(Due to Covid-19, I am currently only able to accommodate a maximum of two people for each workshop)
Join me in the studio, located in the heart of the seaside town of Bude.
I have been working with stained glass since 1993 and am excited to share my knowledge. Come and experience the joy of creating your own piece of fused glass where you will learn to safely cut glass and explore an exciting assortment of coloured and accessory glass including frit and stringers as well as copper inclusions and dichroic glass.
In the morning you will be learning to cut glass, and I will be introducing you to a huge variety of glass accessories and embellishments. You will then make a light catcher to practice using some of these materials. In the afternoon you will be making a glass picture using your new-found knowledge and skills.
Classes are usually made up of a maximum of 2 people to ensure individual attention and to give plenty of space to each person.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All safety equipment, materials and use of tools and the firing of your glass pieces are included in the price.
I will provide refreshments and biscuits throughout the day, but you will need to bring a packed lunch, or there are plenty of bakeries, sandwich and pasty shops nearby as we are in the centre of Bude.
Your work will need to be fused in the kiln, so it can be collected a few days after the workshop or posted to you at a small charge to cover the cost of postage and packing.

Response from Melissa Wellby Glass:Hi Catherine,
I had a really enjoyable glass fusing day with Melissa, she was very knowledgeable and patient. I would recommend the day.
I completed a Tiffany glass class on Tuesday with Melissa. What a lovely lady and very clever, patient and great at teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed making a beach hut and dragonfly, they are beautiful. It’s the first class I have done with Melissa but I shall be booking into the Fusion class as I had such a great day.
I completed a one day Tiffany Glass course with Melissa Wellby in Bude, having previously enjoyed the One day Glass fusing course. It was brilliant!!! I made a beach hut and a dragonfly and I’m in love with the creativity and possibilities glass gives. Melissa is very patient , gave loads of encouragement and hints and tips, sharing her 29yrs experience and nothing was too much trouble. Very relaxed it was excellent

Melissa is absolutely lovely and has a wealth of knowledge and experience , I felt very privileged tone shown into her amazing world. Will defiantly e going back for more
Melissa is a fantastic teacher and incredibly skilled. She is great at explaining how things work, and she is very encouraging and supportive! There are lots of different colours and types of glass to work with, as well as extra little things like frit (ground-up glass) and tiny fused glass blobs. It's a lot of fun to make a little picture - I really liked playing around with how things looked and trying different colours and all of that!
It's a really nice introduction to working with glass: you learn some new skills while in a relaxed environment, and I'd definitely recommend it.
I spent a lovely day with Melissa in her cosy glass studio. I learnt how to safely cut glass and how to put together a glass piece ready to be fused. Melissa was was very knowledgeable and her instructions were easy to understand which made me feel at ease. There were plenty of different coloured glass pieces to choose from along with lots of other shiny bits and bobs to use. Best of all I created something I absolutely love and I'm so proud of!! I would absolutely recommend this workshop and I'll definitely be attending more in the future.
