Hare Sculpture one day workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

Adding plaster bandage to a medium sized hare on the 1 day workshop
X

Description

On this fun filled and absorbing one day Hare Sculpture workshop you will sculpt your very own moon-gazing or ‘in motion’ hare to take home! No experience is needed as Jo guides you through every step.

We start with a steel stand and aluminium wire armature which has been pre-made for you (although later in the day we will make an armature together so you can understand the technique). You will move features of the armature to your own personalised ‘pose’, making every sculpture completely unique. At this stage you can also place a personal message into the heart of your hare (poignant for moon gazing hares), or you can include a lock of hair etc. Layers of plaster are then added, with a final coat of weather resistant colour and ‘kiss’ of gilding cream to bring your sculpture to life (the magic moment!).

Depending on the pose you have chosen, your sculpture will stand between 25 - 30 centimetres high and weigh about 1 kilo. The sculptures are weather resistant so pop your hare outside to moon-gazing or leap about your garden or patio! There may be a choice to upgrade the size of hare you make to a medium (50cm) or large (75cm) hare. See the photo on this page of them sitting under a pine tree to see the size difference. Details of upgrades available are provided closer to the workshop date.

We also run amazing Two Day Sculpture workshops where you can make your own design of sculpture. Often these are large and bespoke - check out the photos on the Jo Garden Art Two Day Sculpture here on Craft Course website. Press 'More From This Maker' button to see information!

Jo Garden Art's rural workshop is modern, spacious and bright, set in beautiful quiet countryside just outside the village of Hepworth on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. It's within easy reach of Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge for those of you having a break in the area. The Jo Garden Art sculpture kits to make at home or for gifts will be available to take away at discounted prices.

Our workshops are friendly, fun and relaxing aimed at all age groups from the age of 12 onwards (children from 12 to 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult).

If you cannot make any of the workshop dates and would like to create the same hare at home - please click on 'More from this Maker' button where you will see 'Hare Sculpture Kit' for £49. Or if you would like to make a full sized hare, there is the 'Full Sized Hare Sculpture Kit' for £89. A detailed YouTube video of Jo showing you each stage of making your hare is included for you to watch as many times as you wish 😄.

If you have any questions prior to booking, please make contact 👍

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

All materials are included for your sculpture (please note there is a £5 surcharge payable on the day for the leaping or running hare versions).

Aprons are provided, but ware old clothes 😁.

Each student has access to their own set of tools (so no waiting for others to finish!).

Tea, coffee, water and snacks are available throughout the day.
Please bring your own packed lunch. Fridge space, microwave & toaster available.

We have three acres of grounds to stretch your legs (probably accompanied by our friendly Cockapoos).

I attended the one day workshop with a friend, upon arrival we were greeted by Jo and her wonderful dogs and made to feel like we were friends not clients, we had the most amazing day in beautiful surroundings.
Jo was very attentive, well organised and encouraging. The day just flew by and we came away with sculptures that we are proud to say we made.
Thank you, we will be back

Oh my goodness what an amazing day. I attended the one day workshop on Saturday 14 May with a friend. We had treated ourselves as a joint birthday treat. Travelling from the Midlands we were worried if it was worth it but wow it was. Jo was so welcoming, informative and joyous. I’ve done many a crafting course but this was the best. We loved every minute and left with a hare sculpture to be proud of. Thank you Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Sharon - so glad it was worth the journey and thank you for sending a photo of your lovely hare already sitting in your flower bed 🤗. It was worth doing the medium upgrade so he could see over the gorgeous flowers 😄. Jo x

Wow what a wonderful day I had!

I attended a one day workshop in April with 3 friends and enjoyed every minute. Jo's studio and garden are delightful, the perfect setting to feel inspired.

The day was so relaxing, Jo took us through every stage with easy to follow instructions and plenty of time to complete each task. She was there all the time to assist us and kept us going with numerous cups of tea, chocolate biscuits and encouragement.

