About the Course
In this beginners workshop you will be expertly tutored by Central Saint Martins trained weaver Anne Crowther using Ashford looms, which are suitable for those new to weaving. I have 6 looms available, perfect for small group bookings.
'Weave a scarf in a day' – a full day workshop.
Design your scarf, thread your own loom and weave your own unique scarf to wear by the end of the day! There is the option to provide your own yarns, or to use those supplied or book onto a workshop I am running in collaboration with a yarn shop and purchase yarns direct from the shop.
(The cost of this workshop varies between £55 and £70 depending on materials and venue).
'Weave a Scarf in a Day' and other weaving themed workshops (Eg Weaving table runners, mats or coasters) are currently being offered at venues in Thornton, Skipton, Saltaire, Ripley, Halifax, Harrogate and Hebden Bridge - please contact me via the 'contact course provider' button for the latest dates and prices.
(I am always on the look out for new venues, so please do get in touch if you have the perfect place in mind)
Mobile weaving workshop.
I am very happy to bring my mobile weave studio to you if you can get a group of between of 4 and 6 people together and you have a suitable space to run a session. (The looms are not huge and 2 – 3 could easily fit on a 6ft / 2mt table. However, if you want learn to make a warp and thread up a loom then warp making requires a distance of around 6 ft /2 metres – please get in touch to discuss the suitability of the space you have in mind ). A full day (6hrs) is from £40 per person based on 6 participants (min 4, max 6 participants per workshop).
I am based in West Yorkshire and I am happy to travel around Yorkshire and beyond! (Mileage @25p per mile, round trip)

Fantastic workshop for anyone looking for an introduction to weaving. I am visually impaired which made it a daunting thought, but Anne and the venue were nothing but helpful and supportive throughout. The workshop went at a good pace matched to the group and I came away with the basic principles and a scarf.

I booked this course for my Mum's birthday and we travelled up here together to learn a new skill. Anne was the perfect teacher and it was a gorgeous day! The group was lovely and we all completed our projects and were very pleased with our work.
I would love to come back and complete another course with Anne, my mum is also now completely obsessed with weaving. Would highly recommend this course to anyone!

I could not fault the day. The scarf at the end was obviously the result of the day but the whole day's tutoring and learning about the looms was excellent. I would recommend Anne to anyone interested.
Thank you for a wonderful day.

I really enjoyed this course - so much so that I am considering doing it again! Anne was very patient and helpful and the atmosphere within the group was one of relaxed camaraderie. It was fun learning to use the loom and I was proud to bring home a lovely scarf in colours I had chosen. Highly recommended.

I had a fantastic time at the Skipton class. Really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. All 6 of us went home with lovely, individual scarves and a good base of knowledge of how to weave and potential problems to look out for. Anne was so lovely and a great teacher.
I did the workshop to see if I would enjoy weaving and I came home and ordered a loom straight away, so I would say it was definitely a success!

My 11 year old daughter and myself both found it a really enjoyable day and would thoroughly recommend it for crafty types, even the younger ones. Loom buying imminent!

Wonderful way to spend a Saturday on this enjoyable scarf weaving workshop in a fantastic place.
As a complete novice I managed to produce a lovely scarf with the guidance and expertise of tutor Anne.
I appreciated Anne’s knowledge and patience and would highly recommend anyone to have a go!

Weave a scalf in a day. - - #18119
A wonderful day. Anne was a patient tutor who's advice was delivered clearly, calmly and instilled confidence in all the class. A nice size class enabled us all to receive one to one guidance as and when necessary. I was worried that I would never weave a scarf in a day but I did and never felt under any pressure.
So proud of the scarf I produced. Would definitely recommend to others.

What a great day. A friendly relaxed atmosphere, clear explanation, plenty of support and working together to gain experience of all aspects of using the loom. I'm probably a rare thing in being a man doing the course but I say to other men be brave and do it, weaving is working with the original machine and it is fascinating.

I had a fantastic day. Anne is a great teacher who explains and demonstrates each step clearly. Due to the small class size you get one to one guidence which was so helpful for me. And its lovely to be able to leave the workshop with a finished scarf.

Lovely day. I was so pleased with the scarf that I made in the day. Want to learn more and have booked another course with a group of friends.

An amazing one day course! Anne was a perfect instructor - she was patient, calm and managed the class beautifully even when a few student-created problems arose. The small class size was excellent - enough students to have a lovely chat, but small enough that Anne could give us all the help and guidance that we needed. Having a nearly complete project at the end of the session was great. Highly recommend this course and have in fact booked another course with Anne already!
