About the Course
This workshop offers a wonderful introduction to the art of kiln formed glass, using solely Bullseye transparent, opal and iridescent glass. You will gain an understanding of the materials, techniques and processes involved while producing your own masterpiece! Using sheet glass, frits, stringers and wire, you will be shown how to cut glass, add inclusions and create voids & bubbles.
These one day courses run twice a month on Friday and Saturdays, if there are 4 or more of you and you'd like your own date, just give me a call and I will create a date that suits you!
No prior glass experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a smile!
The Gallery and Studio are located in the sunny coastal town of Worthing just a short walk from the sea front, it's easy to park nearby & the station is only a short stroll.
Looking forward to seeing you here at The Forge Gallery really soon for a great day of creativity, fun, glass and giggles! :o)

Mandy Davies - - #11102
Not being very creative and having little idea about fused glass, I thoroughly enjoyed this day. Under Siobhan's expert guidance I managed to create a number of pieces without even cutting myself!
The day was great fun, lunch brilliant and Siobhan and Dan great hosts. Would totally recommend and would love to repeat.
Jen - - #11094
If you're reading this, sign up and take this course - you will not be disappointed!
Siobhan is an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher who will bring the best out in you and the day will fly by.
Lunch was wonderful and I think I could do this day over and over again and never get bored.
Sam Taylor - - #10805
WOW! What an entertaining and educational experience! To get 'hands-on' experience with glass was wonderful. It really did proven that glass art isn't easy though and Siobhan's skill and 20 years + of experience really came across in the course. What's more, the Forge Gallery is right by the sea, so you can make a weekend of it!
Karen Sutton - - #10623
This was such an enjoyable day. Not being at all creative and never having worked with glass previously, with Siobhan's wonderful help and patience I surprised myself by producing my own work of art. The day went so quickly, I was completely absorbed from start to finish. It was such fun. Thanks Siobhan for a lovely day.
Jeannie - - #10600
I had a fabulous day, learnt so much from Siobhan, good teacher, confident and she has such a lovely personality. The knowledge l'm taking away with me is priceless thanks. Endless cups of coffee if you wanted them...The huge chocolate cake was an added bonus...lunch was great.
Chrissie Hunt - - #10521
My husband paid for us to go together as a present. We both had an absolutely brilliant day. Neither of us had any idea what to expect. Siobhan is an amazing character who explains the process so well, but also lets you have a free run on what you want to do. I honestly thought it wouldn't be for my husband at all, but, he loved it. I never realised he could be so patient and artistic !!!
I wouldn't describe it as a course, as courses are normally boring, this day is most definitely not boring. This is a great day out where you can create your own master pieces and it also makes you realise just how skilled Siobhan really is.
We will both be going back again as our xmas prezzie to each other.
Many thanks to Siobhan for giving us a great day.
Sonja & Lenny Black - - #10220
Fun workshop made all the better by the warm welcome and fun delivery from the congenial host Siobhan. Surprisingly easy to cut the glass into shapes and the complimentary effect techniques make your pieces unique. Did this as a father and son day (Father's day present) and would happily recommend to others.
Neil Jones & Ash Jones - - #10055
fantastic day with Siobhan at the forge. excellent tuition and delighted with all the pieces i had made.
highly recommend the workshop day, makes an excellent present.
alison gusterson - - #9156
Siobhan's one day glass fusing course is probably the best one out there. She encouraged the group to use their own ideas and designs starting with a coaster size piece to play with the idea of glass fusing principles. Her instructions were clear and at a good pace. The day culminated in making a larger piece of our own design and an abstract hanger. Siobhan offered valuable advice without interfering so everyone's work was very individual and different. I am delighted with my fired work and highly recommend the course. Hospitality throughout the day was very generous. Thanks Siobhan!