At the end of a creative day we all had a completed hare to take home, each one unique and special to us.
Thank you Jo I would love to come back and make a big hare.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Diana - it was lovely having your group in the studio; lots of banter and laughter. Everyone made such individual hares 😊. It would be lovely to have you back to make a bigger one! Jo x

My husband and I attended this fantastic workshop on Sunday 1 May and we both had a fabulous time. Jo is an attentive, friendly and extremely well organised host. Her garden studio is wonderful, warm, cosy and well laid out. We both became totally immersed with our hare sculptures and creating something 3D with wonderfully tactile materials which was incredibly therapeutic. We would highly recommend this unique experience.

What a fantastic experience, I can't recommend Jo enough! A truly wonderful day!
Jo is a natural, patient teacher who offered advice throughout the day to ensure our finished sculptures looked fabulous. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, making it a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.
‘Harriet’ hare takes pride and place in the garden and has been admired by many, but I couldn’t have made such a good job without Jo’s guidance.
I love being creative but have never done anything like this before and fell in love with it. I can’t wait to start on the kit I bought home with me.
Thanks Jo x

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Debbie. Harriet was lovely - and will I'm sure be a centre piece in your garden (along with your second!) for a long time to come. Enjoy making the kit and do not hesitate to come back to me if you have any questions. Jo x

Had a lovely day making my very wonky looking hare (down to me, not Jo). Incredibly well organised. All materials were pre-measured and pre-cut which really helped the day run smoothly. I wasn't sure what to expect but I had a great day and it has left me feeling inspired to do more. Even though I am a "materials nerd" I discovered new products which I hope to use in my own work as a puppeteer. Jo was an extremely welcoming, kind and encouraging teacher and I would highly recommend anyone to go on this course. Added bonus were her two lovely dogs!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

😆😆😆 I loved your wonky crazy hare Andy! Thank you so much for your heart warming comments and hope you find the new material ideas useful for your fabulous puppets. Jo x

I just want to say what a fantastic day the hare sculpting was, truly enjoyable and inspirational . As someone who has previously struggled with creative arts and crafts I was expecting to be a bit out of my comfort zone, fortunately I was completely proved wrong . Jo was an amazing tutor always on hand for help, advice and encouragement and the atmosphere in the studio peaceful and supportive. I am very proud of my sculpture which is now in pride of place and I cant wait to show it off to visitors or anyone I can drag off the street. I would definitely recommend the day to anyone and I will remember the experience for a long time and continue to smile.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Lynne - I love the 'drag anyone off the street' comment 😆. Will watch out for newspaper headlines! You made a lovely sculpture - well done, and so pleased you enjoyed the studio space. Jo x

Thank you so much Jo for a wonderfully relaxing creative day in your studio yesterday. Although we managed to complete so much in the space of one day I never once felt hurried, and you were always on hand to offer advice and help when it was needed. You are a natural teacher and I loved the way you encouraged everyone to enjoy the creative process. I am so proud of my sculpture, especially after the surprised look on my daughter's face when she saw it and said 'actually that's pretty good!' I would recommend this course to everyone as in Jo's safe hands and welcoming studio your creativity will be encouraged - and in ways you may not expect it to!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Nicola 😊 - Love the comment about your daughter's surprised response 😆. We all have creativity hidden inside us. So pleased you enjoyed your day. Jo x

I had a really wonderful day yesterday creating my hare. The workshop took place in truly lovely surroundings and Jo was very welcoming. She is a natural teacher; making sure that everyone was comfortable at every stage, giving gentle encouragement and words of advice, or practical assistance if it was needed. I really did have so much fun learning a completely new skill and I am utterly besotted with with a few pieces of twisted wire that developed into the most characterful hare right in front of my eyes. I would absolutely recommend this workshop to others and can definitely see myself returning! Thank you so much Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Rachel! I'm always amazed at how individual each sculpture ends up, even though you start with the same 'twisted wire' 🤗. Excellent work 👍 Jo x

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Diane - so glad Hartley is in his new home 😄. It's always interesting to see how everyone ends up with totally different sculptures even though they start with the same wire armature! Really happy you enjoyed the experience. Jo x

Came along with my 19 year old daughter as a gift from my husband for my birthday and we really enjoyed our day with Jo. Jo is so relaxed and easy to get on with, so enthusiastic and very organised. She does not sit down all day! The day is well paced and Jo makes sure everyone understands each step and offers her advice and help along the way. As complete novices we were amazed with the end result. Our leaping and moon-gazing hares have been receiving many compliments. Can totally recommend this craft course , the perfect day out. Thanks again Jo.

