Fused Glass Workshop - Advanced Botanic Designs
Description
This workshop is ideal for people who tried glass-fusing before and are looking for something a bit more challenging. It is also suitable for people who have transferable art/craft skills and are looking to jump in at the deep end! If necessary, you will be introduced to the processes of cutting and shaping sheet glass. You will use glass enamels, a wide range of frit (crushed glass) and stringers (long strands of glass) to create your design. You will start with a pre-cut base of clear glass, choosing between a 23cmx10cm rectangle or a 15cm diameter hanging circle. This size of glass will give you plenty of space to try out different techniques and ideas. Making your project will probably take between 1½ and 2½ hours, depending on how ambitious and dexterous you are. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided (vegan biscuits and oat milk will be available). After the workshop, your piece of art will be taken back to my studio for firing. Within about a week, it will be ready for collection. If appropriate for your chosen shape, you will also receive an oak stand to display your masterpiece, or it will be returned to the kiln a second time to curve it. I can post your art to you and/or frame it for a small extra fee. The typical group size is 4-5. The maximum group size is 8 and the course will only run if there are at least 3 bookings. It’s fine to book a place on this workshop for well-behaved children aged 12+ as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. If you have a child who is a little younger but they have previously attended one of my courses then they may also be able to take part: please message me before booking. This workshop will be held at Broome Village Hall, DY9 0HA. This offers a light and airy space, with plenty of room to spread out if needed. There is wheelchair access and the adjacent car park has plenty of space for the size of group. Broome is a beautiful little village near to the Clent Hills, with lots of countryside walks and pubs if you are planning to include the workshop as part of a full day out. If you would like to try a simpler project, why not look at one of my intro or intermediate workshops? I am always happy to run workshops for a group of friends. Please get in touch.

Glass Art Designs is run by me, Beckie Cresswell - I personally teach all of our courses. I have always been interested in nature and the natural environment. After A-levels I studied Biology at university and then went on to be a secondary school Science teacher for 20 years. In my free time I've always enjoyed trying different crafts. When I tried glass fusing, I knew I'd found a craft that I loved. After completing a few more courses, I decided to buy a kiln myself. After lots more learning, experimenting and improving, I set up Glass Art Designs. I've been making and selling glass art ever since then and my work has been shipped all over the world. I'm new to CraftCourses.com but I'm certainly no novice at helping people to learn in a fun environment. I'm delighted to be able to share my passion for teaching with my love of fusing glass!