Michaela - - #9078
What an amazing day. So interesting. Learnt such a lot. Lunch was lovely. Siobhan and Danny are such a caring couple , and loved the dog too. I am dropping hints for another birthday treat so I can go again
Jan allen - - #9042
Siobhan is an awesome teacher and the perfect guide to the world of fused art. She amazed me with her enthusiasm, energy and patience. And she got us all making our own original creations from the off. She also took care of all the important stuff – introductions, studio safety and copious cups of tea.
Claire - - #8958
A great day that's been really well thought out. We started with introductions (including to the studio dog - Boo) and plenty of hot drinks (available throughout - good range) and then Siobhan told us about how fused glass works and how the various different techniques produce different effects.
We got straight in to a small piece (bit of a trial run really), it was definitely not as easy as she made it look! It was a lot of fun though and i ended up with something that looked more or less what i had in mind.
We had a lovely fresh buffet lunch then got stuck in to a bigger piece of our choice in the afternoon.
There were plenty of different colours to choose from, and a lot of help as needed. Siobhan has a knack for pushing you past your comfort zone slightly which is actually exactly what you need.
I would recommend you come with a vague idea of what you want to do - although there are plenty of books and inspiration all around.
We got an email with the images a few days later - it was great to see how they all turned out and i'm looking forward to getting the finished pieces soon.
Cressida Downing - - #8876
I attended Siobhan's course recently and really enjoyed the day, and even came away with two works of glass art that I made, which has enthused me to consider having another go. The whole day was really fun , attended by a similar group of liked-minded people. Siobhan was such a good tutor, who made the day fun and interactive. A great present from my wife and daughters, and totally different!
Roger - - #7866
brilliant day, was slightly nervous to start with having not done this before but soon got in the swing of it. Very relaxed day, with lots of help and guidance and plenty of refreshments along the way. We definitely book another day soon.
Jeanette Pratt - - #7483
I have enjoyed the course very much. The day began with some basic skills and techniques for fusing and we had a look around the gallery for ideas.
Siobhan is a very good instructor, she'd help you to create your pieces and develop your ideas.
Winnie C - - #6700
After being wowed by the beautiful pieces of fused glass art in the Forge gallery, I decided to have a go myself and signed up for a one day course. Despite being 'out of my comfort zone' working with such an unfamiliar material, I had a fantastic time. Siobhan is a wonderful teacher who mixes patience with inspirational instruction. Everyone was friendly, and lunch was yummy.
I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to explore a new medium in their creative journey.
Ruth Lawton - - #6690
My husband and I had a fantastic day, we knew nothing about glass making but Siobhan was excellent at explaining it all and making it such a fun day - a lovely lady who is very funny as well as hugely talented!! Thank you Siobhan, we look forward to another one and further honing our new learned skills !!
Amanda and Nick
Amanda Munday - - #6216
A fantastic course and wonderful day! Siobhan was very inspirational and really made you feel at ease. I will defiantly recommend the course and book another one very soon
Pauline - - #6116
Spent an absolutely amazing day with Siobhan on Saturday. I love looking at and feeling fused glass but this was my first attempt at actually making anything. It was totally absorbing (I even ignored all the lovely chocolate cakes on offer - a first for me!) and am sooo proud of what I have made. Siobhan really inspires you to find your creative juices - that was the bit I was worried about - and then helps you to think how you can translate that into your "masterpiece". I'm already thinking how I am going to put together my next design and my sister and I are looking at dates to book on another course.
The workshop setting is really relaxing and the day is great fun. Siobhan has a lovely sparkly personality and she makes you sparkle too.
Sue Goddard - - #6055
I was rather anxious as I set off for a "surprise" treat for my sisters 60th birthday- it had been arranged by my three wonderful nieces ( a rather intrepid group thus the anxiety!). However my anxieties were soon laid to rest when we arrived at Siobhan's wonderful shop and fused glass studio- the shop was full of inspirational examples of her work (AND you can buy them and pretend you made them - no-one will know.....). Anyway, you won't need to as under her expert (and very patient guidance) you can make several very lovely pieces of your own. When we stopped for an excellent lunch no-one could believe how quickly the time had passed. I can honestly say that by the end we were all talking about coming again (perhaps to make Christmas decorations??) Thank-you so much Siobhan (and nieces) for the most fun I've had in ages.