An amazing day creating a leaping hare with Jo.
Jo was incredibly knowledgeable and made you feel at ease learning this new skill. The day was paced well, where you felt you had time to work on each element before moving on. Jo makes you feel very welcome and at home within her beautiful studio and garden.
I purchased some of Jo's kits to do at home and have subsequently made two more sculptures following her comprehensive guides and the skills learned on the day.
Thank you Jo, it was totally worth travelling hundreds if miles to come and do this

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Harriet! And thank you also for sending me those wonderful photos of your racing greyhound and sitting spaniel made from your bespoke kits bought at the workshop. They were really good ;-) I am constantly humbled by how far people travel for my workshops and really happy you felt it was worthwhile. Hope to see you again! Jo x

Under Jo’s watchful eye, her easy manner and expert knowledge guided us through the process of creating what I can only describe as a masterpiece!
I met lovely people and came away fulfilled and dare I say rather smug with my fantastic hare sculpture.
Will definitely be doing another course. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you Jo and my fellow course mates.

Had a fantastic day with a group of friends at one of Jo's workshops this week. Jo and her husband welcomed us into their home and the beautiful surroundings of Jo's workshop. The course was great fun and Jo led us patiently through each step so that we all came away with a hare sculpture that we had slowly fallen in love with during the day - each had it's own name by the time we left. Would thoroughly recommend this workshop to anyone, no previous experience needed at all. Our group will definitely be back for another day of fun with Jo in the near future.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Karen! The hares created seem to take on their own life as the day progresses - such a lovely process. Would love to see you back again in 2022! Jo x

Response from Jo Garden Art:

My pleasure Dawn! I am writing this response just before my guests arrive for the second day of a two day workshop - we made some really interesting armatures for this one; a long leaping hare, a racing greyhound, an eagle owl and a man dancing on the earth with a moon in the background! A full and most enjoyable day. Good pace, clear instructions and support when required. Purpose built studio was ideal.

A bonus is that all the hares from our group looked great, all individual characters from the same tuition.

Highly recommended for all.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thanks Sandra ;-) I love my studio so much and it's been a blessing during the Covid months. I know where you are coming from about the individual characters of the hares - they all start out exactly the same, but morph during the day through the touch of their creators! Jo x

Well what a day, what a course!! Absolutely delighted (and amazed) with my sculpture. Not being a particularly arty type, the whole process was a revelation.
Lovely fun bunch of 5 other ladies and what a talented teacher Jo is. She started by describing the process, then demonstrated. We had a ‘go’ under her watchful eye and could ask for direction & help at any stage. Jo is....endlessly helpful, patient, kind and great fun.
Who wouldn’t enjoy a workshop like this, highly recommended and going again next month for a two day course 👏👏

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Trudi! I can't wait to see what you create on the two day workshop ;-) Plus you will have time to make a human sculpture on the second day! Really looking forward to seeing you back here, Jo x

You couldn't fail to enjoy spending a day in Jo's wonderful studio. Jo was very welcoming and is such fun. She is also a brilliant teacher and guided us every step of the way. Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Sue! I'm so glad we finally beat the Covid postponements and finally had your friends surprise birthday present. Trying something new is always daunting and the big thrill for me at the end of each workshop is seeing people achieve a little magic ;-) Thank you for recommending the workshop and it would be a pleasure seeing both of you back again! Perhaps on a 2 day workshop for a bigger challenge!!!!! Jo x

