"I attended my first session of pointed pen cursive (virtual) with Gaynor this morning. I enjoyed myself thoroughly but the hour went so quickly that I plan to have at least one subsequent session with her. Gaynor is patient and encouraging which is just what I needed. She is generous to answer questions and offer tips. She is very talented! It's so helpful to have the recording so I can review the information. It was a great experience!"

"I've been doing calligraphy for years and have been to a couple of Gaynor's workshops in the past, but I wanted to try something different so signed up for a 1:1 course in experimental Versals. Gaynor is an excellent tutor and doing this on a 1:1 basis is really helpful as there's no distraction. I also have the recording so I don't lose any advice and can refer to it whenever I need some guidance on letterforms. Thoroughly enjoyed it!"

"I highly recommend Gaynor’s courses. I have taken a Copperplate course as well as a Modern Calligraphy course with Gaynor during the pandemic. Her materials are thorough and make a great reference for future use after your course. I liked that I could go at my own pace and I found. Her comments and coaching very helpful. I found doing a correspondence course to be much better than a course crammed in over a few days as you need time to practise and your muscle memory builds over time. Gaynor has a lot of experience teaching and I grew confident in my penmanship while taking her courses. I now have calligraphy skills I will use for the rest of my life thanks to her."

"I have always had great interest in Calligraphy but found that I could rarely find formal classes to help improve my writing. I looked for alternatives online when I came across Gaynor Goffe's website. Looking at the various online correspondence classes, I enrolled in an initial course to see how it would be. I was impressed with a number of items. Without being physically present and via correspondence, Gaynor was able to identify areas for improvement and guide me when I needed to correct my pen angle and letter strokes. Two years later, I am still completing Gaynor's classes. When I complete a course for one script, I am always looking forward to learning the next. Gaynor always replies very quickly, provides detailed critique and all of the feedback notes received are clear and easy to understand. Gaynor also provides guidance when completing a project, which is very helpful and I am able to work at my own pace. I would definitely recommend Gaynor's classes as they provide a wealth of information required to further your calligraphic journey."

The exercises and examples she has provided in the courses have been clear and detailed, and her spot-on feedback on the individual projects has enabled me to start developing my eye for design and layout. Gaynor provides a solid foundation for beginning students, and teaches more advanced students how to refine and realise their calligraphic ideas. She started from scratch and gave us step by step guidance to produce final pictures which we were absolutely delighted with. "I was really keen to reignite my passion for calligraphy having had a few lessons some years ago but then not been able to find any evening classes etc near me. I’m so pleased I finally found Gaynor - I now attend the day sessions about once a month. The sessions are in small groups and Gaynor tailors her teaching to whatever script or project you want to tackle. I’ve been able to start working towards the CLAS National Diploma. Because the sessions are so bespoke (not to mention friendly and welcoming!) I think they represent excellent value for money, and Gaynor’s skill and expertise are certainly second to none. I have progressed so much over the last year under her tutelage. I would highly recommend!"

"We started this as a wedding project but have carried it on because we enjoy it so much. From day one we learnt the basics of calligraphy and were taught to write uncial script and produce a finished piece. Gaynor is a great teacher and extremely welcoming providing drinks and biscuits. Half a session usually gives you enough time to learn the basics of a script or go into more detail and advance on them with flourishes or perfecting spacing etc. Every session we've come out with a wealth of new knowledge and worth our 2hr return trips everytime. "I haven't tried producing any art since my school days 30 years ago so I had fairly low expectations for the end result of my pet portrait. However, I was extremely happy and actually very surprised that the portrait of my dog came out so true to life! I have received so many compliments on the portrait, but the credit goes to Gaynor for breaking down the process in such an easy to understand way. It just goes to show that drawing and shading can be a learned process and that you do not need to be a natural! Gaynor is very knowledgeable and approachable and her methods are easy to grasp, so I cannot recommend her course highly enough."

"Unlike many experts, Gaynor does not have a rigid and inflexible approach to teaching her art. She manages a class of all abilities and interests, giving sufficient attention to each. It always amazes me how she manages to switch instantly between scripts for individual demonstrations. I came to her after a frustrating series of lessons elsewhere in which I was never allowed to progress beyond two pencils strapped together. Gaynor quickly had me practising with a dip pen in several different scripts and does not insist on perfection before moving on to something new. She is always happy to go with ones interests, rather than teaching to a strict order of attainment, which is very refreshing."
