Tracey Hardy reviewed: Introduction to Furniture Restoration at Craven Conservation

"I had a fabulous two days working with Bill learning the complex art of furniture restoration. Although there is clearly a vast amount to learn Bill paced the days well and my poorly chair (taken along with me to work on) came home mended and strong, and I have now acquired the skills to complete its restoration prior to upholstering it. Bill is very personable and his ethics unquestionable. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and plan to return on a regular basis to hone my new found skills. Very highly recommended"

Theresa reviewed: Introduction to traditional Calligraphy - foundational hand

"I absolutely loved the course you did on Saturday. I have been doing some low level calligraphy over the last 5 years or so and where I live there aren't any opportunities for developing my skills. I enjoyed learning a new script but what I loved the most about the workshop was experimenting with different colours, which I had not done before and learning about the different ways of continuing. I also enjoyed hearing about your projects and seeing the different approaches/layouts you tried out. That was fascinating."

Annabel T reviewed: Nuno felt a silk scarf in fine merino wools and silks with Judi Binks

"Nuno felting a scarf with Judi was a totally absorbing experience as she explained how the process worked and encouraged me to be bold in my design and layout of fibres. I have a chronic shoulder problem from a tennis injury so the rolling out process could have been an issue, but Judi showed me how to use a palm felting tool (made by her husband) and an electric sander! Really helped me. The result was a beautiful soft scarf ideal for spring or autumn. Loved the class. Thank you."

Jane Heritage reviewed: Table Loom Weaving Workshop - Dobby & Rose

"I booked this course as a total beginner, but by the time I arrived I had actually bought a rigid-heddle loom and started weaving. Rebecca teaches on shaft looms and it was intriguing to see the capabilities of these complex machines, and wonderful to have such a knowledgeable teacher to answer all my accumulated questions. Great fun and great learning. I went with a friend, which made things even more enjoyable!"

Sue H reviewed: Wet felting expressive landscapes in wools and silks

"This was my second course with Judi and I can't wait for the next one! This time it was landscapes and she arranged the session to suit me on my own at no extra charge. No matter what subject, she always explains patiently and clearly how to use different techniques and the time flies by. Very relaxed atmosphere and nice biscuits! Her studio is packed with wools and silks of all colours. I came away with a super picture I made in a few hours and I'm really happy. Thanks."

Richard Geeves reviewed: Spoon carving for beginners - morning

"Most excellent afternoon with Stephen the yoda of spoon carving! Zen workshop to understand and learn the basics of carving wood and the basics of carving safety to go with it. Whole array of tools and techniques shown that 1 day later I’ve already forgotten but great to learn and I walked away with the basics of a spoon!!"

Sue reviewed: Beginners spoon carving taster session

"A great introduction to spoon carving from our excellent tutor, Steve Ridd. In just two hours our small group was shown tools, examples and cutting techniques, told about different wood and processes and given demonstrations at each stage which enabled us to craft our first item. A respectable first attempt has given rise to an enthusiastic new spoon maker."

"We had a wonderful few hours. Jacky was great, she helped us all the way. It was a positive experience, good fun and relaxing. It was great learning the different techniques and getting used to the feel of the clay. We were so pleased that we actually did make some dishes, and we didn't have many disasters with our heavy hands. Can't wait to learn more and we will certainly book in for more sessions. Great experience."

Margaret Jones reviewed: Handmade canes, beads and jewellery from Polymer clay in Bedfordshire.

"I had a wonderful day with Bernie learning new techniques with polymer. She has a wealth of experience and is very happy to share those essential tips and techniques which take your work from passable to magnificient! Although Bernie had planned our session from our early discussions, she was also happy to follow up a particular interests as I have been working with clay for a while now - we covered mica shift and how to use an extruder properly (I am never making bullseye cane any other way!), natasha canes and finishing techniques - and all with a sense of fun and exploration together. Lunch was delicious homemade soup and bread - I can't recommend a day with Bernie more highly - thank you for a real treat of a day!"

Treasunique responded:

"What a delightful and creative day we had Maggie, and thank you so much for your review, so very kind. So glad your hubby picked up on something you wanted to do! It was fun sharing those things with you, as you have great aptitude for polymer clay. I am looking forward to seeing your future projects and do send me some photos please :) Just playing around with different designs and coming up with something brand new was a surprise too!! LOL I hope you will remember everything, as you know you just have to ask!! Thanks again and God bless Bernadette"

Tamsin Preece reviewed: Fabulous fused glass jewellery for beginners

"I attended the beginners glass jewellery course in January and it was fantastic. Eleanor was a patient and informative teacher who took the time to ensure everyone in the group was secure in each technique before moving on. We had ample time to create our own pieces and while we were given free reign, Eleanor was on hand to offer advice and assistance. I’m so proud of my finished pieces and I can’t recommend this course highly enough. If you are considering booking, do it. You will not regret it, and you’ll have a load of beautiful glass jewellery as well!"

Eleanor Designs responded:

"Hello Tamsin, Thank you so much for your lovely review - it was great to have you on my course at Rainbow Glass Studios and to see your own fused glass jewellery ideas take shape so beautifully! I have to congratulate you on your newly learned glass cutting skills and the great care you took in the design and making of your pieces - really well done! I hope to see you again at a future course! Best wishes - wear your new jewellery with pride! Eleanor"

Keith Lofthouse reviewed: Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops

"A fabulous three day course with expert tuition and wonderful hospitality. Lucy's teaching is perfect - providing guidance whilst allowing each student's own ideas to develop and flow plus she is an excellent host providing regular tea and cake and delicious lunches combined with interesting conversation! I had no prior knowledge or experience of stone carving, but with Lucy's guidance I was able to produce a carving of which I am very proud! I would recommend this course without hesitation."