Jacqueline Phelan - - #5824
We were looking to do a nice activity for my mum's 60th and were BEYOND excited to find Siobhan & the Forge because our whole family is a bit glass-mad but we had no idea just how wonderful an experience it would be - the atmosphere and level of fun and care make the day almost as fab as the glasswork does, the price is brilliantly reasonable considering the amount of methods taught and the amount of projects you get to do there - we're already planning our next session!
Utterly wonderful and massively rewarding, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone whether as a gift or just as something lovely to do for themselves - two thumbs way, WAY up.
Kim Williams - - #5821
A very productive day and lots of fun. Siobhan was very welcoming and I learnt a huge amount. I will definitely be back.
Molly - - #5747
A very enjoyable relaxing day. Course run by very friendly knowledgeable lady. Help and inspiration given when asked but also encouraged to be creative. Would thoroughly recommend this course to people of all ages and abilities.
Linda Stevens - - #5699
An incredibly, fun, fabulous and interesting course! I really found my creative spirit.
A truly fantastic day and we enjoyed every moment. Who know learning could be so much fun? I would highly recommend to individuals or groups! Thank you so much Siobhan, you really made it a hoot for us all!
Emmy Hussey - - #5576
Siobhan's course is so fabulous that I had to do it twice. She is a great teacher and helped me to produce some very beautiful pieces that I am very proud of. If you are looking for a birthday or Christmas present for someone special this would be ideal.
victoria - - #5558
What a fantastic day. This was my second course with Siobhan and yet again she was full of support and knowledge of her craft. It's a day where I simply switch off from the normal day to day stuff and get the chance to relax and express myself in my own way. The courses, facilities and the buffet lunch are all top notch and brilliant value for money. Then there is Siobhans wicked since of humour which completes a perfect day. Thank you for another great day and I will be back !!
Gary Berntsen - - #5473
I had a really good day. The facilities were excellent and Siobhan is a very good teacher who expertly guides you through the day. I had no previous experience, but was happily surprised by the pieces I produced. I thought it was excellent value for money and thoroughly recommend the course.
Pippa Suggett - - #4876
Super Christmas present! Siobahn is an inspiring teacher - thoughtful, encouraging, motivating and full of fun too. No experience required to have a really, really good day. Well worth the effort and you get to take home the results of your creation which won't be hidden at the back of a cupboard!!
Jane Simons - - #4872
This is my second glass day as I enjoyed the first so much! It's so satisfying to undertake a day of good instruction and spontaneous creativity and then have lovely unique creations to take home quite soon afterwards. Great fun again Siobhan, thanks.
Vicky Widdows - - #4869
I had a wonderful day trying to create my own masterpieces!!.It was lovely to have the opportunity to spend a whole day practising a new skill which was totally absorbing... .the time flew by and i would definitely do it again .Thank you Siobahan
carol - - #4867
Had an absolutely fantastic day at the forge. Learnt so much throughout the day and I am so pleased with the final pieces. Siobhan is a brilliant teacher- I couldn't recommend the workshop highly enough!
Lucy Joyce - - #4311
This is an excellent day course beginning with an introduction to techniques and materials and the rest of the day you can design whatever you want where Siobhan gives a wonderful welcoming course and sets expectations what you can achieve as a beginner - she is extremely talented in this art. You get first hand help throughout the day and class sizes are just right. We were delighted with the results and can't wait to collect our pieces now that they have been in the kiln.
Anyone attending this course will have a fabulous day out.
Rob and Donna Bull - - #4310
Really enjoyed the challenge of putting something creative together. I made three fun pieces and I would love to do it again.
