Duo human sculpture kit (1 x 30cm & 1 x 50cm)

Namaste front image (Large 50cm Kit)

Made in the Jo Garden Art sculpture studio, this Human Sculpture kit provides all you need to create a unique figurative sculpture finished in bronze gilt (which honestly looks like pure bronze!). The clay is reinforced airdrying clay so does NOT need a kiln.

There are 3 kits available: a 30cm small kit, a 50cm large kit, and a combination kit with both in (to purchase a kit of another size, press ‘More from this Maker’ button at the bottom of this description). The size is measured from the wire armatures top of head down to heal.

If using your kitchen oven to dry your sculpture, the whole process can be completed in a relaxed day. Or if you are leaving to airdry naturally, then over a period of 2-3 days.

Suitable for complete beginners to clay work and sculpture, the kit comes with both written instructions (with photos) and a detailed online Video of Jo making both a small and large human sculpture which can be played as many times as you wish.

You start by finding a human pose you would like to recreate. The internet has lots of ideas, plus the kit also provides photos of different poses. It could be you love yoga and would like to depict a certain stretch you enjoy best. Or perhaps you are creating a family member! Your figure can be sitting or lying. If you wish to display it on a shelf or windowsill, you can have the legs hanging over the edge 😉.

Once you have decided on a pose, the unique wire armature (each handmade by Jo in her studio) included in the kit is simply bent into the shape with your fingers. The limbs and body are reinforced which allows you to recreate a position which will hold even when you have applied the clay. The video shows Jo bending the armature into several different poses.

You are then ready to apply the clay (which is vacuum packed for freshness). Included in the kit are sculpting tools used for detail work. The video shows Jo making two different sculptures: a 30cm lady (with a ponytail) sitting with her legs to one side, and a 50cm man sitting with crossed legs. You do not need to finish your sculpture in one go – just wet the provided cloth and wrap around your figure. The clay will remain usable for days so long as the cloth remains damp.

Once you have completed your sculpture, either leave to airdry for 1 – 2 days, or pop into your kitchen oven (details given in the instructions). When dry, brush the special clay hardener all over, which which dries within 1-2 hours. Paint brush is included in the kit.

The paint in the kit is Powertex which is a strengthening agent as well as providing a rich bronze colour. The final touch is applying the wonderful bronze gilt cream which brings your sculpture to life in a way photographs do not do justice!

Please note – this kit should be made within 4 months of purchased. These sculptures are for enjoying inside as the airdrying clay prefers not to ensure soggy weather 😉

Just finished my third workshop with Jo and tremendous help and support from Andy. This time created 3 ladies to stand outside. Wonderful 2 days, learnt more new technics and am thrilled with results. Many thanks and will see you again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Sally! Really enjoyed seeing you back in the studio and your three gorgeous ladies are still there gradually drying out. My sister who lives abroad 'face timed' today and I showed them to her - she loved them and asked me to do a remote workshop via zoom so she can create similar sculptures! They will look amazing on the tree stump you have in your garden. What will you think of next ...... ! Jo x

What a wonderful way to spend two days!
Having recently completed my 'leaping hare' under Jo's expert tuition, I can highly recommend this course to anyone thinking of having a go at this type of sculpting.
Jo is such a professional, patient and fun tutor that I felt at home within minutes of arriving, despite being a complete novice. Andy, Jo's husband was the welder for our pre-prepared armatures, so together they make a great team.
I was amazed that after just two days, I could produce something so beautiful and which has been much admired by friends and family. Just looking at him (definitely a 'him') makes me smile.
Thank you Jo, I will be back next year!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Angie! Andy's armatures are a piece of art in themselves ;-) So glad you felt at ease - I appreciate how out of depth people must feel when first arriving. I just love how the hares in particular evolve personalities and so happy he makes you smile! Jo x

