Wendy Charles-Davenport reviewed: Introduction to candle-making as a business

"I decided to go on this course as it’s fairly local and I’m so glad I did. The course is so informative and Jo made the course fun and inspiring. You just want to get out there and get started on candlemaking. A delicious lunch was included and I went away at the end with my first wax creations. Totally enjoyable day and would definitely recommend."

Anne H reviewed: Gelli Plate Printing Workshop by Clare Cosens

"I attended the course with my daughter. Clare made us feel very welcome and relaxed immediately. She was a very enthusiastic and helpful teacher who made the process very easy and straightforward to follow, as well as explaining the potential variations and ways of developing the technique. We were hands on with tools and equipment quickly and came away with some really lovely prints. We also came out Fired up to try out gelli printing at home - we’ve bought the recommended equipment and have set it up to have a go next weekend - my daughter is enthused to produce and sell her own prints locally as notecards and postcards. Thankyou Clare for a fab morning ( and a happy, creative teen)"

Clare Cosens Designs responded:

"I’m so pleased you both enjoyed the Gelli Plate printing workshop. Have a great weekend printing - I would love to see your results. Happy printing! Clare"

layla reviewed: Spoon Carving with Touchwood Glasgow

"Robert was approachable and knowledgeable throughout the day, but most importantly the care and passion he feels about his work, really comes across in his teaching. In answering all questions and showing us how to handle the tools and wood, Robert is positive and patient with curious carvers. The belief he has in students, helped to build confidence and keep our spoons (and fingers) in sight. Robert is very talented and generous in sharing his skills, hope to see more wood carving courses being led by him in the future. The follow-up materials are very helpful and the handmade bibs were so lovely too!"

Matt reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"A wonderful way to spend a weekend! Starting with a tree and taking home a table was extremely satisfying; taught and led brilliantly by Peter and Toby. If you are relatively handy like me this is an excellent course to learn about how to read and use wood thoughtfully. It left me inspired to build my own furniture for gifts and my own house."

Laurie Danforth reviewed: Hazel Dormouse - beginners coloured pencil drawing with Linda Hampson

"I spent considerable time researching potential teachers of colored pencil. Linda Hampson stood out as not only a wonderfully talented artist, but also an excellent teacher. I really enjoy Linda's explanations of why she does this or that and her repetition of critical aspects of drawing. Her approach is thoughtful, carefully filmed and fun! I would highly recommend any tutorial or workshop of Linda Hampson. It's fun to learn facts about her topics as well which are always included between drawing steps."

The Old Kennels responded:

"Oh Laurie, thank you so much for such a lovely review! In 'usual' times when we saw our customers 'in person' we knew they enjoyed our courses as they could just tell us. But with so much 'online' now we its harder for us to know we are getting things right, so when people take the time to write constrictive reviews we are just so grateful, it gives us great satisfaction in our work! Do hope you will enjoy this years new offerings, and please share your results with us by email or on our social media we love to see what you have been up to ! :)"

Alie reviewed: Beaded Jewellery Making

"This is the second course I have done with Teresa, and this one was just as brilliant as the first - which was enamelling. I got a lot out of the course, Teresa is full of knowledge and was super helpful and patient. I feel I have definitely learnt new skills that I can take away and use. All materials were provided and once I’ve had a bit more practice, I’m going to have a fabulous piece of jewellery to wear. Would definitely recommend a course with Teresa, she is a fab teacher and the studio space is an ideal place to learn new skills. I look forward to more courses here! Thanks so much!!"

Margaret Harvey reviewed: 5 week beginners crochet course with ready, steady, HOOK! (daytime)

"Lynn is always very well-prepared, with work planned for each session to enable progression. Each session has handouts that are easy to understand and to refer to at a later date. She has immense patience and explains new skills clearly. She supplies new students with a starter kit which is usable long after the course has been completed. During the five weeks of the course I learnt a lot and came away with immense enthusiasm for continuing with crochet. Thank-you, Lynn, for starting me on a new hobby."

Ready, Steady, HOOK! responded:

"Thank you so much Margaret, it was an absolute pleasure to have taught you, and I am so glad you are so enthusiastic about continuing!"

JVP-W. reviewed: Fused Glass workshops at Bere Alston, near Tavistock, Devon

"Last Saturday I attended a whole day Glass Fusion Workshop lead by Wendy Bradberry at Glory of Glass. What a fabulous day! First the setting: a cosy, light studio overlooking the beautiful River Tamar. We were a small group of novices and we soon settled and gelled over cups of tea and coffee and enjoyed a morning of learning how to cut glass. Wendy competently instructed us in various techniques, showed us samples of previous work and then led us in creating our pieces of glass. We wait to receive our glasswork after it’s been through the kiln. It was a totally enjoyable day in good company. I’d highly recommend the workshop."

Cherry D reviewed: Paper marbling with tea & cake

"A well laid out studio environment with work stations set up with what we would be using. Dina gave us some historical details about marbling and then proceeded to give some demonstrations on how to do it after which it was time to have a go. Help was at hand throughout the workshop and you were free to work at your own pace. Aprons, gloves, wet wipes and paper towels in plentiful supply. Tea and coffee in various types were available along with cakes and biscuits. A thoroughly great way to spend four hours. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I will certainly return in due course to try another workshop."

Angela King reviewed: Creative Fused Glass for beginners and improvers

"Excellent teaching, although a lot to take in during one session - which of course, is encouraging to go back again to put it all into practice. Equipped really well, with lots of good examples to follow, and help when needed - which was quite often for a beginner (well certainly in my case), and fortunately Nadine is a very patient teacher."

"My day with David exceeded all expectations. David is an excellent teacher and host. He explained everything clearly and was so encouraging I made two rings - both with stones. Lees experience and understanding of technique and colour means he is able to assist everyone with their projects throughout the day so you get the most out of it and you develop your prints layer by layer."

Helen Lee reviewed: Basket making for beginners using traditional willow basketry techniques

"The course took place in a large room and all eight of us had a large table at which to work. Jon and Becky were brilliant at teaching each step and making sure we were confident before moving on to help the next person. The day was paced very well so that the work fitted the time given and I think we all took away a beautiful basket at the end of the day. Complementary tea, coffee and home made flapjack were on offer all day and a delicious lunch which cost just £7 could be pre-ordered."

Basket Making Malvern responded:

"Thankyou Helen It was lovely to meet you and it would be great if you would like to make another basket. Jonny Xx"

Omer Elhassan reviewed: Perfume Making in Norfolk

"This was a gift for my wife's birthday. It did not disappoint. Dianne was so kind and attentive, she walked us through the theory of perfumery over a brew in her lovely farm house. We then moved onto the practical mixing and testing of smells, hundreds of combinations to make. All the while guided by Dianne and at our own pace."

Aroma Natural responded:

"Thank you Omer for taking the time to write this review, I really appreciate it. It was so lovely to meet you and your wife and spend the day designing and making perfume and to smell your finished creation - it was amazing."
