Carole Howes reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"I’m not into crafting but wanted to give this a go as I love my garden and knew a willow sculpture would be a great addition to it. There were 4 ladies on my course. 3 of us opted for herons, which Kate said was usually the most popular choice, and the other lady wanted to make a dog. I knew I was not a natural willow crafter straight away, but Kate was always there to demonstrate and help me out. I came home with a beautiful heron which has been greatly admired and looks fantastic in my garden. Everyone went home with a unique piece of art that we had (mostly) made ourselves! A lovely day."

Kate Morrell willow sculpture responded:

"Thank you so much for your kind comments"

Maria-José reviewed: Candlemaking for Beginners

"My husband bought a session for my visiting sister and her 3 children as a present and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was lovely to learn different candle-making techniques. The children loved to get to choose their own fragrances and colours and then take home the 5 candles they made. Rob was great with them and was able to explain things in an easy to understand way. Highly recommended."

Pip Carr reviewed: Watercolours for beginners online course, by Sarah Colgate

"This beginners watercolour course was excellent. Very detailed written instructions and very clear and methodical videos demonstrating the methods. A lot of thought has been given to ensure that someone new to watercolour has all the information and knowledge they need to get going. The lessons built on each other well, reinforcing the techniques at each stage. Sarah provided very comprehensive and constructive feedback, ensuring I could improve and build on what I had produced. I cannot recommend it highly enough and I will be going on to do the Intermediate course later in the year."

Sarah Colgate responded:

"Thank you Pip, for your review. I am glad you were able to develop and build up your skills as you progressed through the course and found the course materials and feedback effective. I look forward to working with you again in September. Sarah "

Warren Woodward reviewed: Beginners 1-day 1-2-1 woodturning workshop for 1 person

"The woodturning course is fantastic and highly recommended. I had a wonderful day of woodturning under Simon's expert tuition. The day passed too quickly, and I could have happily stayed longer making more pieces and honing my beginner's skills. A great lunch and refreshments are also provided. I want to do it again."

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Hi Warren, Thanks for a great review - you're welcome to visit again and it would be great to see you. Happy turning! -- Simon"

Sarah Brabbin reviewed: Plaster mould making for slip cast ceramics with Ed Bentley

"Ed, a thoroughly nice chap showed me how to create a plaster mould from one of the little ceramic birds I had made. Although a simple 2-part mould, it wasn’t as daunting and technical as I had imagined it would be, it all made perfect sense and I left with a sense that I could give it a good go on my own back at the workshop."

Mike Double reviewed: Glass blowing day experience

"Had another great day out at Chew Valley Glass. Have been hooked on having a class of glass blowing. The experience was so enjoyable and fun with all the experience and patience of Chris . Every step of the process was explained and helped to achieve a remarkable end product we created together. The shapes and colours are created then patience is needed to see the end products. After cooling they are available to take home to show friends. Hopefully they will encourage people to book and enjoy the experience."

Bransfield Glassmakers responded:

"Hi Mike - I think you probably wanted to post this review on another glassmaker's page, not ours?"

Alistair Pring reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"Firstly my apologies it has taken me this long to leave a review - not sure where the time has gone. I have nothing but good things to say about Kate and the course. She and her husband were very welcoming and the environment for doing the course, in a tent in their beautiful garden, is amazing. I could have quite easily sat in their garden for the afternoon with their dog and enjoyed their company and the sunshine, let alone doing the course. My wife and I both did a heron each and we were amazed that we were able to create something so large in just one day without much of a clue what we were doing! Kate was an excellent teacher and was supportive of my at time haphazard efforts and always willing to help un-wonky my bird! It was a willow wedding anniversary present and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you again!"

Nick P reviewed: Make a shave horse at Sallerton Wood

"This course was inspirational, I have been looking forward to it for a long time and I was not disappointed. Andy is a fantastic teacher ensuring that we all acquired the necessary skills in a gentle and positive way, giving enough guidance but not so much that learning opportunities were lost. Even in the rain Sallerton Wood was a dreamy place with Andy's structures blending in perfectly. I now really have the green woodworking bug and am planning my very own bodger's shelter to be followed by a pole lathe. I will be booking an 8 day chair course next as I would love to learn about steam bending"

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thank you very much indeed, Nick, for that kind review; much appreciated. We're delighted that you enjoyed the course so much. Glad to hear that you like the timber-framed structures at Sallerton Wood that have been made for the courses there. We look forward to welcoming you back to Sallerton Wood for a chair-making course. In the meantime, enjoy using the shave horse that you made on the recent course at Sallerton Wood. "

Claire Sutherland reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - Beginners Course - 1 Day

"As a total beginner to any sort of furniture restoration this was the ideal workshop for me. I wanted to understand how to smarten second-hand furniture that I bought from charity shops. Just for me, not as any kind of business. Oliver was able to explain how to French polish, step by step and provided excellent pre course notes with all the materials needed. He also emailed me afterwards a specific list of what to buy and what I could leave out as I'm not planning only doing loads of furniture. I took 2 small pieces of furniture, one was in need of too much repair to French polish as a beginner, but Oliver showed me how to wax it, so I went home with that improved too. Good fun day, would recommend!"

Amy reviewed: Online natural bath bomb making course

"I did the online version of this course this morning - it was hugely enjoyable, and I learnt a lot! I will definitely be making more of the bombs for pressies for friends and family! The kit for making the bombs was posted out to me and then you just need a couple of extra bits you would typically have in your kitchen. The course was fun, but clear to understand and Leoni was super knowledgeable! Would recommend *****"

Olivia Nurrish reviewed: Bespoke Photo-encaustic workshop

"Lyn is an extremely good tutor, giving you total one to one attention, explaining and guiding you through a number of different techniques in this fascinating and versatile medium.