Caroline Lovett - - #35367

I booked Jo’s workshop after visiting a Rodin exhibition and being inspired to try sculpture. Jo’s friendly approach and professional tutoring made this experience so accessible and enjoyable that I booked another workshop shortly afterwards.
The setting for the course is beautiful, Jo and Andy are super helpful and welcoming.
The outcome from both 2 day courses was magical : just like my first sculpture which I’ve called magic man . Would give this course a 10/10 🙌🤩 and highly recommend it to anyone.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Caroline - you are such a pleasure to work with and your interpretation of a 3D sculpture from your amazing Magic Man drawing was gorgeous. Looking forward to mulling over another project! Jo x

Margaret Phizacklea - - #35060

I had a wonderful two days Jo was so helpful and I was able to make something far beyond expectation - will be going again

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Margaret ;-) Your owl was just gorgeous - and finishing it in rust will mean the colour keeps changing as weather affects the iron particles. Looking forward to seeing you again in 2022! Jo x

I have absolutely loved making the hare. There was no shortage of supplies, and the instructions were very straightforward. It is excellent value, and the finishe piece looks amazing

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thanks Jo for a wonderful 2 days of learning and laughing. I am more pleased with my mad Pukekos than I ever could have imagined. I can’t wait to see them running around the garden.
I loved getting the chance to try another technique as well and am looking forward to creating more using the home kits.
Thanks again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Tessa! Your Pukekos were so much fun to plan ready for the workshop and then watch you create to a perfect match of the outrageous colours they display ;-) I wonder how many people will read this review then look up what a Pukeko is!!! Thank you for trailing out the forthcoming Human Sculpture Kit - your 'lady reading a book' was fabulous. Jo x

Caroline - - #34481

Had a lovely two days with Jo. She's a great teacher and gave us all lots of attention and instruction. She has a great studio and a garden full of inspiration. I'm very happy with my rusty leaping hare. Added bonus was trialling a new kit with Jo. We learnt a different technique to the one we used on the hares and had an extra piece to bring home. All very inspiring.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Caroline ;-) your rusty hare will keep changing as the iron content of the coating matures - it's a lovely 'alchemy' process. Thank you again for taking the challenge of trialling my new Human Sculpture Kit and creating a fabulous cobra Yoga pose lady in air-drying clay. You really have a flair for sculpture! Jo x

I haven't enjoyed a craft project so much in years. I only wish I didn't live so far away so that I could do a workshop with Jo. Her demonstration video was brilliant at every stage and I can't say how delighted I am with my finished hare. He's a stunner !! I'm hoping to contact Jo to find out what else she does

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Jenni! I'm so pleased you enjoyed making your large hare at home. It looks a bit daunting at first, but broken down into stages the process usually flows without hitches! I do make bespoke kits, for instance I created a standing horse kit for someone who had already made the large hare. If you have an idea, just send me a message! Jo x

Denise Davies - - #34033

Such a brilliant weekend! Jo is such a good teacher that she settles all the nerves instantly. An amazing time learning new techniques in the beautiful Suffolk countryside with lovely fellow students - the time passed too quickly. Definitely going to book again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Denise! A follower on Facebook commented via a separate email how beautifully proportioned your hare was ;-) Perhaps you need a large leaping hare to join her!!! Your daughters amazing Eagle Owl has caused a Facebook sensation as well. Well done both of you, Jo x

Bought this for my wife's birthday present. It was an incredible experience and Jo is the perfect blend of teacher and host. The course was amazing and would highly recommend for people of all experiences, I certainly have now art or craft ability but the final outcome were sculptures we are proud to display in our garden. Can't recommend more highly and will definitely be looking to go back with friends and family.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Simon ;-) Well done on you both creating two amazing rearing horse sculptures. Both were just fabulous, yet had individual characters. They have received lots of praise from my Facebook followers! Jo x

Gillian - - #33216

My sister bought me one of your sculpture workshop visit for my birthday but alas with lock down we were unable to attend. We then decided to try making these at home. Just had to let you know we both had so much fun and we are pleased with our finished hares. I have forward some pictures for you to see. We would definitely recommend this product to anybody. We found the instructions easy to follow and had plenty of the supplied products. I would advise anyone to read information supplied well and not to rush things. We done ours over three sittings which suited us.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Gillian! I've popped one of your photo's (foil stage) onto the Craft Course page of the Large Hare Kit. I agree splitting up the times over a few stages is a great idea. It was a pity we could not meet in person, but it's lovely to know you enjoyed the kit. Jo x