I had a fantastic day sitting side by side with my best friend, making a leaping hare! Jo was a superb tutor - giving clear and simple instructions, happy to repeat them when I wasn't listening(!) and showing us step-by-step how to create our individual sculptures. It was a wonderful experience, being "allowed" to make art again and encouraged to do so! Jo is a fabulous facilitator, appearing from nowhere with fresh paper for the tables, and bowls of clean water, brewing as much tea and coffee as you wish and always at hand to help and assist if we needed her. Beautiful studio set in very tranquil gardens which were full of interesting sculptures made by Jo. I HIGHLY recommend you book a workshop with Jo - it is art for the soul. I'm delighted with my leaping hare!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Wow Ann - what a lovely review, thank you so much. I love being busy, so juggling the processes throughout the day is fun for me and hopefully nice for everyone attending. You are right - Art is for the soul and anyone can enjoy some zen time in the studio. Hope to see you again! Jo x

Amazing relaxing day. Jo provided good clear instructions even a beginner could follow. Absolutely wonderful day in a beautiful setting.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Ruth ;-) I'm so pleased you enjoyed the day and found the instructions easy. I do work on refining the details to ensure absolute beginners do achieve a sculpture they are proud of. Hope to see you again, kind regards Jo x

Jo is a marvellous tutor. She guided us through the different stages and it was fantastic to see the hare sculpture emerge. Each one of our group created a different hare which reflected our personalities. I really enjoyed the day and hope to go back again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Chris ;-) I love watching the evolvement of the hares at each stage. I understand that when the class first look at their own wire hare armature, it seems impossible to imagine what the final outcome will be! And you are right - the hares do reflect personalities - I really enjoy seeing the outcomes ;-) Jo x

Had the most beautiful day making hares with Jo, she had the day planned perfectly. My sister has never made or even be able to draw stick men. With Jo's fabulous help and guidance she made a wonderful hare, she was totally shocked that she could create something so arty.
Such a well organised day in an amazing art room, set in even more amazing beautiful and tranquil setting. Highly recommended.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Teresa ;-) And thank you for being brave enough to try the new patinated copper finish! Are the blue & greens still developing?! The finish looked amazing - I popped that short video on to my Facebook page if you take a peep (thank you for letting me do that). Would love to see you back here one day, Jo xx

I booked for myself and my two sisters to do this course and I couldn't have had a better time, we all came away with beautiful Hare sculptures. Jo made the entire process fun and easy and we all came away with new skills to have a go at home or we may come back and have a go at a bigger sculpture, Jo showed us photos some of her other students had made and they were awesome. I purchased one of the bigger hare kits, it has lots in it and I cant wait to have a go. The studio setting is fabulous and a walk around the large garden was worth the visit alone with lots of sculptures to see. It was a really fun day too. I highly recommend this course, thank you Jo we had a wonderful day and came home with sculptures we are all proud of.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

What a fabulous review - thank you Deborah ;-) I really enjoyed having you all in the studio together and seeing your various styles of hare sculptures develop throughout the day. Having a thunderstorm in the background whilst we made armatures together was a first for me! You managed to walk the paths cut through the grass just in time ;-) Would love to have you back for a two day workshop making a bigger sculpture! Enjoy the large hare kit. Jo x

What a fantastic day! I absolutely loved the whole workshop, from start to finish. The setting is beautiful, Jo is a superb teacher, and I found the process totally absorbing and relaxing - and fun, too. I'm not particularly artistic, but I was delighted with the result and am more than happy to have 'Hercules' on display at home. I was even disappointed when we had finished, but I'm looking forward to getting the tin foil out to see if I can do anything vaguely successful with the kit I've brought home with me. Thanks also to Andy who played his part in making it a great day.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Liz ;-) Really pleased you have Hercules on display at home! Have fun with making your dog out of the kit you took home - please do not hesitate to make contact if you have any questions at all! Jo x

Thank you so much Jo - this was by far one of the best workshops I’ve been on and the first time I have tried Scuplture in any form. Everything from start to finish was perfectly organised from your pre-workshop comms, your warm welcome, the stunning setting, and the amazing preparation and tuition to allow me to make the most amazing large sitting hare. The weather was completely on our side but I was blown away but how much I was able to achieve with your help in one day. This was a perfect antidote for a days escapism from a busy life and pandemic living. Thank you! I hope to be back!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Jane ;-) I could not believe you managed to make one of the large hares through to completion in just 1 day! The hot weather did help with allowing super fast drying, but you kept up with each stage the remainder of the group completed making the smaller hares. Bravo ! Would be delighted to see you back here for a two day workshop - what would you achieve on that!! Jo xx

My husband arranged for me to go on this course as a Christmas present (arranged several times due to Covid!) and I was so pleased to finally do it as it was brilliant! Jo’s expert planning and preparation meant that we all progressed through the different stages of making our hares at roughly the same rate and produced lovely finished products at the end of the day. We all felt very welcome in Jo’s studio, garden and home and the atmosphere was lovely. We also came away with all the information about what we had used in class and a small pot of paint and a brush for touching up - a very useful finishing touch.

