I came and did the soap making course yesterday as a complete novice . After having fantastic training from Paula, left feeling confident to have a go at a new hobby/interest. Paula really knows her subject and delivers in a friendly, informative and professional way. The afternoon tea was a lovely touch at the end of the day. Thank you
I really enjoyed this soap making course. It was really lovely to spend a day doing something so relaxing. I would thoroughly recommend this course.

A huge thank you to Paula. Had a really lovely day making soaps. As a beginner, I was a bit worried about the technicalities of making soaps but Paula made it look so easy (theoretically and practically). It was such an informative and fun filled workshop. A must try - highly recommendable! Can’t wait for my next course.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Sherina, lovely to have you on the course, enjoy your soaps!. Paula
If I could leave a rating of 11 out of ten I would do so.
From the moment I walked in to the course I found Paula warm and engaging.
My biggest worries about making soap were the safety issues around handling lye and by the end of the course - not only had she allayed these fears but she has instilled such confidence that I am planning to make my first batch of soap this week at home.
I have to mention the attention to detail that was given to this course...it was really was thorough and most definitely value for money.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you! So very pleased to read your feedback. Paula
Thank you Paula for such a lovely day. Your passion and knowledge came across on the day.Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
So much so l've started to order equipment to start making soap for friends to start with, for their birthdays / Xmas pressys. Need to practice before thinking about selling in the future.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:So pleased to hear you are already getting your supplies for soap making, enjoy!. Paula
I did this course with Paula and it was amazing. I learnt so much that I felt confident enough to go home and start making my own soaps, which I gave done. Paula is an excellent teacher who is not only professional about her subject but very passionate about it as well. She is willing to share all her knowledge and is very helpful and enthusiastic in helping others to set up their own businesses too. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone and any age wishing to learn a new skill.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you, so pleased you enjoyed the course. Paula
Loved the course, learnt how to make my own soap and overcome the fears I had about doing it on my own. Paula is a great communicator and was very clear throughout. My only mention would be that it is focused on making soaps to sell so some of the course wasnt relevant for me, saying that I found it very informative and I will be making soap for myself from now on as the course has given me that confidence.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Kim. Thank you for your feedback. I’m pleased to hear that you found the selling module of the course interesting even though you won’t be selling your soaps. Paula
Five stars rating!
This is the best soap making class ever. I highly recommend this course for those who either want to use this as a kickstart to a viable business opportunity, or for those who simply want to create their own organic soap products, which are suitable for their own skin type.
Paula is such an amazing instructor. She is really passionate to share everything that she knows including her formulation and how to vary it, the use of the lye calculator, business tips, and many more. She told us that she could not cover everything, but to be honest, she had covered practically everything that we needed to know.
After the theoretical aspect (i.e. chemistry of soap making) and the practical session of making 8x bars of soap (approximately 100g each), Paula gave us some business tips and tricks over a sumptuous Afternoon Tea. Paula said that she took the longer route by self teaching herself when she was starting to make soaps few years ago. She is really keen to share and pass on her knowledge to help us to experiment safely and not to make the same mistakes that she had experienced before whilst learning how to make soaps initially.
Again, this is the best soap making class ever. The good news is that the course does not actually end on the day, as Paula reassured us that should we have any queries and concerns, she is just an email away.
Well done and keep up the good work! Happy soaping!
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Michael for your thorough review. Good luck!
I did the soap making workshop yesterday with Paula, she is really nice and explained very well the process of soap making. The workshop was divided in 3 parts: the first part was more theoretical we learnt about the different types of oil that we can use and mix, the importance of the percentage when creating the recipe.
The second part we started to formulate the soap with the artificial fragrance and essential oils etc.. and the last one was an afternoon tea and Q&A. I really enjoyed this experience that was new to me and made me want to learn more about this.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Marina for this great review.
Feeling excited after a fantastic day with Paula making beautiful soap (who I can’t recommend enough). Paula was patient, professional & truly inspiring. A lovely vegan lunch too. Watch this space in 2021, amazing things to come ❤️
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Nicola. I can't wait to see you succeed in your soap making business, go for it, you will do great!. Paula
This was a great course. Paula is a really great and enthusiastic teacher. Lots of information about how to mix your scents, colours and how to use other additives and guidance about when to use them and why.
good basic recipe given and good advice on what to by and where when making soap at home.
She covered everything a beginner would need and in a really engaging way.
And the sandwiches and home made scones were a real bonus!
Can't recommend this course highly enough.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Helen, I am so pleased you enjoyed the course. I hope you love experimenting and making your own soaps at home. Paula
Had a lovely few hours learning about making soap from Paula. Everything was explained very clearly with a set of notes you can take away, and it was great fun. Learned so much . A few people were going to take things further and sell their soaps (after getting the correct certification of course which was explained) and some were like myself, a complete beginner, just happy to know how to make some fab smelling soap for gifts and presents. Had a lovely cream tea to finish . Everyones soap looked good enough to eat and smelt gorgeous. Highly recommended for anyone .
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Christine, thank you for your review. I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the course, I hope you love making lovely soaps for you and your family. Paula
What a fantastic course! Cannot recommend this enough as an introduction to soap making. The course covers all the legislation and information if you wish to turn this into a small business. Paula is engaging, enthusiastic, and highly knowledgable. The location is super accessible from London if coming by train (the course location is five minutes walk from the mainline train station in Bexley - Oyster Zone 6, and only 21 minutes on the fast train from London Bridge), or if driving there is plenty of available parking. It was fantastic to see the various creations other participants made, and a lovely afternoon tea topped off the day. Paula very kindly caters for dietary requirements - the vegan scones were wonderful!
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Lynn for this great review, it is great to hear that coming from other parts of London was easy and it was worthwhile. All the best. Paula
I’m so happy I came across this course. It’s brilliant and I had such a lovely day. Paula knows her stuff and the amount of help and information she gave us was fantastic! Any questions we had were answered and I left with everything I wanted/ needed to know along with 8 little bars of my very own first batch of soap!! Thank you Paula for everything. I highly recommend!! :)

