Mark Havers reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"An amazing experience. Sebastian was a great teacher, he gave you the knowledge and tools and then left you to try carving for yourself but was always on hand for help and guidance. The group was small and we all got on very well which added to the experience. The workshop was in an idyllic location in the heart of the countryside with plenty of shade from the sun which on this occasion was excellent as it was very hot. I intend to return in the future and would recommend this to anyone who wanted to try their hand at stone carving."

Kath reviewed: Micro Macrame - Beaded Bracelet

"I absolutely loved my Macrame plant hanger class with you yesterday. My plant is hanging in the window right now. However, I will have to make a new home for the plant as it is too hot there, but I couldn't wait to use my beautiful hanger. I am well impressed with myself for achieving this master piece under your very friendly, relaxed class. I will be telling my sisters all about it tomorrow night on our monthly girlie night. Thank you so much. "

Graham reviewed: Giacometti style bronzed animal sculpture one day workshop Suffolk one-to-one or max 4 students

"I became inspired to learn a little about sculpture after seeing The Helmet, by Henry Moore, in the National Gallery in Edinburgh, which is simply stunning. After I returned home to Essex I found Di’s one day workshop on the internet and booked myself on. The day was simply fantastic and I came away with a bronzed cat, which I am very pleased with. Di’s instruction is excellent, the facilities are great, and I can honestly say the day surpassed my expectations. I can thoroughly recommend the workshop. If you have an interest in sculpture and want to make something that is not too difficult this is a great place to start. I am about to collect together materials to have a go at making another piece myself at home."

Art on the Edge responded:

"Thank you Graham it was a delight to meet you. Fabulous cat and I really enjoyed teaching you. Send me some pics of your next creation. Di"

Peter SCott reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"A day with Colin The moment you arrive at Colin’s beautiful home, in the most stunning setting in the heart of the Cornish countryside you immediately get embraced by the warmth and confidence this man projects. There is a great expression “there are those who talk it and those who do” and this was obvious with Colin’s wealth of knowledge on all aspects of wood turning. Immediately he put me at ease, knowing the day was going to provide me with a great insight into wood turning. I have watched the video’s, read the books, but in the next few hours I understood more about the fine details of the art of turning wood. His very pleasant and encouraging manner encouraged me to say if I did not fully understand, without feeling I was being difficult or thick. Colin explained the background of each of the principles of every process, often assumed as a simple craft but his depth of working skills showed me how to turn wood correctly in a controlled and safe manner, that produced a quality of finish that hardly required any sanding. Coupled with the same skills in finishing, produced two pieces at the end of the day which I smile at every time I look at. A day that I will remember and call upon every time I turn a piece of wood.