I can unreservedly recommend Jo’s class to any ability because of the preparation and structure of the day.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Glenis ;-) We finally met after re-arranging your surprise present 5 times! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the day and took home a kit for your husband to make a 'leaping hare' companion for your wonderful hare sculpture. I hope you do not need the 'touch-up' kit, but pleased you liked the provision just in case. Jo x

I came away from this 1 day workshop absolutely buzzing, what a fabulous day Jo is a brilliant tutor, her style of teaching is very clever, she immediately puts you at ease and yet she gets you to do an incredible amount of work in a very short space of time- so by the end of the day you go home with your very own mini masterpiece.
Jo and her husband turn their home over to the students for the day, both are very welcoming and their home is a peaceful haven - a joy to work in. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone whether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much for this heart warming review Lisa ;-) It was a pleasure having you at the workshop and also seeing your incredible pencil drawings; so talented! Glad to have activated another skill - please do not hesitate to make contact if you would like to chat over ideas. Jo x

Brilliant day making a Hare sculpture. I’d never done anything like this before & am not known for my artistic skills... It really was great fun, so rewarding to see ‘Bob’ come to life from twisted wire, foil & some messy stuff plus he looks like a hare too! I and some friends went to Jo’s very first hare sculpture day workshop back in 2019 and I put a review on at that time as we all enjoyed ourselves so much. Unfortunately my leaping hare was badly damaged in an accident so I contacted Jo to see if he could be repaired. Luckily I live fairly close to her studio and she took him in and did a ‘Repair Shop’ makeover, which she made a video of. My hare repair is now on youtube and he is famous! He is now back on my sideboard fully restored – thank you Jo!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

My pleasure Sarah ;-) That workshop seems an eternity ago! It was fun locating the photos I took of you making your hare which I included in the video - thank you again for letting me put them in. The video can be found on youtube and my website. Really pleased he is back on your sideboard. Jo x

I can't recommend this course enough. My 19 year old daughter and I were trying something completely new and didn't know what to expect as this was a joint birthday gift. In a lovely setting and with Jo's excellent tuition and gentle guidance we both left clutching hares to be proud of. The day was well planned and flowed smoothly, everything needed was always to hand. Jo's garden and studio provide a relaxing environment and we quickly lost track of time as we focused our newly discovered creative talents! Many thanks to Jo for a truly wonderful day.

I had a wonderful experience constructing a hare under Jo's guidance. The one day course was structured, informative, well led and most of all, FUN. I came away satisfied and amazed at how much I had learned about a process completely new to me. Not only did I come away with a beautiful sculpture, Jo supplied a pack containing a felt base plus a small pot of paint and brush in case touch ups were needed. A complete package and good value. Thank you.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Diana ;-) Your hare's ears were fabulous! I love the way that no two people's sculptures end up anything the same - they are always individual and lovely. Thank you for appreciating the after-care kit! I look forward to seeing you & Karen at the Abstract Art workshop.

I attended a course with Jo (and Andy) on Sunday 12th July. The setting was tranquil and relaxing. Likewise, the activity was also fun and relaxing. Jo was clear, informative (and patient) and I am delighted that with her guidance I was able to produce a hare! Jo ensured that everyone felt comfortable (especially in regard to how things are at the present time). I would highly recommend this course... you don't have to have any experience and Jo will take you through everything... step by step.