Have just finished making the sleeping cat kit with my friend. Cannot believe how different both the cats are even though we followed the video at the same time! They are great. Rebecca made a siamese cat and I made a version of Emma, my beautiful british blue. We both really enjoyed the whole process and would recommend the kit.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Carol ;-) Really glad you both enjoyed making your cats - I agree it's surprising how different the finished sculptures turn out even when you use the same materials and instructions. I often receive photos and am always amazed at the variety! Jo x

Morning Jo,

Just wanted to let you know that the parcel arrived safely this weekend.

Thank you for your help and I’m really looking forward to seeing my friends creations.

I thought you might like to see Herbie the hare which Leo my partners father created. We all just love those massive cute ears!
Your kits are just fabulous, this was the perfect unique gift for me to send Leo this Christmas. It seemed a fun way to spend a few hours during lockdown and create an individual piece.
We’re really looking forward to visiting the family in Ireland as soon as we can safely travel again but in the meantime we have all been doing little “creative challenges” then via video call having a catch up & sharing our work. Karen x

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Hi Karen - thank you so much for sending a photo of the fabulous Herbie, which I've just popped onto the Craft Course page of the Clay Hare Sculpture Kit. He is such fun and I'm still smiling. Thank Leo again for letting me use the photo - I'm so glad it's reignited his love of art and sculpture. Keep up the 'creative challenges'! Jo ;-)

Donna Teasdale - - #32569

My husband had bought me a Craft Courses Voucher and due to covid 19 I was struggling to find a course that I could do safely and that didn't involve travelling far due to restrictions. I then stumbled upon Jo Garden Art and got myself a bronze hare sculpture kit. The kit arrived super quick and came with everything you need to complete the sculpture, there were also details of links to the online video's that went through step by step for completing the sculpture. I enjoyed every minute and am looking to do another one as I enjoyed doing this so much!
Would definitely recommend!!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

So glad you enjoyed the plaster hare kit Donna ;-) It's exactly the same products as we use in the One Day Hare workshops. Perhaps you need to progress to the larger version!!! Ironically easier to make as less small areas to reach into! They are addictive ;-) Jo x

Lucinda - - #32568

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the excellent instructions online and the products you sent in the kit. I’ve had a fab time learning the process and making the hare, it’s been quite intriguing! Thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to attend a workshop in the future when we can move about and everyone is safe, at your studio. I’ve done quite a few art workshops as I like to paint/draw, but I will say that few are as concise and relaxing as yours. I enjoyed the gilding part I’ve never done that before. Really enjoyed the polishing bit. It was amazing watching it start to pop! It’s been great. I'll send a picture of Mr Hare separately to your email, so you can see what I’ve done 😊.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thanks for this review Lucinda - and also sending a photo of your fabulous finished hare. You really nailed the gilding part! As you say, the moment the gilt goes on the hare comes to life. It's always a magical moment in the workshops ;-) I'm sure your Mum is delighted you loved her present to you! Jo x

Purchased a craft kit as a birthday present for sister in the Far North (Caithness, not Greenland!). Jo’s given us lots of help and ideas. Can’t wait to see it in the garden!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for letting me know the large hare kit 'loped its way safely' to north Scotland. I'm sure your sister will have great fun making it and hopefully will soon be moongazing and watching the Northern Lights!

