Glass fusing for Christmas - taster day
Description
Join us for a festive day of glass fusing and slumping in our spacious Kent studio. Come and find out what it's all about; all tools and materials provided (and lunch too!). Come and explore warm glass with us, using both float glass and then Bullseye fusing glass. A generous quantity of materials, lunch and refreshments are included. You'll impress yourself with what you can create! Artistic ability is useful but by no means essential. If you've not played with glass before, don't worry. We'll teach you and soon have you cutting with confidence. You can even make something beautiful without cutting glass at all! If you've already done some fusing, this is your opportunity to try something a bit more advanced or perhaps to learn some new techniques. We have a wide range of colourful sheet glass, frit, stringers (think "glass spaghetti") and more. Come and be spoiled for choice. What can I make? You can make coasters, small dishes, window hangings or even art for your garden. The choice is yours; the smaller the items, the more you can make. Can I take my glass creations home with me? Yes, but not on the day. Your glass will be fused after your course & will be in the kiln for at least 24 hours. If you'd like it slumped to make it 3D, it'll then need to go back into the kiln again. After fusing, you can come & collect it or it can be posted to you (this typically costs around £8.50 depending on its size & weight- we pack it well to ensure that it arrives in the right number of pieces!).
What's included in the price?
Included in the cost of the course are a generous amount of float glass for learning to cut & for your first creation. Also included is enough Bullseye sheet glass to make something up to 17 x 17cm- either one large creation or several smaller ones; it’s up to you. Also included in our Glass Fusing for Christmas course is the option of festive nibbles and fizz at the end of the day- if you can tear yourself away from the studio, that is! On-site parking, refreshments and lunch are included too, If you have special dietary requirements, please let us know well in advance.

Maker
I'd been working with glass for over 30 years before starting to teach glass art in 2014. I've exhibited with the Contemporary Glass Society and at the International Festival of Glass as well as taking part in masterclasses in glass fusing and glass casting. There are few things I love more than sharing my passion for glass art with other people, whether complete beginners or people with years of experience under their belts. Come, try a course and see if you love it as much as I do! If you'd like to book more places than are shown on the site, please get in touch. Not all availability is shown on here, as I also take bookings through my own website. So there might be room for a larger group. Mattt
