This introductory stained glass repair & restoration day long workshop runs 3 time per year. Check with Gordon for the next date, or follow the links to book online.
The day runs from 10 am til 4pm and is designed to provide an introduction to repairing and restoring traditional leaded stained glass windows. The course will cover every stage in the repair process, from stripping out a damaged panel to the final steps of replacing tie-wires and polishing.
The workshop is suitable for both complete beginners and those with some previous stained glass knowledge. Each participant will be supplied with a small antique stained glass panel, which they will dismantle, repair and reconstruct over the course of the weekend.
The following aspects of stained glass repair and restoration will be covered over the two days:
Recording damage and preliminary note-taking
Producing a cartoon
Cutting, templates and cleaning
Re-leading, soldering and finishing
Strengthening and installation
The course will take place at our newly-built dedicated stained glass workshops outside Alford, Aberdeenshire (see map, right).