Vicky Widdows - - #4116
An fantastic day! I cannot recommend it highly enough. Siobhan was a great tutor and gave the right amount of information and guidance I learnt so much but also thoroughly enjoyed myself in the relaxed , but hard working, atmosphere. . I am delighted with what I made and my husband is impressed. I would love to go again.
Judith Skitt - - #4111
As someone creative, in work and life, I feel frustrated by not being able to experiment enough. Coming to the glass workshop gave me an opportunity to play. I was able to design something and then create it without a need to have the pressure of being able to sell the end result.
The day whizzed past, but I'm really pleased with what I achieved.
The ambience was perfect.
Can't wait to do more!
Katherine - - #4100
A perfect course for enthusiastic beginners and also those with some artistic flair or experience. The day was both educational and creative, with great tuition and encouragement from the talented Siobhan. There were lots of inspiring pieces in the gallery itself and a good workspace for the small number of participants. Lunch was fresh and delicious. All in all, a brilliant day!!
Peta - - #3842
We had seen the outcome of glass fusing, and were keen to see how it is done.
The day was everything we had hoped for, and Siobhan was truly inspiring. Facilities were excellent, lunch was magnificent, company was good, and I think everybody had a very enjoyable day.
We felt that we were given a great insight into what could be done, and also had a go ourselves at seeing what was involved.
Absolutely brilliant day, cannot recommend the course highly enough.
Ian and Maggie - - #3823
Really good course. Siobhan is an excellent tutor. The number on the course provides for plenty of individual attention, whilst enabling friendly interaction. I would thoroughly recommend that you try it.
John Bowd - - #3781
I came down from London to attend the workshop and had chosen Siobhan in preference to somewhere nearer because I had researched her work and really loved it. The day itself was great - Siobhan told us all we needed to know to produce our own two pieces of work. She was encouraging and supportive when needed but let us get on with our own ideas, pointing out what would and wouldn't work. I produced two pieces which I am very proud of (one of which Siobhan kindly offered to mount for me) and also ended up buying two of Siobhan's art works which are absolutely fabulous and have been remarked upon by everyone who has seen them. Definitely the most satisfying Saturday I spent in ages!
Ariane - - #3622
I thoroughly enjoyed the session, Siobhan is very welcoming, encouraging and informative. I am really pleased with the 4 pieces I made and hope to save up to do another day.
Lucy - - #3595
Had a wonderfully enjoyable day with the incredibly welcoming Siobhan and Danny. Siobhan was inspiring and gave just the right amount of help and information whilst still letting people do the work themselves. Very kind and friendly and not at all intimidating regardless of skill level. I would recommend the day to everyone!
Claire - - #3594
I am delighted with the pieces I managed to make on this day - friends and colleagues have been impressed too.
It was a great experience - despite a few moments of frustration trying to work out how to get the pieces of glass to sit in just the right place!
Siobhan guided us through a good number of techniques to use - I already have ideas for next time I can go.
Philippa - - #3593
We had a fantastic day with Siobhan. Learnt loads and really enjoyed making our art works. It's a great course even if you don't think yourself particularly arty as you get a lot of help and you can create simple pieces that are quite stunning when finished.
Lunch was plentiful and really nice too. A lot more than expected.
Highly recommended...I'm looking forward to booking again soon.
Tracey - - #3266
An absolutely brilliant day, hugely enjoyable. I learned so much about the properties of glass and the fusing process and it was fascinating and massively fun. Siobhan was lovely and highly approachable, lunch was delicious and everyone was so friendly. Plus, the birthday cake was so very thoughtful and a lovely surprise! I've learned a huge amount and it was a brilliant experience, many thanks.
Helen Whitehead - - #2901
A very enjoyable day to be creative using glass a new medium. I saw this course as a taster to understand what could be done with glass and managed to produce four pieces of work. A friendly atmosphere with good instruction, learnt a lot and would do this again.