Attended the 1 day course on Saturday 11 July for, what turned out to be a superbly informal and fun day! Jo & Andy are great hosts & very welcoming.
As the first class since ‘Covid’ restrictions have been lifted we were a small group of 3 working in a beautifully tranquil & airy studio.
The plan of the day is explained & then the fun begins. There is guidance at every stage & help if you need it.
I not only managed to consume a vast quantity of Jo’s chocolate supplies but came away with a lovely hare that will always remind me of the day.
We are all hoping to meet up again soon on a 2 day workshop with Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Terry ;-) It was lovely to work with you on my first day back after the Covid shutdown and I'm looking forward to seeing you again in August for an even bigger masterpiece! Thank you Jo for your wonderful sculpture day and hospitality. Very good communication prior to the day and directions made it easy to find the location, despite storm Dennis making his presence known. The day was a present for my birthday and I really could not have had a nicer day. Being a small group of six made for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the workshop was held in a spacious, modern garden studio within the beautiful gardens of the teacher’s home.

Jo is a warm and inspiring teacher who prepares well and explains every stage of the construction really well. I picked up lots of new sculpting techniques which I shall continue to develop at home.

Such an excellent day which felt like a day with the family. So pleased with my sculpture. Can’t think of a better way to spend a special day. Thank you Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Myself and my friend Julie attended this course at the weekend. I have to say it was a delightful day in so many ways. We were part of a lovely group of fellow sculptors, with several laughs, amongst periods of deep concentration. Jo is a superb teacher and lovely host, and her husband and dear little dogs were equally welcoming (Olive the cat was a little more aloof , but gorgeous anyway).

All the hares produced on the day were magnificent !

Kim Haredashian now has pride of place on the bookcase .

We did this workshop as a couple as it was bought as a birthday present for me. A perfect gift for so many reasons; a chance to explore a new form of art, to spend time together and to create great and lasting memories as well as a hare each. We both made a hare that we are very proud of and will cherish. In fact all 6 of us on the course made lovely hares... a testament to Jo’s teaching and enthusiasm.

A lovely warm welcome from all the family... including the four legged, furry ones. A good location too. Definitely recommend and excellent value for money. We were absolute beginners and we managed to make a pair of hares. Thank you Jo.

What a fun day! My Sister and I wanted to spend the day being creative with our 81 yr old Mum who hasn’t made any artwork in over 30 years. Jo gives great instruction, positivity and keeps things moving to create your sculpture. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and have been inspired to try the process at home.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Nikki! It was a pleasure meeting you and your family and so glad your Mum enjoyed herself ;-) Can't believe your hare is now in Tuscany!

Jo is an enthusiastic & competent teacher very patient with absolute beginners like me! The location was lovely and everyone was friendly and supportive. I never thought I could create something artistic but Hepworth the Hare will take pride of place at home. My friends are planning to book on a course next spring and I will be back ! Thanks for a great day Jo ! X

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Carol! So glad 'Hepworth' managed the long journey home and now has views of canal boats going past your window ;-) Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Jo x

Had a lovely day yesterday on the one day Hare Workshop. Jo is a very patient teacher and full of encouragement for a total beginner! Jo leads you through each step with clear instruction and demonstration and provides lots of help when needed. A thoroughly enjoyable day, meeting new people and returning home with a sculpture I thought would have been well beyond my capabilities. I would love to do it again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your review Val! So pleased you enjoyed the day and are proud of your moongazing hare ;-)

What a brilliant day! Jo is an excellent tutor very patient and guides you through the project so well that everyone comes away with a really impressive hare even without any prior experience or skill. The environment is lovely and Jo and Andy are both so friendly and welcoming (Tula and Mia are gorgeous too). The information you get prior to the workshop is clear and informative and the day itself is very well organised. I would thoroughly recommend this workshop.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your comments and really pleased you loved the day Nicola! You created wonderful detail on your moon gazing hare. ;-)

I treated myself and my husband Jeff to this one day course for our 19th anniversary (which is bronze, well only painted bronze but looks so good). Jo really is a brilliant, clear and friendly tutor who guided a completely non creative Jeff into a great hare artist ! We had a fantastic day, the dogs are so friendly and the studio is modern and bright. I recommend this day to everyone and I will send a few friends and family on it for unique Christmas and birthday gifts. Can’t wait to return and have started saving for a 2 day course.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Lynn! It was a pleasure having you and Jeff here on Saturday ;-) And didn't Jeff do well! I love it when someone say's they are not creative - then go on to pull a hidden talent out of the hat!

