Gaynor is an excellent tutor, but she's also a wonderful human. She has a great eye for detail, she can point out and guide on your mistakes even in an online class. I enjoyed my calligraphy sessions with Gaynor. Thanks Gaynor & see you soon 🙏.

I've been doing calligraphy for years and have been to a couple of Gaynor's workshops in the past, but I wanted to try something different so signed up for a 1:1 course in experimental Versals. Gaynor is an excellent tutor and doing this on a 1:1 basis is really helpful as there's no distraction. I also have the recording so I don't lose any advice and can refer to it whenever I need some guidance on letterforms.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I highly recommend Gaynor’s courses. I have taken a Copperplate course as well as a Modern Calligraphy course with Gaynor during the pandemic. Her materials are thorough and make a great reference for future use after your course. I liked that I could go at my own pace and I found. Her comments and coaching very helpful. I found doing a correspondence course to be much better than a course crammed in over a few days as you need time to practise and your muscle memory builds over time. Gaynor has a lot of experience teaching and I grew confident in my penmanship while taking her courses. I now have calligraphy skills I will use for the rest of my life thanks to her.

I've done a few of these 4-lesson classes with Gaynor - I think the fact I keep coming back for more says it all. I really felt it was a privilege to learn from such an esteemed and expert calligrapher. The lessons were clearly explained and fun to complete. Gaynor's feedback was always to useful in pinpointing how to improve and advising on what to do next. I will definitely be back.

I love doing the online calligraphy courses with Gaynor because I feel I have finally made some progress due to her expertise and depth of knowledge - actually there is nothing that she doesn't know about italics ! Over the last 2 years, Gaynor has kindled and inspired my love of calligraphy and when I finish one lesson I can't wait to get on to the next one. There is the added bonus of not being under pressure to meet deadlines as you can do it at your own pace to suit your lifestyle. It is a very exciting and enjoyable journey in the art of beautiful writing and I can't recommend the online courses with Gaynor more.

I've been working with Gaynor via correspondence for 2 1/2 years, both with her 4-lesson courses and on my own special projects, and it has been an excellent experience. The exercises and examples she has provided in the courses have been clear and detailed, and her spot-on feedback on the individual projects has enabled me to start developing my eye for design and layout. Gaynor provides a solid foundation for beginning students, and teaches more advanced students how to refine and realise their calligraphic ideas. Calligraphy by correspondence really does work, and I highly recommend Gaynor's courses.

I was really keen to reignite my passion for calligraphy having had a few lessons some years ago but then not been able to find any evening classes etc near me. I’m so pleased I finally found Gaynor - I now attend the day sessions about once a month. The sessions are in small groups and Gaynor tailors her teaching to whatever script or project you want to tackle. I’ve been able to start working towards the CLAS National Diploma. Because the sessions are so bespoke (not to mention friendly and welcoming!) I think they represent excellent value for money, and Gaynor’s skill and expertise are certainly second to none. I have progressed so much over the last year under her tutelage. I would highly recommend!

Attended several times with my partner. Fantastic sessions. Always great fun. Gaynor is extremely welcoming and a fantastic host and teacher. Half a session usually gives you enough time to learn the basics of a script or go into more detail and advance on them with flourishes or perfecting spacing etc. Every session we've come out with a wealth of new knowledge and worth our 2hr return trips everytime. Fantastic price for stunning results immediately!

We started this as a wedding project but have carried it on because we enjoy it so much. From day one we learnt the basics of calligraphy and were taught to write uncial script and produce a finished piece. Gaynor is a great teacher and extremely welcoming providing drinks and biscuits. We thoroughly enjoy our sessions and seeing our progress. We can't recommend Gaynor highly enough.

A very reasonably priced day with an excellent calligrapher and tutor. Gaynor has a talent for moving you along at your own individual pace and most pupils achieve a piece of writing by the end of the day.

Gaynor is a very patient and supportive teacher who has very precise attention to detail, often making the slightest adjustments to the way you work, which would have been impossible to pick up through online tutorials and are so invaluable to improving your calligraphy. The workshops have an informal and friendly atmosphere, with students of all levels attending. I always leave the sessions feeling full of inspiration and motivation!

Unlike many experts, Gaynor does not have a rigid and inflexible approach to teaching her art. She manages a class of all abilities and interests, giving sufficient attention to each. It always amazes me how she manages to switch instantly between scripts for individual demonstrations. I came to her after a frustrating series of lessons elsewhere in which I was never allowed to progress beyond two pencils strapped together. Gaynor quickly had me practising with a dip pen in several different scripts and does not insist on perfection before moving on to something new. She is always happy to go with ones interests, rather than teaching to a strict order of attainment, which is very refreshing.

Ghislaine Tibbs - - #6006

Informal classes with one of the country's leading calligraphers. Students are encouraged to work on their own projects, whether it is wedding invitations or CLAS qualifications. It is possible to work on many different scripts as Gaynor is happy to tailor the workshop to your individual needs.