Alan Greene - - #2889
Great day! Opportunity to learn new skills in relaxed and friendly atmosphere - and even better there was something tangible we had made at the end. Highly recommended.
Lesley - - #2779
Didn't know what to expect when I signed up for this course. It was a brilliant day with lots of help and an excellent lunch. Well worth doing :-)
Liz Phillips - - #2766

Jacqui - - #2710
A great day with the rest of the team doing something new and different.
Andy - - #2699
I attended a one day fused glass course in April with a group of family members. We had a really fun and informative day with Siobhan who was patient and knowledgeable. Despite misgivings about our artistic skills we produced items that are (to us) very impressive!! Thank you Siobhan for making a memorable day.
Liz Machin - - #2698
We had a fabulous workshop day with Siobhan at the Forge. Excellent facilities and Siobhan was a great teacher - she explained all the techniques and how it would look after being in the kiln and set us working on our first piece very quickly. She made the day great fun for us. We were a family group - total novices at this - and Siobhan helped us create a collaborative piece in the afternoon as a memento of a milestone birthday.
Really rather special experience!
Many thanks and thoroughly recommend to anyone.
Helen Garlick - - #2683
Had a brilliant day with Siobhan doing the fused glass course. Nothing was too much trouble; the techniques were well explained and demonstrated with examples to see in the studio. I managed to produce a window insert for my front door which involved a lot of planning. Mounting was done a few weeks later after the piece had been fired and suitable safety glass to hold the piece had been sourced. A generous and varied lunch was provided and was a welcome break from the intensive work. Thanks Siobhan hope to see you again.
Linda Saunders - - #2573
Thoroughly enjoyed your -one day course on fused glass. I was surprised to
see on my test pieces how well the sharp edges of the glass disappeared with
firing. Anyway, to make something really acceptable I would need more
practice under supervision.
You never know I could come again.
Best wishes and thanks
Ian Elder - - #2405
Fascinating, Interesting, Amusing, Very Educational but most of all Great fun, Great food and Great Company, well worth a try !
Terry - - #1992
A very active day which passed really quickly with a great and inspiring teacher. Planning to do this again.
Barbara - - #1862
Had a most enjoyable day learning abut fused glass and trying some of the techniques. Siobhan is very friendly and provides help, encouragement, and guidance as you explore this fascinating material. The Forge studio provides a comfortable and well equipped environment to learn in. A really fun way to spend a day being creative.
Eric - - #1693
Really enjoyed the day. I feel inspired to do more even though I couldn't quite get the knack of cutting small bits of glass. Siobhan very helpful and encouraging. Would recommend this course to anyone with or without experience.
Sheena - - #1626
I had a really lovely day. It brought out my creative side which had been a bit dormant recently, so I'm very appreciative of that. Thanks
Helena - - #1617
This was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and even I (with no discernable artistic skills whatsoever) managed to produce something that will be displayed in the house rather than relegated to the loft as I feared! Siobhan was a great tutor, encouraging and good humoured, she explained things clearly and didn't seem to mind any number of questions.
The only problem I have is that I now have a greater appreciation of the immense work that goes into the pieces Siobhan creates herself, and want to buy at least 3 of them!
Great lunch too.
Jackie - - #1323
What a fabulously fun day we had fusing glass. I found it a bit stressful at the begining before deciding to design a sunset tile.. and then, once again, it was difficult to decide what to make in the afternoon. But after our yummy posh picnic-y lunch, and once I'd decided on my South Downs Way theme, there was no stopping me. My final 'masterpiece' turned out a bit darker in places than I'd thought it would; and I might go back and have another go. Siobhan is great; leaving us alone to get on with our chosen peices as well as being there whenever we needed help. The whole day was great fun, and the tiny glass cuts on my fingers healed really well within the week......
Vanda - - #1322
This was a fantastic day. Instruction was very clear with visual help from pieces around the gallery to demonstrate technique and effects. It was absolute immersion in being creative for the day. I would dearly love to go and do another course it was so enjoyable.
