About the Course
Claire offers glass fusing workshops in her fully equipped studio on the first floor at Fisherton Mill. Workshops are by arrangement on a day to suit you, including Saturdays, and last approximately 2 to 2 and a half hours.
Workshops cost £49 each if booked for two or more people, or £59 for a one-to-one session. Please get in touch for more options and for children's workshops.
The range of projects Claire offers is outlined below:
Introduction to Glass Fusing
An introduction to the basics of glass fusing and you will learn about selecting materials, compatibility, glass cutting, design and assembling techniques, using inclusions and kiln firing techniques for different effects. You will make two or three small items such as a hanging decoration, a suncatcher, a keyring, mini tiles for mounting onto a frame, etc.
Explore different techniques for fused glass jewellery making and experiment with dichroic glass, inclusions and findings. Make several different sized cabochons and select appropriate findings to make a pendant, earrings, a ring and cufflinks. Price includes basic stainless steel or silver plated/coloured findings - sterling silver findings are available at additional cost.
Coaster/Trinket Dish Workshop
Suitable for beginners, this workshop introduces you to the basics of glass fusing and you will learn about selecting materials, compatibility, glass cutting, design and assembling techniques, using inclusions and kiln firing for different effects. You can make a set of two 10 x 10 cm coasters (matching or not!) or a 9 x 9 cm trinket dish.
Tea-light Holder / Candle Screen Workshop
Create either a set of two tea-light holders or a single candle screen. Beginners can opt for simple but effective designs, whereas those with some experience can be a little more adventurous! A great workshp to explore your creative side and make a lasting piece of glass art to be proud of.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Prices include all tuition, equipment, basic materials required for each project and kiln firings. Additional materials will be charged at cost.
Fisherton Mill is the largest independent Gallery complex in the south and has an onsite, award winning, Cafe on the ground floor. The Gallery Café's varied menu changes to suit the seasons and the recipes often use fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Pop in for a coffee, a cup of tea and a piece of cake, or something more substantial either before or after your workshop.
There is always something delicious to choose from - for lunch, try a generously filled sandwich or something warm, such as some hearty soup in winter, or a healthy salad in the summer, all washed down with a glass of wine, some elderflower or home-made minty limeade.
Fantastic morning with Claire and learnt so much about techniques I could use with my kiln. Would highly recommend this course to anyone who either is a total novice or has some experience of working with glass. Thank you for a wonderful morning

Relaxed, informative and fun workshop, and we're both really pleased with what we produced. Would definitely recommend this workshop. Thanks Claire.

attended a course earlier this month with my daughters, we all loved it. It is the second visit and we will be back in the future. We all made pieces with a christmassy theme that can be brought out year after year as they look so pretty. Once you have attended a course you want to go back as you learn more each time and each piece is so individual. Claire is very patient and explains everything as you go along. I would definitely recommend it if you like creating things.

Claire is a great teacher who explains and demonstrates but allows each person to enjoy and experiment with the glass. I have been on several workshops and have made some lovely pieces. Some I have given as presents and some have been given pride of place in my sitting room.
If you want an activity where you can totally immerse yourself in and de stress this is the one for you. Plus good value for money.

We have been on two workshops with Claire as part of a family ‘girls day out’. Claire is friendly and supportive, sharing her own work to inspire! It is a lovely workshop as even the most basic designs look beautiful once fused. We all made items to keep as well as gifts for others. The setting is perfect too as the cafe and shop are a fab place to spend an hourbor so after the workshop. We will be back again in the near future. Thank you Claire.

Claire ran a fantastic, informative and relaxed glass making course. My Mum and I had such a lovely time together. We thoroughly enjoyed it and the results were lovely. I’m looking forward to putting my children’s decorations back up again this Christmas. Thank you Claire!

Enjoyed a very informative workshop with Claire and although this was my first attempt at glass fusing both the Christmas tree and glass hanging ornament look very professional. Would definitely recommend her workshops to others. I'm hoping to go again in 2018 as glass fusing is certainly addictive and also very relaxing. Thank you Claire.