Bought the hare kit, along with the sleeping cat kit, a few weeks ago, was a really good experience. The YouTube video was great to follow and any issues Jo responded very swiftly and was a great help. The instructions and kit was everything you needed, you just added the coffee and cake!! Will be purchasing again - the dog one next I think. Hoping to visit in person in the near future. Thanks Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Ah ha! Here is the cake once more ;-) - thank you Catherine! I loved the photos of your hare along with little basket of carrots made with the spare clay - an inspiration! (was the cake Carrot Cake?). Would love to meet you in the summer. Jo x

I was brought the family sleeping cat sculpture kit for my birthday. We completed them in stages over 4 weekends during lockdown and thoroughly enjoyed spending time together making them. I don't think my husband or son would have considered attending a craft course but enjoyed making them at home. The instructions were clear and comprehensive but the cats are very definitely individuals. A strange lockdown birthday but a lovely reminder of spending time together as a family.
An excellent craft course and would highly recommend it.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Angela! You made my day when your review and the photo you sent came through on my email ;-) As you said, despite the same materials and instructions everyone made completely different cats (and little mice with the left over clay!). So glad you had some special time together as a family. Jo x

Another fantastic kit! Enjoyed doing this socially distanced with friends over zoom, great way to switch off and relax. Really pleased with the results too. Great, prompt service from Jo, everything you need is in the kit, instructions are very clear and easy to follow, as is the video tutorial. 5 *'s from us!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Wow Heidi & gang - thank you so much for the photos of the amazing cats you created! They are now featured as a collage on the Craft Course page for the 'Family & Friends' kit. Just gorgeous results - thank you again for sharing them with me ;-) Jo xx

A mixed group of 9 family and friends got together virtually to make our hare and sleeping cat sculptures. The kits were fantastic, containing everything we needed. The instructions were extremely well written and the extra resource of the training video meant that everyone knew what to do. We all produced unique and pleasing sculptures, even the least experienced among us!
We are delighted with the whole experience. Thank you Jo!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you and your family and friends for such a lovely review Kitty ;-) And also for the awesome photos! I never thought someone would make a hare standing on his hind legs from the clay kit!! 'Virtual' sculpting parties are such fun. Jo x

Becca Asquith - - #32259

I loved this sleeping cat kit. The kit was really well thought out, everything you need is included which made it super simple to get started. The accompanying youtube tutorial is very clear & really well paced, you can just let it run as you do your sculpture in real time -you don’t have to keep pausing and rewinding. And the results were great! I’m amazed at how well it turned out! It was loads of fun to make & really relaxing. I’m definitely going to buy some more kits from Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Becca ;-) So happy you found the process relaxing - we need that at the moment! When I check the videos I play them at double speed and can still understand what I'm saying - I did not realise I spoke so slowly! Jo x

Craft kit
Cathy - - #32257

We loved this kit so much ! We have never done anything like this before and thought it would end up a bit of a mess but this kit is so carefully thought out that it really helps you every step of the way . We had great fun doing our cats together (we asked for 2 cats instead of a hare and a cat) and found it extremely relaxing . I never usually take time out to do things like this and I decided I should do it more often . We are going to try a hare and a dog next . The kits are extremely organised and the instructions so clear with a really well paced and thought out video that you can play as you are working on it . I will get some more kits for us to use but I will also get some as gifts as I think they make a really sweet and fun present .

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Cathy - really pleased you managed to find some 'zen' time doing something new. Sculpting in clay is very tactile and absorbing (and quite addictive!) Jo x

Heidi - - #32155

Not just a 'good hare day' but a brilliant one! Four friends, different households, zoom and away we went. The kit was excellent; instruction sheet, tools, materials, access to the video. The video excellent too and a great reference. Thoroughly enjoyed the sculpting, painting and final bronzing and we all have very different results. We would all happily recommend the 4 person kit and look forward to being able to join the workshop in person.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Oh wow Heidi! Your hare is amazing - as mentioned in the video, I generally guide people away from putting face details as it can go a bit wrong - but you have nailed it - really well done ;-) And knowing you had a friends zoom session is very heart warming. Thank you for your lovely review - I'm really glad you all enjoyed your time making the hares and hope to see you in person soon. Jo x

My Husband purchased me the Sleeping cat sculpture kit as an Anniversary present. The Kit had everything I needed to build the cat and paint it. The Step by step instructions were easy to follow.
I was able to grab a drink and a bite to eat between stages like the drying process. Overall a really nice kit and introduction to Sculpturing techniques.
I whole heartedly recommend.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Ann-Marie ;-) Really pleased you liked the Sleeping Cat Kit and found the stages easy to follow if you have not tried sculpting before. I hope it has launched a new creative pastime! Jo x

