Our intermediate day course in Fused Glass at Rainbow Glass Studios focuses on creating sculptural forms in glass, using a variety of floral slump techniques. If you have ever wondered how to make these amazing organic and flowing shapes, this is the course for you!
This course is aimed at students (anyone over 16 years old) who have done one of our beginners day courses or who have some previous experience of working with fused glass.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
We will cover:
Cutting glass - refreshing your cutting skills, and practising our proven glass cutting techniques
Designing for floral slumps: the technical considerations, and planning your shapes and how they will fold in the kiln
Colour theory in glass making (on the day we will be working with Oceanside Glass COE 96 glass)
You can expect to make one large floral slump (30 cm diameter) and up to two smaller slumps working from our patterns and / or your own ideas
We will cover kiln firing schedules, and tips on how to ensure successful slumps
A wide variety of potential decorative ideas for your pieces
We will fire your creations following the day course and slump them and you can either pick them up later in the week or have them posted to you (for an additional P+P cost of £25 in the UK only)
All materials and firings are included in the course fee.
We will provide regular refreshments ( tea, coffee and herbal teas and biscuits throughout the day).
The course is limited to a maximum of 4 students at a time in a socially distanced environment, with PPE (face visors and hand gel) provided for the health, safety and reassurance of everyone attending.