Without doubt one of the best courses I have ever been on and highly recommended. Jo's home and studio is beautiful and she is warm, welcoming and friendly - plus a great tutor too! She is brilliant at explaining what will happen, showing you what to do in bite size chunks and then encouraging you to do the work with the bare minimum of help.
I never thought I would turn a basic wire skeleton into such a lovely piece of art which has a memento of my late mum enclosed inside. It will forever have a special place in my garden.
All six of us were total beginners and we all did incredibly well. Would definitely be happy to go back and make something else another time. Thanks Jo (and Andy, Tula and Mia).

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for such a lovely review Annette. Your moon gazing hare is beautiful and I am so pleased it will have a special place in your garden xx

An absolutely wonderful day in a beautiful environment and led by Jo who is such a clever tutor. Jo made sure we all had the help we needed and 6 amazing sculptures were created by 6 people who had not a clue what we were doing at the start. A wonderful day with a special output.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much for your review Sally! Everyone has an art genie just waiting to be tickled ;-) I'm sure your Mum will be thrilled with your stunning leaping hare. I'm looking forward to working with you on your full sized standing hare for your own garden.

Thoroughly enjoyable day. Jo was friendly and welcoming and provided easy to follow instructions and modelling. Everything was provided so all we brought was ourselves and some lunch.

I had great fun and lots of laughs with friends as we made our hares. Definitely will do this again as came away with a hare to give mum for Christmas and now want to make one to keep for myself.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Maggie! Really happy you made a wonderful hare for your Mum despite your injured shoulder ;-) Looking forward to seeing you again.

What a brilliant day! I have never attempted anything like this before and believed I didn’t have a flair for this type of art. Jo was a great instructor and with her step by step guide she explained and showed us the individual processes to achieve a good-looking hare! The modern studio we worked in was lovely, bright and airy with beautiful views overlooking the garden and fields.

A great day out whereby you can use your creative talents or in my case, learn a new skill.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thanks Yvonne! So glad you enjoyed the day and loved your very own masterpiece ;-) Very pleased you like my new studio - I'm as proud as punch with it and so lucky to have such a beautiful space to be creative in.

What a fabulous day in a fabulous setting. I really never expected to leave with such a wonderful hare that I am proud to display as I had told Jo, our teacher that she would have her work cut out with me!!! It is such a simple but effective technique that you can’t go wrong with. Jo was a great teacher, keeping an eye on us all, correcting us if needed but she will only give you as much or as little help as you want. The art studio is set in a wonderful and beautiful garden and Jo made us all feel so welcome.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your great review Sarah! It’s a privilege to be involved with someone discovering a hidden talent ;-)

The hare sculpture day was part of my mini-hen weekend. I wanted the weekend to leave us with a reminder (apart from Prosecco overload!), and wow what a result! We now all have our own funky hares as we decided to go a bit crazy with the designs – mine is called Beyonce as she has a rather generous posterior! I can’t wait to show her off! We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was so relaxing and fun. A great day out – I would definitely recommend it and Jo is a lovely teacher!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

What a pleasure it was being part of your hen party weekend ;-). I loved the ‘funky hares’ and I’m sure they will ‘toasted’ to frequently. Have a wonderful wedding and I wish you every happiness for the future.

What a fantastic day! Not only did I come out of the workshop with a personalised sculpture which I would be happy to display in my home, I also learned how to design and develop a piece of artwork which was immensely satisfying. A great way to chill and socialise, and I now feel confident to try other artistic things. Would thoroughly recommend!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your comments Pauline, your running hare was fabulous!

I have just completed the Hare Workshop Day and it was amazing! I had so much fun creating my own masterpiece. It was a fun, relaxing atmosphere and who knew, with Jo’s guidance, I would be taking home my own Hare to display. I shall be booking again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Rachael! So glad you had a great day and thank you also for sending me a photo of your hare in ‘pride of place’ on your sideboard ;-)
