people make a few pieces they are proud to display at home! I have a small studio where I make my own glass jewellery to sell via shops and galleries and I can teach up to 6 people at the studio in Worcester. I prefer small groups so that I can give each person the individual attention they need to make their creations - I have plenty of examples for those stuck for ideas!
