Introduction to calligraphy - foundational hand

X

Description

On this Introduction to calligraphy workshop with artist Panna Chauhan you will begin with an introduction to the basics of calligraphy including the different types of nibs, correct sizing of letters and how to hold the pen with the right tension to achieve a fluid letter. You will spend the morning learning and practicing letter forms in the basic 'foundational' hand, under Panna's watchful eye. After a break for lunch, you will learn how to apply your traditional calligraphy skills to creating an abstract piece of calligraphy which you will take home as a reminder of your day, and to inspire you to continue practising using the pack of practice sheets provided. More Information The Arienas Collective workshops are run from a supportive and welcoming home-based environment within Edinburgh’s City Centre Georgian New Town. We invite you to turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique. Spaces on our workshops are limited so that our artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Due to COVID-19, we have had to adapt the way we run our workshops and there may be some changes to the way it is delivered. This workshop is also available to book for private group get-togethers; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; for corporate team building and well-being purposes; and can be brought to a location of your choice. Please email us or phone 07732 901150 for more information.
