This is a full day introduction to working with glass, both kiln fused and flame worked. To begin we will use an oxy-propane lampwork torch and make several styles of glass beads, pull stringers and twists. We will then move on to cutting sheet glass to make a fused glass project using the stringers and twists you made on the torch, a small bowl, a Christmas decoration or your choice. Finally we will move back to the lampwork torch and try glass blowing. A Christmas bauble or small pendant. Everything made on the day will be posted to you after they have been annealed in our kiln. We aim to run the course 10am – 5:30pm with a break for light refreshments but times are flexible around your needs. Ruth and Andy Harrison are full time, self-taught lampwork and fused glass artists with over 15 years of experience based in Burton-On-Trent. We discovered lampworking and then fusing almost by accident, it was a hobby for a little while before quickly becoming a full time job, and obsession.
