Simon Fletcher reviewed: Fused Glass Lanterns with Crafts in the Valley

"Had a lovely afternoon. I’m not artistic at all but we were given lots of guidance about how to use the colours for our patterns. Mince pie, mulled wine and coffee included! Other people on the course were very sociable and all told, it was a great experience. My lantern was great, by the way. Highly recommended."

Crafts in the Valley responded:

"Thank you for the lovely review. It was great having you and Santi in the class, lots of fun! And fabulous lanterns."

Peter Davis reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"Highly recommended and well worth the long trip from Newcastle. I also think it would be ideal therapy for anyone needing to clear their head from life’s stresses/anxieties for a while as it is totally absorbing. My wife and I are total novices so had no idea whether we’d be able to produce anything at all other than a pile of stone chippings. We ended up feeling very proud of our creations thanks to Sebastion’s expert guidance and encouragement along the way. He has a very nice relaxed and friendly approach and is happy to provide whatever level of guidance you want. We would happily go again Peter & Paula Davis"

Heidi reviewed: One-to-one 3 day lampshade making masterclass including business startup guide for crafters

"I had a great time with Moji. I learned a lot more from her 3-day course than just making lampshades. She gave me very valuable information about starting my own business, now everything seems clearer and it feels that she has shown me the right way to proceed. I feel so inspired and really excited about this new journey. Thank you Moji for teatcing the art of making lampshades and giving me great advice."

Moji Designs responded:

"Dear Heidi, Thank you so much for leaving such a nice review of your experience at my studio in Brighton. I also like to take this opportunity to thank you for coming all the way from France to learn the art of lampshade making with me and it was an absolute pleasure working with you. I wish you all the best with your new business. M x"

Jan and Jeanne reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"Neither of us had any experience of weaving, so this taster course provided by Jeremy was just the right level for us both. The looms had been prepared with different warp patterns to help us discover variations in finished weave from both changes to the warp and weft. After an explanation on how the looms had been prepared and how to work the leavers we were straight into weaving, starting with plain weave and changing to more complex lift sequences during the course of the day. We both completed a sampler to take home to study and keep as a memory of an interesting day. We enjoyed talking about design and seeing many examples of Jeremy’s work and looking at his mood boards discovering the inspiration for his beautiful finished pieces. He is a great tutor and his light and airy studio a wonderful venue for a fun and really enjoyable day’s weaving experience."

"Jo is such a skilled teacher. She made everything and anything seem possible. My sister and I treated one another to the course. We were both complete beginners and had no idea what to expect. By the end of the day we had each made a piece that we liked and had learnt a lot. The studio is lovely and Jo fostered a relaxed but productive atmosphere. I would recommend this course to anyone."

Lauren Misiukanis reviewed: Block Printing on fabric in Derbyshire.

"My best friend and I attended a block printing workshop with Liz last weekend. We both spend the week juggling work and family life and were looking forward to the chance to switch off and try something new. Liz was the perfect host, making us feel comfortable and at home in her beautiful studio, she even suggested we bring a pair of slippers! She had sent a detailed list prior to arrival so that we knew what to bring along and also how to find the studio. Liz took us through each stage of the process carefully, explaining the tools and materials as we went along. She also provided a goody bag to take home which included instructions and supplier information should we want to block print at home. We both left with an armful of printed goodies including gift tags, wrapping paper, fabric samples to make into lavender bags, tea towels, napkins and a table runner. Thank you Liz for a thoroughly enjoyable day. We both look forward to returning to your wonderful studio in the near future, your workshop was a real treat!"

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Lauren, So pleased that you enjoyed your workshop at The Slipper Studio and thank you for taking the time to tell me about your day - I have a big grin on my face! It was lovely working with you both, seeing your skills developing and ultimately creating some beautiful pieces - your Christmas will be enhanced with your napkins and table runner. Bert and I look forward to see you in 2022. Best wishes Liz Wellby"

Mike Payne reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"Great day at the forge. Everyone very friendly. It very quickly felt like a supportive family of novices and tutors. I think we were all surprised at just how much we could do in a day and everyone went home with things they never thought they were capable of creating. Being of a curious nature I wanted to know how everything worked (e.g. the Plasma Cutter and the MIG welder) and the tutors were more than happy to explain. Aidan even took the front off the MIG welder to show me the insides. Loved it !"

Julie Little reviewed: Linocut printmaking in Cornwall

"I thoroughly enjoyed my lino printing day with Olivia. The day was beautifully crafted, with a detailed introduction to the processes. There was plenty of resource material available but some of us had brought along suitable images to use which were traced onto the lino. We were encouraged to practise with the tools before tacking our piece. Olivia was on hand to answer questions and give advice all through the day. There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with tea, coffee and refreshments readily available. After lunch we started the printing with different papers and colours to hand. We were all able to finish the day with a number of successful prints and a desire to carry on learning more about the skills involved. I would thoroughly recommend one or if possible two days to really immerse yourself into the course under the excellent tutelage of Olivia."

Jacky reviewed: Introduction to glass fusion Morning half day taster (beginners)

"Sally is really good at giving you support where it's needed and leaving you to get on if you're doing ok. I knew nothing about glass fusion and was really nervous. Sally built on my love of the sea and guided me to what was possible. I've worked with glass in the past but Sally gave me more confidence than anyone else. Thoroughly recommend her as a tutor. Thanks Sally."

Craft Workshops responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review Jacky - I am so pleased your confidence grew in the workshop (and your fused glass pieces are lovely!). I look forward seeing you again in the workshop."

James Lodge reviewed: Damascus knife making in Grassington

"I managed to get a place on Richards course at the last minute and I am so pleased that I did. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and I can’t remember a time when a day has passed so quickly. The tuition was spot on just the right amount of guidance, advice, and a little help when needed but it left you feeling that you were absolutely the one that has made the knife from start to finish. If you have always wanted to give blade smithing a go then I can’t recommend this enough, but be warned you do leave with the feeling that you want to do more."

Marion McDowell reviewed: Glass fusing workshop - 1 day

"What a wonderful experience! I'd never tried working with glass before, but I couldn't have had a better teacher than Jill. She was so patient and really listened to what I wanted to achieve, and helped me to find a simple and effective approach suitable to my skillset that allowed me to create the projects I wanted to make. I achieved so much more than I thought I could! It was also so inspiring to see the fantastic art that she and other students have created and gave me all sorts of ideas for what I might do on a second excursion (because I have a feeling there will be one!) She and John are also spectacular cooks and hosts. We stayed for 2 nights very reasonable B&B. The accommodation was so comfortable and the food was incredibly tasty - no surprise when Jill also runs some great chocolate courses! I'm sure not every CraftCourse is this good, so I feel quite privileged to have had the chance to learn from Jill and spend a day in her company creating beautiful, pretty things. Definitely worth trying!"

Fired Glass responded:

"Thank you Marion for your glowing review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. We would love to see you again in the future if you decide to return. Kind regards John and Jill."