She has a wealth of knowledge that she openly shares with you, gives you plenty of hints and tips on how to be successful when making soap and setting yourself up as a business.
I happily played around with choosing the scents for my soap - which are currently providing my flat with a lovely air freshener. Very excited to use them, and to get started on making some of my own creations, as I feel very inspired. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
Oh! And sconces are seriously delicious too!
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Lesley, thank you so much for this lovely review. Enjoy your new skill, once you try your own handmade soaps you will not look back. Paula
I enjoyed myself so much, I’ve already recommended the course to friends & family. It's a lovely way to spend a day out with friends.

Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thanks Biola, I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the day so much and also that you felt safe on the day. xx Paula
I bought this workshop as a birthday present for my friend so we attended together. It was a lovely thing to do with a friend but I also would have been fine in my own as Paula was so welcoming and everyone there was friendly. The course was so well organised with a great balance of theory and practical. I have already bought some items to carry on this hobby at home. I learned so much and realise I knew nothing about soap before. A really great day for the complete beginner or someone hoping to take this on as a craft small business. Highly recommended.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Clare, so glad you both enjoyed the day, and what a nice birthday gift to give to your friend. Paula
I had an excellent time learning how to make soap with Paula. She has such a huge wealth of knowledge and experience, and is incredibly helpful.
The course was well organised, and filled with a huge amount of information all designed to build confidence for beginners. In just one day, I feel confident to get started making my own soaps at home, and maybe even thinking about selling them too. Everything you need to know, including detailed course notes to take away. I really enjoyed the day - much needed after months of lockdown and isolation! We were in a large hall and everything was set up safely so that the group could stay socially distanced. Thanks Paula for a lovely day!

I booked this course as a birthday treat for my mum, as she loves hand made soaps. The course far exceeded our expectations. Paula welcomed us into her beautiful home and gave us a very informative and practical introduction to soap making. We then moved onto the practical section of the course. This was great fun, and we particularly enjoyed choosing which oils to fragrance our soaps with.
We were then treated to a delicious afternoon tea, before leaving with our big box of fabulous soaps. Despite being a complete novice I now feel confident to have a go at making more soaps at home.
I would thoroughly recommend this course. Thank you Paula.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Laura. I very much enjoyed teaching your lovely family!
This is the most enjoyable craft course I have ever been. Paula was so attentive, knowledgeable and made us feel so welcome in her beautiful home. I was the most talkative of the bunch as I was on the course purposely to extend my range of 100% Natural Skin care products. Surprisingly she was very patient with me as I was asking her loads of question. We did overrun on the course, but Paula didn't mind and we had a wonderful afternoon together, swapping with each other our beautiful soap creation.
I will highly recommend this course both for practicality, knowledge and warm atmosphere and spending afternoon with our beautiful, knowledgeable host. Well done Paula (Although I was calling you Pauline throughout the day, but you didn't mind).

I'm looking forward to using the soaps we made once they finish curing.
I now feel confident enough to start making soaps myself at home and in the future would like to set up my own small business using the knowledge and information I got from Paula.
My friend and I will definitely be back for the candle making workshop.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Julie for your feedback. I wish you all the best in your soap business.
I was really looking forward to this course once I booked; it was even better than I could have dreamt. I had a wonderful day and learnt so much. This course stands out, as not only do you make soaps but Paula goes through the whole process from start to finish and more.
The course is held in Paula's beautiful house and she is a wonderful host and teacher; so enthusiastic and helpful. The lunch/afternoon tea provided was lovely and homemade (very impressed with the scones!).
Paula was very thorough with her teaching of the soap making process so if you want to carry on at home, you can do so safely. She went through the properties of all the oils that can be used and when/how you might want to adjust her recipe. She also covered legislation around product safety, using essential oils, registrations etc. So if you are wanting to sell your own soaps you have a great starting point.
Love, love, loved it!