After I had placed my order Jo very kindly rang me to go through the stages of our Hare construction as I wanted to try a moon gazing hare. We spent two very enjoyable days making the bronze hares, and exploring our creativity. Everything we needed was included in the kit and the instructions were very clear, and easy to follow. The YouTube video was also very helpful. We were very pleased with our finished results, and having bits left over means we can try our hands at something else.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Jill - and for sending me your photos of your fabulous finished hares - I have put one onto the Craft Course photo slide show under the Family & Friends x 4 Bronze Hare Kit. Your moon gazing poses are just lovely ;-) Jo x

Sarah - - #32090

I purchased the hare kit and omg loved making it at my own pace, tweaked it to suit my tastes and family have commented how good it is. With some leftover clay made a hand and footprint from my 6month grandson as a keepstake too. Love it

Response from Jo Garden Art:

What a lovely review Sarah! So glad you enjoyed making your hare and used the leftover clay in such an inspiring way. Jo x

Julia - - #32085

I had a lovely time doing my sleeping cat sculpture, not sure it would make it into a gallery lol 😅, but I love it! The instructions are very good & easy to follow and the YouTube video was very helpful, love the tips you gave. I will email you some photos, feel free to use as you wish. I had a bit of clay left so made a mini cat, maybe don't include that as it looks a bit random. Will definitely recommend your kits.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Julia. Your photos have come through and your sleeping cat looks lovely - well done ;-) So glad you enjoyed your time making her and mini cat! Keep safe, kind regards Jo x

My children and I received craftcourses gift vouchers for Christmas, and with continued Covid restrictions, decided to go for this kit instead of waiting for an in-person course.
Every part of this package was brilliant. Postage was fast. The written and video instructions are very clear and make what seems initially a bit of a daunting task completely achievable - and fun. No additional equipment is required and everything was clearly packaged and great quality. My children (aged 11-17) really enjoyed it and we had enough spare clay, paint and gilt to create little hedgehogs (using a ball of tin foil) to go alongside our hares!
Super results. Thank you Jo. Hopefully we can come to your workshop one day!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Mandy! What a lovely review and I'm so pleased you liked all the contents in the kit. I kept them separately packaged per person just in case the 4 hares are split between households. Loved the hedgehogs; what an ingenious way of using up spare produce - thank you for sending photos ;-) It would be lovely to see you and your family on a workshop. Once we are in a lower Covid Tier, I will be working with individual 'bubbles' rather than mixed groups. Thank you again for your review. Keep safe, kindest regards Jo ;-)

We were sent this kit as a surprise Christmas gift.
Very exciting opening the box of goodies, very well packaged and excellent quality. We were going to let our daughter make them all but Jo suggested we do it as a family. What a great experience it was everyone beavering away making their own version of the hare. The video was clear and concise and we paused it as and when we needed to. So excited g putting the hares in the oven to bake. Once cooled the painting was so enjoyable and relaxing. The gilt finish really sets these sculptures apart they end up looking like bronze, fabulous. You don’t need any special skill to make the hare just time and Jo in the background on video directing you 😂.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your lovely review Jane ;-) Really glad you shared the experience as a family, I bet the different personalities came out in their hare sculptures! I've had a number of photos sent to me showing hares being made with 'me' in my video playing in the background - it's a very odd feeling ;-O Warm regards, Jo x

I received a Large moongazing hare kit as a surprise Christmas present. I had been to Jo’s on a 1 day hare sculpture workshop pre-covid and saw the large hare sculptures in her garden. At that time you could not buy a kit and covid hit before I could book a workshop to make the bigger hare. I had the most amazing three days between Christmas and New Year making my hare at home. Great video of Jo showing each stage and the kit contained everything I needed. I put some sand from a wonderful holiday into the glass pod which sits in the heart area, so whenever I look at my hare I will also remember that holiday. My hubby had chosen the black colour finish which is stunning and will look amazing in the garden. Great pressie and thoroughly recommend the kit which is not as difficult to make as you may think!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your review Jean ;-) Simon contacted me just when I was developing the kit, so he actually was my first customer! So glad you enjoyed making your large moon gazing hare - and like the Obsidian black colour. Thank you for the photos and letting me use them on my website. Hopefully the holiday sand in the heart and star gazing will result in another fabulous holiday soon. Keep safe and Happy New Year! Jo x

