This course is a brief introduction to kiln-formed glass. We start with learning to cut glass, and then progress onto making a small drinks coaster, light-catcher or small picture using either cut glass or glass frits and powders, and perhaps paints. We cover the basics of fusing and touch on the design principles for glass.
The glass is fused in the kiln for 24 hours and can be collected later the same week.
You also get a brief introduced to various cutting, grinding and polishing machines and materials.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course

What's included in the price?
Included in the price is the glass you will use, the firing costs and the use of the tools and machinery.
People work at different rates and have different requirements so some people spend a lot of time on their pieces and some people whizz through and want to make more pieces. A second piece can be made if time permits and there will be an extra charge for this, which will be in the region of £4.50 for a drinks coaster to cover the cost of the glass and the firing.
Workshops that run over time may be charged at £20 per hour for the excess time.
Refreshments are provided free. Lunch can be provided at an extra charge by prior arrangments. The local pub The New Inn at Wendron do, however, have really good food.
