About the Course
Come along to the Forest of Dean and spend the day with me in my workshop, creating a small stained glass window using the copper foil technique. Learn the skills of cutting glass, soldering, foiling and edging in lead. You will finish with a colourful window panel to display in your home.
The class starts at 9.30 (or can be 10am if you have further to travel - just let me know if you prefer that time) and finishes at around 4pm.
You will make a panel that is 18cm x 18cm square. I have lots of designs to choose from as it can be a bit tricky to use designs brought from home because there is maximum number of pieces of glass that can be cut in a day.
I teach the copper foil method for stained glass - feel free to google this beforehand if you are not sure what this means! We will also use traditional lead came to create a frame for the piece.
Important information: this class is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers due to the use of lead. For everyone else, please be reassured that I supply gloves and fume masks as well as running a fume extractor.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
There will be a lunchtime break as well as a few tea breaks in between. You will need to bring along a packed lunch.
All materials are included in the cost of the course, all you need to remember is to wear sensible footwear and clothes that you won't worry about spoiling. I provide aprons and all safety protection, for example goggles and dust masks.
The maximum I teach at one time is 3 so that everyone gets plenty of 1 to 1 time to help them with the various different skills needed for stained glass. It is a relaxed day and you will go home having learnt several new skills and with a piece of stained glass to be proud of.
We had a fantastic day at Jo's studio. She was an excellent teacher - explaining everything fully and carefully. There were plenty of designs to choose from and so much variety and colours of glass. We felt very proud and had such a sense of achievement by the end of the day with our panels. We all said we'd definitely like to have another day. Thank you Jo, would highly recommend!

I did this day course with my mum and we were both complete beginners. Jo taught us the different stages at a reasonable pace and with lots of demonstration and help when needed. We were both thrilled with our stained glass panels. I can highly recommend this course.