I have just finished my first ever sculpture and am thrilled and amazed at how well it has turned out. This medium sized hare kit is beautifully assembled - also included in the kit is information for a nearly 2 hour video link where Jo explains and demonstrates the step by step process to the finished hare. This made the whole process so enjoyable and relaxing to do. (I could pause the video while I worked on my hare then restart it when I was ready - perfect!). It was so fun and pleasing to do that I am going to order the large hare kit, so I can have a moon gazing hare in my garden. Can't wait to get started 😊 - these kits are a wonderful way of occupying the stay at home situation because of Covid and would also make amazing gifts as well.
Special thanks to Jo who with no worries at all arranged delivery as I am overseas.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thanks Linda ;-) Really pleased I could get the kit over to you! So glad the video worked out well and you had a great time making your hare. The large hare kit makes a hare 60 - 80cm tall (depending on how you position the ears), so it will have quite a presence in your garden ;0) kind regards Jo

2x kits bought for my inlaws, for christmas gifts, as Jo is unable to take courses, currently. Placed the order and within minutes Jo called to make sure order was correct. They arrived a few days after, packed very well. I did have a quick nosey through, and it looked amazing. Really looking forward to seeing the results.
Thanks again.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Lee! So glad they arrived safely and you had a peek at the contents ;-) As you would have seen the two hare armatures would have been slightly different as each is hand made. The ears, head, legs and tail can all be bent around so your in-laws will end up with completely different hare sculptures. Pictures please! Jo x

The kit has arrived. Looks brilliant, can't wait to get started. I will view the video first and then get stuck in. Beautifully put together, everything you need to make a stunning hare!!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Karen ;-) Have a great time creating your hare. Remember you can wrap him/her in a wet cloth if you cannot finish the sculpture part in one go. So long as the cloth does not dry out, the clay will remain soft! Picture please when you have finished!!! Jo x

Such a wonderfully joyful weekend! I attended the 2 day course and from the moment I emailed Jo with the idea of my curved female form, Jo was amazing, encouraging and downright excited for what we would make. Andy her husband created a brilliant metal armature for me to use as a base, even though it was a tricky one for him, he smashed it! Jo is an incredible teacher, creating such a relaxed, enjoyable and natural learning environment. I've worked with clay before but never with plaster. Jo's got a great teaching style and is incredibly inclusive. I loved watching what the other students were making and you get invested in each others works. We had tunes on the radio and had a lovely giggle in the studio. It has relit my passion for making sculptures. I will certainly be back very soon! I cannot recommend Jo's courses enough - go go go!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Nat - the photos of your lady sculpture in the setting autumn sunshine are amazing. I agree that Andy smashed the brief for the armature; it was a sculpture by itself! So pleased to introduce you to the plaster work ;-) See you soon! Jo x

Just completed a 2 day course with Jo and created a sculpture which is so much better than I could ever have imagined!
Jo has a fabulously set up studio and working environment. Lots of sculptures giving you ideas and food for thought. Although, given a challenge of creating something different to what anyone else has done, Jo is up for the task.
Can't recommend this course enough. Creative, challenging and definitely a huge amount of fun!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Fiona ;-) the weekend was great - lovely people and incredible work - well done on your 'lady in the wind'. Jo x

Attended the 2 day sculpture course along with my two sisters. Had an absolutely wonderful two days. Never knew I had it in me, being artistic that is! Well I think so anyway.

