Learn about the art of fused glass within this relaxed, small group workshop.
You will be free to create your own designs and explore ideas with lots of personal attention. This mean that you be guaranteed to take away fused glass pieces that exceed you expectations as a beginner.
Within the workshop you will learn how to cut glass safely, learn about the different types of glass available to fuse with and experiment with the effects they create. You will be able to make fused items with a range of glass, metals and fibre papers to create 3 or 4 pieces during your day. These could include a coaster, small dish, freestanding suncatcher or hanging picture.
Helen is happy to run fused glass days for friends on alternative dates so if there are 2 of you wanting to have a fun day out doing something creative and a little different then get in touch. With 3 or more people you will all receive a 10% discount on the price of the fusing workshop.
As a former secondary school art teacher with 16yrs experience Helen is happy to teach students of 11 years plus, but does request that a parent remains with any young person coming on a workshop.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All glass and kiln firing are included in the workshop price. Items will be fired after the workshop and ready for collection 2 weeks later. Please bring your own lunch; tea, coffee and cold drinks will be provided.

Our second visit to Helen - this time a 2 day workshop. Helen is a great teacher - providing gentle guidance and inspiration. She is extraordinarily generous with her glass and other resources. We had a fab 2 days and can really recommend Helen's workshops - you won't be disappointed!
I have done a few fused glass days with Helen and will return again. It's great fun, relaxing and I've made some nice pieces. Helen is an excellent teacher, and very friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
I have done 2 courses so far, Helen is an amazing teacher and let's you explore your creativity whilst being there to guide you through one of the most addictive crafts I have ever done. I cannot wait to go back for more.
Helen was more than accommodating in designing a course around my needs and experience (or lack of) within the world of glass. Helen is an excellent tutor and would recommend anyone attending a course with her.
I have completed several courses with Helen. Each time she teaches me something new I feel thrilled that I am capable of creating it. She is a wonderful teacher and knows how to suggest tweaks to get the most out of any project. I highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to learn something new and creative. 5 stars!
I brought the course for my mum and I to try. It was fantastic! Helen was a great teacher and the atmosphere was really friendly:supportive day day was relaxed and fun! We both made beautiful pieces and met a lovely couple. I would 100% reccomend doing this and would definitely come again myself with a project!
had a great time, thoroughly enjoyed myself. I had a bit of experience previously but had forgotten a lot and Helen gave me confidence and great advice and direction in a friendly and interested way. She really is a superb teacher, I learnt more from her in one day than I had in the past over several sessions with someone else. Will definitely return for another class.
I have been wanting to try my hand at fused glass for a while and was so pleasd when I found Helen's classes. I decided to treat myself and a friend for my birthday and we could not have chosen a better way to spend the day! Helen soon put us at our ease and has a really good way of communicating all the skills needed to cut glass etc. We were soon cutting away for our designs without even giving it a second thought and she was so generous with the supplies. When we picked up our first time efforts we were amazed by how well they turned out! It's really got us hooked and when we get the time we are hoping to return for another creative session. We would both thoroughly recommend the classes to anyone!
The day course is wonderfully informative, educational and fun! I was surprised how quickly we learnt to create pieces, and Helen's resources seem endless. If you've ever stood in a craft shop wanting to try everything you see, but couldn't afford to buy everything, this day course allows you to craft away to your hearts desire without any material outlay. I made 7 items, used lots of materials, gained experience, had the lovely Helen on hand at all times to answer my questions and guide me, and made personalised gifts for my friends and family - what a bargain!!! There's a reason this lovely lady is always booked up. Please do not hesistate to book this course.
I have done two, and booked a third, course with Helen making fused glass bunting and then Christmas light catchers. She is patient and encouraging, and is good at letting you do things for yourself, but always willing to advise and help when asked. She has really inspirational examples to show, is generous with time and materials, and I'm already plotting my next designs!
