Calligraphy workshops with Julie Chaney cater to a mix of abilities from absolute beginners to those wishing to improve and each student is personally tutored according to their level. BEGINNERS will learn the basics of forming beautiful letters using traditional dip pen and ink. A variety of scripts are offered using both pointed nibs and broad-edged pens. IMPROVERS will be encouraged to build on their lettering skills with refinements and variations whilst learning about elements of design and incorporating art techniques in their work. Such a mix of abilities and skills leads to a better depth (and often speed) of learning for everyone. Full Day, Morning and Afternoon sessions are available. All classes can be booked individually with no commitment beyond each workshop. A maximum number of eight places are available per session to provide personal tutoring. The venue is a light and airy room within Ogilvie Hall with its own kitchen and WC. Car-parking is free. Disabled facilities include parking, access ramps and toilets. Nearest railway station is Manningtree, a short taxi ride away (1.2 miles).

What's included in the price?

Basic calligraphy materials to get you started are included.  Extra supplies will be available to buy. You'll need to bring a few items with you such as pencil, ruler, etc, but a list will be provided on booking.