Helen - - #1251
I had a great day. The instruction was clear, and there was always help when we needed it. Having a small class meant there was time for everyone. I hope I can go again some time and lose myself in the fun of creating whatever I dream up!
And, as a bonus, lunch was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Thank you, Siobhan!
Jenny Lawson - - #1148
We had a great day on this course. It was run in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Siobhan is a riot and very knowledgeable and ready to explain and guide throughout the day. The time flew by. Highly recommended.
Pete Thompson - - #1121
This is fantastic fun whether you have worked with glass before or are a complete novice. Siobhan is endlessly patient, lets you work at your own pace and inspires you to achieve more than you might think possible. great lunch, endless mugs of tea, fantastic value. I will definitely book another day.
Carole Robertson - - #1029
A wonderful, informative and good fun day. I haven't collected my piece yet, even so I would highly recommend the day. Siobhan tailors the day to your individual needs and experience and lets you get on with it, after the first instructions and examples, but is always on hand for support and advice. I have gone on several craft courses and this one really was excellent. ( I may have to go again!) Very good value for money too!!
Christine - - #926
I spent a really happy and relaxing day learning about fused glass techniques and producing some pieces I and my family are very proud of ! Siobhan was more than very helpful and made us feel at home in her beautiful gallery and workshop- very inspiring surroundings filled with lots of wonderful things. Topped off with a lovely lunch and lashings of tea or coffee ! I would love to return to learn more.
sally croucher - - #784
Siobhan is fantastic - really kind and friendly which makes it so easy to learn the techniques from her, as you don't feel silly asking questions! (And she makes a good cup of tea too!)
She had the patience of a saint in working with us all - complete strangers of different ages, abilities and ideas of what we wanted to achieve from the day.
I would thoroughly recommend going to do this course, and am sure I'll be back at some point to do some more :)
For those who don't drive it also great that the transport links are so good.
Nancy - - #711
A fantastic course, I learnt so much and produced some beautiful work. I can't wait for my next course here.
Chris Hajdukiewicz - - #699
Great day out and despite having no natural ability, with Siobhan's help and encouragement, managed to produce a rather fetching 'plate'.
Would happily recommend to anyone.
Geraldine Blake - - #691
An incredibley Inspirational day that was fun, full of knowledge, and where I found a creative edge within myself that I did not know existed. I was quite nervous about attending, but Siobhan had a manner that made me feel really comfortable and able. Thoroughly enjoyed and would certainly recommend.
Lionel Chilcott - - #425
This is fun. You get involved in hands-on technology, and the mysteries of fusion. You will never feel the same way about glass again - what you can do with it, it's properties and it's possibilities. And Siobhan guides you through it, lets you do your own thing, motivates you. Highly recommended!
David Graham - - #365
I had no idea what to expect, and had a wonderful and full day...Siobhan is a very good and patient teacher....i think this is very good value for money and am looking forward to my next one!
Debbie Stringer - - #363
This was one of the best Christmas presents ever. I had an amazing day, Siobhan is a great tutor and I am truly astonished at the results I achieved. I will go back :)
Sue Croft - - #360
A really full learning day, gained lots of experience in the use of glass.
I had made some huge assumptions in the making of moulds and was able to rectify my practice and produce, with Siobhan's expert advice, some excellent results.
Also had time to design and make a good wall panel.
Well worth making the effort, so go ahead and do it!
Barry Lockwood - - #359
Brilliant day, would love to do it again. Siobhan is an inspiring teacher.
Very exciting waiting to see the final "works of art"
Karen Radestock - - #266
I had a fantastic time. Siobhan is a great tutor and gives you masses of confidence to do really amazing things......in glass.
The day passes so quickly that you just want to go back again.. which I did!
My husband loved the peices I made and one takes pride of place in our living room.....I made a glass landcape for his 50th Birthday present
It was a great day and excellent value - please do it!
