Glass fusion full day (Beginners and Improvers)

X

Description

Book in for a full day beginners and improvers session which will introduce you to the art of glass fusion or expand your knowledge in a relaxed, friendly group.

This workshop is specifically for the creation of small pieces of glass art or jewellery bases (restriction of the kiln is that pieces can be no larger than 15sm square or to fit in a 15cm cube space if 3D or for slumping).

In this one day workshop, you will be able to explore the art of creating fused glass from a variety of types of glass (all subject to availability) including:

opaque and transparent sheet glass
frit (small pieces of glass)
powdered glass,
decorative stringers/noodles/ribbons
'Liquid' glass for adding lines & more
Fundamentals of painting fused glass

You will need to return approx 1 week later to collect your pieces of work - or they can be posted to you at additional cost for P&P.

You can expect to make the equivalent of four coaster-sized pieces of fused glass - but you don't have to keep to coaster size and/or shape!

You will be able to choose from the following with each of four 10cmx10cm pieces:
* Coasters
* Trinket Tray shapes
* Tea Light shape (self-standing in front of tealight)
* Picture Panel (held in wooden stand for small additional charge on day)
* Suncatcher with hanger for window display
* Set of windchimes
* Mini bunting
* Small round bowl
* Or swap your 4 10cm pieces of glass for the equivalent for larger pictures (rectangular or squares up to max 15cm on longest edge)

If you prefer, you will alternatively be offered to select a slightly different method of construction for the fused glass and make small decorative hanging glass designs such as birds, animals, and seasonal shapes such as trees, eggs, gnomes, bunnies and more. It is also possible to make shapes and pictures which later you can add to frames and display in other ways such as making mobiles.

This requires more cutting of shapes from the glass but adds to your skills and practice!

You don't have to choose in advance - see the options and samples at your workshop. You can always go half and half if you can't make up your mind :)

***Please note: if you are a quick worker and think you would like additional glass, extra glass will need to be charged for and paid for by cash or card on the day. If there is something in particular which you would like to create, please contact me for advice before booking***

You can work from your own ideas for designs (within the size parameters explained in the workshop), or you can use my ideas for inspiration, or follow my step by step guides if you prefer.

Maximum number on workshop is 4 people (adults only please)

Hot and cold drinks are included throughout the session. Please bring your packed lunch.

Buying as a gift or for a special occasion? Please contact us as we would love to share the occasion with you.

* Separate Toilet Facilities for just our Workshop (so you know who you could have been in contact with and to minimise contact with general public)

What's included in the price?

Tuition, use of all tools needed to complete your 4 10cm x 10cm pieces (or equivalent size), firings in the kiln including additional firing for slumping/shaping, and collection (P&P extra by arrangement only).
