Cris H reviewed: Experimental Printmaking inspired by Mid Century Design in Derbyshire

"Yesterday I was part of a Printing Workshop. What a wonderful day, it all passed far too quickly. Lots to learn, lots to do. Chance to experiment too. I'm inspired to continue with this new found skill, and have already ordered some basic equipment so that I can get going. Liz is a wonderful host, and she provided excellent tuition, also giving support and ideas. We felt Covid safe, and we were very comfortable."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

Alison reviewed: Basket making for beginners using traditional willow basketry techniques

"My friend wanted to try basket making so we bought her a voucher for her birthday. I then thought that I may as well tag along. What a great day we had. Jon and Becky were great hosts; fantastic at explaining what to do and then equally good at coming around inspecting what we had tried to do and then correcting it at the same time as complimenting our work. They chatted to us all as we worked and seemed genuinely interested in the stories that everyone told. There was 8 of us in the group which was a good number for Jon and Becky to support without us having to wait too long for help. And we came away with a good size basket too; that looks great Lunch was lovely also. I’d definitely recommend this course."

Basket Making Malvern responded:

"That is fantastic. It was brilliant to spend the day with such a lovely group"

"I went to this workshop with my boyfriend who had bought it as a Christmas present and we had the best time!! When we arrived, the studio instantly felt like a fun, warm and homely space. There were cosy jumpers laid out for us to borrow, hot drinks ready to go and homemade treats (10/10 for the brownies!!). Jolene is such a warm, lovely, patient teacher and really helps you to bring your ideas to life. The workshop was ran at a really comfortable pace but we learnt so much in the time we were there. Colin Holt reviewed: Pyrography workshop

"I attended Rob's workshop this morning. I received a friendly welcome and then instruction on the principles of pyrography, how it works, the types of wood that can be used and those that should be avoided and the types of burning tools available and their use. After instructions on using the burner and some practice I set to and completed my project. This was my first time trying pyrography and I was very pleased with whole experience, friendly relaxed chat while working, interest in what I was doing and encouragement and advise. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole morning."

Mike Rea reviewed: Make a chef's knife

"Such a great experience! I turned up full of anxiety - not done anything useful with my hands for years, so thought it unlikely I’d even end up with a knife-shaped object. But from the off, Spencer and Paul made us feel at home - stepwise instruction, personally and passionately delivered. And the knife I ended up with is one I’d have paid a lot of money for ? So pleased my wife found this for me"

Anvil Forge responded:

"Hi Mike I am so pleased that you overcame the nerves and carried on to make such a great chef knife that has pride of place at your home. The enjoyment of working from a basic piece of carbon steel to the end result of a working knife that will last many years is really fullfilling. I will pass on your comments to the guys as well as they enjoy the feedback as well. best wishes John"