My cat has pride of place in my hallway. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute, Jo is so patient and really encourages you to express yourself via your creative work. Worth every penny and was great bonding for me and my sisters. Next time I am going to try abstract art. Go on, give it a go, you wont regret it.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Sue! You made a fabulous cat complete with whiskers ;-) and I'm so pleased he has a new home in your hallway. It would be great to see you on an Abstract Art workshop! Jo x

Having done a one day workshop with Jo I teamed up with another student & came back to do a 2 day course this week.
Jo encourages and helps with whatever ideas you have; with this, two of us made Giacometti style figures that are as tall as we are and Helen made a delightful goat that was finished in clay.
We even had time to model a small clay hare to take home.
The studio is a relaxing place that encourages creativity & the freedom to explore your own talents.
I am already considering what to sculpt on my next visit.
Oh, and there is still as much chocolate available as in there is on the 1 day workshop.
Superb tutor & environment. Excellent welding skills from Andy too who prepared our armatures!

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Terry! Your Giacometti inspired man will make a big statement in your garden ;-) Andy enjoyed the welding challenge of getting the body positioned just right. Looking forward to seeing you with the next challenge!!! Jo x

I had a fantastic two days and am thrilled with my handstand man. I can’t wait to find the right place in my garden for him. Join a relaxed and excellent tutor, everything was well organised and supportive and the group I was with were great fun. I’ll be back many thanks.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Sally ;-) - I loved your bronze version of 'Balance' - thank goodness you had a long vehicle to accommodate 7 feet 3 inches! I hope you enjoy seeing him in your garden & would love to work with you again in the future, Jo x

Wow what fun and who knew I had the artistic ability to produce a barn owl ! An absolutely great weekend in which I learnt new skills, met new friends and shared some time with my son who taught me being creative is a really wonderful way to escape the stress of work. Jo was an excellent teacher who provided a relaxed environment in which you had the freedom to make mistakes but also see results. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different - you will be really surprised just how much enjoyment you can get from wire, clay and paint. Loved it - thanks Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much for this great review Bob - I really enjoyed spending time with you and Elliot. You both produced really different sculptures and I'm so glad you managed to relax and switch off. Your owl was lovely ;-) Jo x

Thank you Linda ;-) We had a great weekend with everyone making really different sculptures. Let me have a picture of your finished boxing hares, they were shaping up beautifully! Jo x

Robert Todd - - #29049

An absolutely brilliant weekend.
Having arrived with zero experience and a head full of dreams and aspirations, Jo and Andy literally encouraged, guided and gently taught me all the stages and techniques to realise and create a garden sculpture that has genuinely exceeded all expectations.
In a beautiful relaxed location and well equipped studio, they have created a warm, welcoming and the most friendly atmosphere, where all participants can not fail to be inspired.
Thank you so much. It's an experience I shall never forget.
I will remember my weekend of being a sculptor every time I look at my 'running man'. :-)

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you for your lovely review Robert ;-) It was a pleasure working with you and your homage to the world record marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge was truly fabulous. I can't wait to see a picture of him in his final position in your garden!

Francesca Gilpin - - #29067

What a wonderful weekend! In a beautiful setting with a well equipped studio, Jo provides a warm and welcoming environment and is incredibly generous with her time and expertise. She guided us all through the steps required to create our individual sculptures with simple instructions and clarity, offering help when needed but also allowing our own creative process to blossom. My leaping hare sculpture has exceeded my expectations and I am looking forward to placing it in my garden. Thanks also to Andy who helped pack it securely in my campervan!
I shall be recommending this course to friends and very much hope to do another one with Jo.

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you so much Francesca - and so pleased you and your beautiful hare had an uneventful journey back home in your gorgeous campervan ;-) I look forward to seeing you again and perhaps we can have a play with cold wax painting!

peggy - - #28977

Had great fun on both of Jo’s courses and produced some very pleasing sculptures. Lovely location and good company (inc the dogs!)

Response from Jo Garden Art:

Thank you Peggy! Your tall Giacometti handstand man as re-inspired me to make another version myself for the front garden - much to Andy's horror it's likely to be over 6 feet tall and then put onto a high stand ;-) ;-) ;-)
