Lorna reviewed: Training course in upcycling with pallets. An introduction to making furniture with pallets for beginners

"Really enjoyable and comprehensive course. Scott is a fantastic tutor with loads of great tips and advice, both on how to create things from pallets but also where to spend your money when it comes to buying tools and equipment. I was really chuffed with the potting tray I created on the day, and feel much more confident to create more things with pallet wood. I feel I have a solid understanding of the basics that will mean I can have a go making boxes, tables, stools, all sorts really. Thank you Scott for a great day. :)"

Black Paw upcycle project responded:

"Hi Lorna So glad you enjoyed the day. Nice to know you are now one of us and you can't now walk past a pallet without thinking "I could make something amazing out of you" "

Andy Taylor reviewed: Spoon Carving at Manor Wood

"I recently had the pleasure of attending a Spoon Carving course with Matt at Manor Wood, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. Matt's expertise in using an axe for carving and his mastery of the spoon knife were absolutely impressive. His knowledge and passion for the craft were evident from the start, making the learning process enjoyable and engaging. The course was well-structured, allowing us to progress at a comfortable pace. Matt was patient and attentive, providing individual guidance and support whenever needed. He shared invaluable tips and techniques, ensuring that I truly understood the art of spoon carving. Beyond the technical aspect, Matt created a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the workshop. By the end of the course, I had not only carved a beautiful spoon but also gained a newfound confidence in using an axe and spoon knife. Matt's passion and expertise were truly inspiring, and I left with a sense of accomplishment that I will cherish. I highly recommend Matt's Spoon Carving course at Manor Wood to anyone interested in learning this traditional craft. You'll not only gain valuable skills but also enjoy a fun and fulfilling experience under his guidance. Thank you, Matt, for an incredible day of learning and laughter!"

Vaho reviewed: DIY Japanese carving craft box/kit (Forget-Me-Not)

"The finished picture looks good in the window, however, I feel it is expensive for what you get, and can't quite work out where the cost comes in given everything except the nibs of the 2 tools is plastic. Not sure what the gel you carve into is made of, but I'm sure it would not justify the cost. Also it is small, and difficult to see the lines (but it doesn't matter too much if you do accidentally go over the lines as the picture behind will ask that) Overall I enjoyed the carving and the finished product, but it's too expensive for what you get and too much plastic in these days of sustainability."

"I took my teenage boys to this as a half-term treat and we loved it! We've never done glass fusing before but Penny was really welcoming & a great teacher, so we had a very happy afternoon experimenting and creating a range of pieces. We can't wait to see the results and would love to come back to make more. Thank you Penny! (If you have teenagers too, it turns out that cutting/breaking up glass is a big hit :-) )"

Through the Arch - Fused Glass responded:

"Thank you Estella for this review. Your boys were perfect gentlemen who were quick to learn and showed talent in handling and cutting glass in this, their first experience of fused glass. You should all be very proud of your results, which will be winging their way to you soon. I thoroughly enjoyed working with you all. 😊"
