Stained glass mosaic one day experience in the Kent Downs near Canterbury

X

Description

Come for a stained glass mosaic eco-friendly experience in our glass studio, nestled in the Kent Downs AONB. It's a beautiful and eco friendly craft. Enjoy views of our wildlife-friendly garden through the studio's large Velux windows. Birds are singing in the sunshine (weather not guaranteed!) and you’ll be surrounded by trees, with vineyards in the distance. Stained glass mosaic is a great way to make environmental art from glass offcuts and makes the perfect creative staycation too, in the beautiful village of Chilham, near Canterbury, Kent. What does it cost? Your day's stained glass mosaic eco-friendly experience including all materials, lunch and refreshments costs just £90 per person. There are no single supplements either. What's stained glass mosaic? Also known as glass appliqué, it's a style of glass art that uses offcuts of stained glass that would otherwise be wasted. Instead you get to transform them into a work of art to take home and treasure. The light will be able to flood through your finished creation, painting your home with ever changing colours and patterns of light as the sun moves. See our website for more information (sorry, we can't include a link here). What can I make? In a day, you can make a panel of around A5 size, with an almost unlimited number of pieces. You don't need to be able to cut glass; if your hands aren't strong enough, you can still make something beautiful from our huge range of precut pieces of glass. Is there an age limit? Under-18s (and over 80s too!) can take part, if they're safe handling sharp pieces of glass. Under-18s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult who's also taking part. Where are you and how do I get there? We're on the A252 in Chilham, midway between Ashford (Kent), Canterbury and Faversham. We're a 15 minute stroll from Chilham railway station (for services between London, Canterbury & Ramsgate; change at Ashford if you're catching the high speed train out of London). Chilham is also served by a number of buses from Ashford and Canterbury and is a short way from national cycle route 18. If you're coming to enjoy the area for several days, do bring your walking shoes & / or your cycle. Beautiful Chilham village is on the North Downs Way, a long distance footpath with stunning views, & has lots of other walking and cycling routes too.

What's included in the price?

The cost of £90 includes materials and use of all necessary tools, together with free on-site parking, lunch and refreshments. Special diets can be catered for if you let us know in advance.

I'd been working with glass for over 30 years before starting to teach glass art in 2014. I've exhibited with the Contemporary Glass Society and at the International Festival of Glass as well as taking part in masterclasses in glass fusing and glass casting. There are few things I love more than sharing my passion for glass art with other people, whether complete beginners or people with years of experience under their belts. Come, try a course and see if you love it as much as I do! If you'd like to book more places than are shown on the site, please get in touch. Not all availability is shown on here, as I also take bookings through my own website. So there might be room for a larger group. Mattt
