Lindsay MacVicar reviewed: Beginners polymer clay festive workshop

"Extensive range of materials, very well organised day. Everything was prepared and ready for us. Jen was patient and helpful. There was a relaxed friendly atmosphere and a lot of thought had gone into making it a fun and productive workshop. I felt the price of the workshop was very reasonable given the extent of materials provided and level of tuition / help given."

Lucy Croft reviewed: Stained glass weekly classes in Sheffield (South Yorkshire)

"I attended this course with my 16 year old daughter and we totally enjoyed it. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere but we learnt so much and are totally hooked! I've signed up for another course and have lots of projects I can't wait to get on with, with the reassurance that I have expert help to hand when I get stuck. All the students on our course ended up making very impressive, professional looking, final pieces. I can highly recommend it!"

Alister Harpur reviewed: Wood turning courses

"A return visit to George after some 11-weeks spent clearing and repairing a small garage in order to embark on Woodturning as a retirement hobby. We agreed it was important to spend the day understanding correct use of tools and sharpening before embarking on projects on my own (new) lathe. Again, thank you to George for a most enjoyable day, his factual, sympathetic and reassuring instruction is much appreciated and already proving beneficial. Many thanks also for Sue’s hospitality keeping me well topped up with coffee and a filling soup for lunch followed by mince pie."

Susan Perkes reviewed: Weekly Art Classes with Julie Sajous

"Julie is great at encouraging you whatever level you are. I regularly go to her classes to continue to develop and learn in a relaxed atmosphere. It is my 'me-time' and even though I have been painting for years, Julie always manages to get me to look and learn something new. Classes are small so everyone gets the chance to be helped individually. The tea and home-made muffins are just the icing on the cake!!!"

Tiana reviewed: Mindful Mosaic workshops with Dionne Ible - Bedfordshire

"Dionne is very good at making mosaicing easier and accessible to people who have never done this sort of thing before but also catering for experienced people. The workshop was very engaging and so much fun, perfect for families and people who would like to try new things. She provided a range of equipment which allowed us to be creative and go with our imaginations. Dionne really drew out my creative side and helped me achieved two mosaic plaques that I am really pleased with. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend you to try out and maybe discover a new love for mosaicing!"

Brian Aldridge reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"If there was an 'outstanding' rating as part of this evaluation - Mark would have achieved it within the first hour. I am - or was - a complete non-starter in that I had no prior experience, very little idea and absolutely no confidence. And as with all learning, if you feel happy and trust the tutor, you've started in the best way possible. I've worked with teachers and tutors of all sorts, professionally and as part of my attempts to fill retired life and Mark is without doubt, one of the very best I've met. He not only engaged me personally but involved me in the learning process to determine what and how I should learn. His minutely detailed knowledge and determination to ensure that I received the very best possible day, made the day itself fly by. His excellent guidance notes, his flair for filling in the details of why it was being demonstrated in a particular manner and the sheer depth of Mark's knowledge made it an absolute treasure of a day. I took away lots of materials, and a bowl, but also the trusted promise that I would receive any future help Mark could give me. An artist, a craftsman and a gent. Thanks Mark for a marvellous day."

Les reviewed: Wet felting expressive landscapes in wools and silks

"I've been asked to thank you on behalf of everyone who attended your recent workshop on how to felt a landscape. We all enjoyed it very much. With so many beautiful colours of wools and silks to choose from and your patience and helpful instructions we all had an enjoyable time. You made it easy for us to achieve a good result in our first attempts at felting. Would definitely arrange more workshops in the future for our members with mobility issues in possibly another venue. It's so good to get together and make new things. Les"

Felting in Devon responded:

"Hi Les Thank you for your comments. It means a lot that the group enjoyed their felting experience with me. I had a great time working with them and the results were awesome. I look forward to coming back again. Best wishes. Judi"

"Just spent a fantastic few days with Steve making a workbench. The course content was good for a beginner woodworker and the bench is well designed and really solid. Steve is a really approachable and encouraging teacher. His skill and patience not only allowed me to make a great bench but also helped my confidence to start some small projects of my own. A big thank you to Steve."

Bev Fitchett reviewed: Contemporary Furniture Refinishing & Upcycling with Woodcare - 2 Day Workshop

"I spent two days with Ollie, learning how to restore two pieces of (very tired) furniture, both of which are now enjoying a new lease of life. The work space is amazing, and surprisingly warm for this time of year! The atmosphere is relaxed as Ollie allows you to work at your own pace, whilst ensuring each piece of furniture is completed within the timescale. I decided to enrol on this course as I was interested to learn how to paint my own furniture to a reasonable standard. Well, I couldn't have been more pleased, as the items I completed on the course surpassed my expectations and the knowledge I have gained will definitely be put to good use. Practice makes perfect and today I bought my next piece that is need of some TLC; bring out the paint brushes! Thanks Ollie."

"Julie is an accomplished artist and a brilliant tutor, always constructive and encouraging but not afraid to push us to achieve. The small classes are structured around topics and different materials, ensuring that everyone finds a medium and style they really enjoy. We also have a lot of laughs and quite a lot of home-made cake!"

Fiona Dowle reviewed: Woven pod tapestry workshop

"We learnt how to weave a pod on a ready warped frame. We were provided with a very good set of instructions and a template to use to create our pod. There were plenty of Weavers Bazaar wools, in a great variety of colours, for us to use to weave our pods. Margaret Jones was always on hand to give advice and gave us plenty of encouragement! Towards the end of the session Margaret showed us how to create a pod from a sample she had woven and other members of the group created a pod form their woven areas. I was rather slow with my weaving but I was able to take the frame home I had used and I will finish mine soon! A very enjoyable day and I learnt a great deal about how to make a pod. It was great to see the pods that Margaret had created in different fibres. There were plenty of teas and coffees available and the cake Margaret provided was delicious!"

weaversbazaar responded:

"Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on the Pod Weaving Course it is much appreciated."

"Initially I thought this was going to be an expensive experience but I am so pleased to say that the wreaths my mum and myself made are superb! An added bonus having a glass of fizz on arrival."

"Such a great course, 2 days spent with Ollie and I am now obsessed with wood and furniture. It was a joy to be taught by such a great tutor, he is patient and has so much knowledge that he's quite happy to share and he is really good company.
