"Ruth was a calm and patient teacher with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Working with blobs of molten glass was way out of my comfort zone but Ruth introduced the techniques slowly, incrementally and safely. I chose the style of beads and glass colour, and I successfuĺy made eight beads. A tasty home made lunch was included. I enjoyed my day and I thoroughly recommend this course."

"A really enjoyable day course! Ruth is a friendly, intelligent and entertaining person to spend a day with. I found the course very well thought out and prepared. Ruth has a fantastic way of explaining not only what you should do but why, what the effects will be if you do or don't and where you can deviate safely. Ruth was very on the ball and I felt very safe with the equipment. I really loved that I was able to pick my own colours and designs within what I had learnt by the end of the course. All round excellent course with great communication before the course too. I'm very excited about receiving my beads :) "

"I absolutely loved this course. Ruth was thorough, friendly and a really excellent teacher. She ran things at exactly the right pace and was full of fascinating stories and extra information about glass, techniques, tools and her experiences. One of the things I enjoyed the most was the meditative state that you get into when you're watching the beautiful molten glass. The course has inspired me to keep learning and practicing. "An amazing and informative day. Ruth and Andy are smashing people, we'd met them at a Craft Fair and got chatting and decided on a day course. You are instantly welcomed into their home, if you don't mind dogs Bentley will welcome you too :-) They are so enthusiastic about their craft, and give you as much information as you can soak up. Making the glass beads was amazing, I love the way the glass behaves when it's hot. Cutting the glass ready for fusing was a little more frustrating but that was down to us, not Andy! A brilliant day, might not be setting up ourselves, but I think I'll be back for another session with Ruth at some point. All this, and a great lunch too :-)"

"Andy and Ruth at Kalypso Glassworks were fantastic. It was my first attempt at lampwork. I took the morning class, which started at 10am. Andy went over safety and the basics of lampwork beadmaking. Then Ruth took over to patiently walk me through making a few beads. They were both very friendly, knowledgeable and fun to learn from. It was an immensely enjoyable morning. Two days later my attempts arrived in the post - kiln annealed for strength and just the right size to fit on my charm bead bracelet.