I enjoyed taking Paula's soap making class in her lovely home. She went through all the essential information on how to make cold press soaps from home and including information on the legal compliance for selling your soaps. The class consisted of a small group, which allowed us to ask Paula any questions that we had. The fresh afternoon tea was amazing, tasty sandwiches and scones. I made 8 lovely soaps and since the class I've been twitching to do more. I would definitely recommend this course
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Vaneza, so glad you enjoyed it. Let me know how you are getting on. Paula
My husband and I attended the soap making workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it! Paula is lovely. She is friendly, approachable and extremely knowledgeable and it felt like a real privilege to learn as much as we did from her. On our arrival we were offered some refreshments and then sat around the table while Paula provided us with detailed notes and explained some of the theory, processes and science behind soap making. Then it was time to get stuck in and have a go at making our own soap, which was so much fun! While we waited for our finished soap to harden enough to be able to take home, we were treated to a wonderful afternoon tea and had the chance to ask Paula further questions. I would highly recommend Paula's soap making workshop!
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Kerry. I am so glad the course made your long journey worthwhile.
I loved, loved, loved the soap making workshop it was beyond my expectation!! I didn’t know what to expect from either workshop, but I was not disappointed. The direction and explanation I received from Paula showed me how to make a much smoother and creamier natural soap.
Paula is an extremely knowledgeable teacher about the research behind different natural soap products, ingredients, and processes. While the workshop was extremely informative, I didn't feel bombarded with new information and the tone was very relaxed.
Paula is also extremely kind, personable, and approachable, her class size is small which made the workshop an even better experience.
Overall, Paula's a knowledgeable soap maker who really understands the chemist and science of soap productive. It's worth it taking her workshop and I highly recommend her!! It's worth every penny and your time! She is open to any questions that we had. I look forward to taking more workshops soon! Anick, from Kent
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Anick, loved meeting you and I hope you keep me posted on your progress!
I had fun and learnt a lot!
Paula has structured the workshop perfectly. For a visual learner with a short attention span, this was very effective. I got to take home great smelling soaps I made myself too; can’t wait for them to cure so I can use it!
Paula also provides a lot of useful information. Great value for money and time well spent.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:HI Eneyo, thank you for much for your review, it is great to hear. Good luck in your soap making journey.

Paula was so welcoming on the 1-2-1 course that I did with her to learn Cold Process Soap making. I told her I wanted to make a full soap loaf prior to the course and she was most obliging. She was full of knowledge and enthusiasm and I learnt a lot from her and most importantly it was fun! I’ve done soap courses before and I have to say her course was one of the best that I have ever done and I made the most beautiful soap. She also treated me to yummy scones.
I would recommend this course to anyone, it’s brilliant!!
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Janki, thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure teaching you individually. Keep in touch.
Fantastic day and well worth the money. Paula was extremely helpful teaching me the calculation with the soap making, best suppliers, ingredients to use for particular requirements and expert tips!
All of these have saved me hours of research time on the internet. Overall, great day and would 100% recommend this to anyone who just fancies making soap for home use or anyone who would like to take it further.
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Thank you Kate. It was great meeting you, let me know how you are getting on.
The course was fantastic! Paula is lovely and made us feel so welcome in her beautiful home! She was also very well prepared for her lesson and safety conscious as we had to work with Lye to make the soap. The session started off with an explanation of the theory of soap making, Paula then explained very clearly how to use the soap calculator and then we started with the practical part of the course, which was to actually make the soap. During the session, Paula was supportive throughout and answered all our questions clearly and accurately. The lesson then ended with afternoon tea. We took our beautiful soaps home and a sample soap from Paula. It was not only a lovely day out but I learnt so much on making authentic soap and it has also boosted my confidence! Highly recommend this course :)
Response from Old Bexley Soap Co.:Hi Maria, thank you for the feedback. it is very appreciated!

I had a wonderful day learning how to make natural soap. I’m so proud of the soaps that I made, they look so pretty. Paula was a brilliant teacher providing lots of encouragement and advice. The afternoon tea was a lovely way to finish the morning. Thanks
Paula is an excellent teacher and host. I booked this course to go with a friend on her birthday and it didn’t disappoint.
Paula kindly picked us up from Bexley station as it was raining so much and drove us to her beautiful home.
We had such a fantastic morning learning and getting hands on making soap, there were so many essential oils to choose from.
After a busy morning we had a delicious afternoon tea and cakes.
Within a few days we received our soaps at home and they are now curing, I can’t wait for the 4 weeks of cure to use them!
We totally recommend this course, thank you Paula!
