A fun day workshop suited to complete beginners. Experiment and explore wet felt-making with a variety of wool and plant fibres. Learn how to use carders and other techniques to make a colourful textural felted picture. With fibre and mixed media artist and tutor Josephine Gornall. Lots of samples of felt making to look at in my studio, where the class is based. We start with a practical demonstration of felt-making. An exploration of all the different wool and plant fibres that i have available for you to use. Then make a felted wool pictures. You can choose to make a seascape, landscape, floral or go abstract. Select from a wide choice of gorgeous coloured wools and plant fibres, yarns and fabrics. Explore blending and mixing wool colours and different types of fibres together. Learn about the differing properties of wool and plant fibres. Plus the lovely effects that can be achieved by using pieces of fabric in your felted picture. You can then embed wool/plant fibres, yarns and fabrics into the felted surface to create texture and form in your felted picture. The workshop is held in Josephine's spacious and warm studio in the lovely Birchcliffe Centre a converted chapel in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Free car park. There is a railway station and bus stop right outside the centre. Hebden Bridge is well known for its wonderful mix of independent shops plus lots of cafes. What's included in the price?

Small class. Suitable for all especially beginners. An abundance of wool and plant fibres, yarns and natural and fabrics will all be supplied. All use of equipment included. Teas, coffee and biscuits provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