What a fabulous day! I had a great time at the fused glass workshop yesterday, making three surprisingly substantial pieces. Helen is clearly a very talented artist and a skilled teacher too. Her easy-going style had us feeling creative in no time and my friends and I are all chomping at the bit to collect our masterpieces and book ourselves into another workshop with Helen. I can't wait!
I have attended 3 classes so far with Helen and am totally hooked. She is an excellent teacher - inspiring, patient and so very friendly. I will definitely be attending more of her classes in the future, and introducing my friends to this great craft.
Cracking course (not literally). After my first course I was hooked, been back a few times and built upon my skills. Helen is an excellent teacher and also brilliant with kids, I took my 11 year old and he enjoyed it so much he wants to go again and there are not many craft courses that appeal to boys! Planning a few more sessions for this year and even looking to set up a Rotary Club session.
Spent an amazing day with 2 friends at Helen's house. I was stunned at how many different pieces we were able to make and how many different techniques she taught (and re-taught!) us. Helen is fun, patient, encouraging and so creative. We were made very welcome in her lovely home and I am sure this is only the start of my glass fusion journey. Can't wait to go back and collect my masterpieces.
Great venue for small workshops, fantastic teacher, amazing value for money - highly recommended.
I went to one of these work shops a few years ago and loved it. I loved it so much that I enrolled in a course with the local adult education thinking it would be much the same. What a mistake that was, I learnt more in one day on Helens course than in 3 months with the adult ed course. I also left Helen's course with some beautiful items and nothing I would show the dog from the other course. I would highly recommend this course as it is money well spent and a great fun day
I have been on lots of Helen's glass fusing workshops and I am completely addicted! Helen is a great teacher, patient, encouraging and has helped me to develop my ideas and skills. The workshops are fun, relaxed and informative. With only a few students you get lots of one to one teaching /advice from Helen much better than large classes. I recommend Helen's workshops for anyone who wants to give glass fusing a go or has previous experience and wants to learn more. Can't wait to do more fusing.
Wow, what a day. My sister & i met Helen at a Christmas craft fair. We loved what she had done, so booked in for her Christmas glass decorations. It was a half day (2.5hrs) course, but in that time we learnt so much. Now cant wait to pick up our finished items. We made a Christmas tree tea light each, tree hanging decorations, & items for jewellery. So much in so little time. Thank you Helen, i think we've found a new hobby. Looking forward to more classes in the new year.
had alovely day with Helen and two friends. We worked through different ways of using the different types of fusing glass and experimented with them using pictures as a stimulus, then went on to make our own landscapes. Helen was very informative and is an excellent teacher, very relaxed and able to turn mistakes into positives. I am so looking forwaard to my next course with her.
Two of us came in May and we brought two others with us this time. A great day enjoyed by all and we produced so many items under Helen's care. Helen advises and comments on our designs when asked but at no time imposed her views on us. In this way we all retained ownership of our ideas. Can't wait to see the results!
I thoroughly enjoyed the beginners class I took with Helen. She teaches in a relaxed manner. I learned the basics and was then able to use my own designs- under her instructions-to achieve exactly what I wanted.
Helen is a great teacher and explains everything slowly and precisely. I learnt all the basics and enjoyed every second of my day course. I came away so excited to pick up the pieces we made and I wasn't disappointed when we did pick them up! Thoroughly recommend any classes that Helen teaches.
Excellent day learning all about cutting, layering and shapes, using fritt and stringers. At the end of the day I had made a sun catcher, coaster and a number of pendents. Helen is an amazing teacher always positive and helpfull. I love fused glass and it all started with a course for Christmas from my husband with Helen Rose Glass. I can't speak highly enough of Helen and if you want to learn about glass Helen has a varied and full programme to offer.
Helen is a wonderful teacher, I've now been on two sessions with her and found both highly enjoyable and very productive! Helen was happy to help as much or as little as needed which meant you could be as independent and creative as possible, on both sessions me and my family managed to make a number of items which turned out very well especially considering I'd never worked with glass at all!
5 stars and I really do recommend Helen as a teacher! I'm already saving for my next session
