About the Course
This is a full day intensive course to give you an introduction to bead making and lampwork.
All aspects of glass bead making for beginners will be covered, tools & equipment, health & safety, types of glass etc followed by demonstration and practice of basic tasks such as pulling stringers and making various types of basic beads.
At the end of the course you will have made several styles of bead and be familiar with the tools and equipment of bead making and how to use them safely. All beads made on the day will be posted to you after they have been annealed in our kiln.
We aim to run the course 10am - 5:30pm with a break for light refreshments but times are flexible around your needs. Weekend dates are available but limited, we will contact you after purchase to book the date.

An amazing and informative day. Ruth and Andy are smashing people, we'd met them at a Craft Fair and got chatting and decided on a day course. You are instantly welcomed into their home, if you don't mind dogs Bentley will welcome you too :-) They are so enthusiastic about their craft, and give you as much information as you can soak up. Making the glass beads was amazing, I love the way the glass behaves when it's hot. Cutting the glass ready for fusing was a little more frustrating but that was down to us, not Andy! A brilliant day, might not be setting up ourselves, but I think I'll be back for another session with Ruth at some point. All this, and a great lunch too :-)

My mother and I attended the one day course. Being complete beginners we needed all the help and advice that we were given, but we were soon making some wonderful beads.
Ruth and Andy are wonderful teachers and very patient when things were not going right! but we got there in the end.
I am all fired up to get producing on my own, if only I can find somewhere safe and quiet to work.
A very good fun day and excellent value for money. Plus a delicious homemade lunch ;)

I spent an amazing two days with Ruth and Andy. I was a complete beginner and they were both patient and generous teachers. I made a snowman, Christmas Bauble and loads of beautiful beads. I learnt so much and was 'buzzing' when I had finished. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

My daughter and spent an enjoyable day, we learnt several different techniques, and feel confident that we know enough to start, albeit, tentatively, out on our own. Ruth couldn't have been more encouraging.

My sister and I had a wonderful day learning so many things. We were both new to lampwork and the course was tailor made to our needs and the techniques we were keen to learn. Many thanks.

A wonderful 2 days, as absolute beginners we learnt so much. Ruth and Andy were so generous with the information they gave us and they tailor made the course to meet our individual needs. The notes they gave us will serve as a useful reminder of the processes we covered when we set up our own workshop.
