The aim is to provide a relaxed, friendly, supportive, experimental and fun experience where you will learn a new (or revive a previous) skill and take home something you feel proud enough to frame! You will have the opportunity to create your own, individual, linocut artwork. As well as being part of a group you will also receive lots of one to one tuition to help you achieve the best outcome.
Group size: 2 – 4 people. You can book as a group or as an individual.
• Start 09.45 for 10.00am start
• 13.00 Lunch
• 16.00 Finish
We will start by preparing an image ready to be transferred onto lino, then you will cut your lino design. Please bring your own imagery if you have something specific in mind or select from a range starting points which will be available. You will have an opportunity to prepare and experiment with a range of surfaces and coloured papers to print your lino design onto. We usually prepare and cut in the morning and then spend the afternoon printing. The aim is that you will take home new skills you can continue at home with the minimum of equipment.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
What you need to bring:
- Please bring a packed lunch.
- If you have a particular theme or image you would like to work from please bring it along – your own drawings, photographs or magazine cuttings are all good source materials – but don’t worry if you haven’t got anything – there will be imagery to choose from.
- Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy and/or an apron.
What we will provide:
- The workshop will take place in a light filled, open space, facing out onto a garden. There will be the opportunity to work outside if weather permits.
- All materials and equipment will be provided.
- There will be coffee/tea and biscuits available in the morning, and afternoon tea and cake. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements.

I had not done any Lino printing since secondary school and so was really excited to learn about it again and have a go. Judith made the whole process so enjoyable; she guided me through each step of the process and was so friendly and kind. The art/craft space was also incredibly beautiful and well organized. The whole experience was fun, engaging and rather therapeutic! I now have some beautiful prints to display (and book recommendations to read!). I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to give Lino printing a go! Thank you so much Judith!
I did the course with a friend. I had not done lino cutting before. Judith made us feel comfortable and confident with our chosen design ideas. She helped when needed but let us experiment and offered help as required. We were both very pleased with our prints and will continue to make more at home.
Response from print paper stitch experiences:Thank you for your review Jan. I really enjoyed meeting and working with you and Kate and I look forward to seeing if you find a way to incorporate lino prints into your digital art practice.
Judith was very welcoming and is an excellent teacher. A very enjoyable and instructive experience in her well appointed studio.
It was third time lucky for me, but well worth the wait.
Everything throughout the day was thought out and planned to suit everyone on the course. Judith was very encouraging and helpful at each step of the way. The workspace was light and airy with Covid precautions adhered to. I came away having learnt a lot and achieved more than expectations. I took home plenty of prints and enthusiasm to do more.
Judith was a brilliant host, plenty of drinks and biscuits throughout the day and cake before leaving.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone, no previous experience needed. You'll come away with plenty of prints to be proud of.
Response from print paper stitch experiences:Thank you very much Maggie, that's a lovely review.
This was a birthday treat and what a lovely way to spend a wet Saturday getting so creative and managing to produce a good selection of coloured prints.
Judith was everything you would wish for as she was an excellent teacher and encouraging us all the way through the process, in her kind and friendly manner.
Like me, don't worry if you cannot draw as you will leave with something handmade and unique to you.
The studio had a lovely atmosphere and all covid regulations were adhered to.
Response from print paper stitch experiences:Dear Sue and Sally,
Despite having to wait a year or so to actually attend the course (Covid not Judith!!) I am so glad I finally made it. Judith was extremely well organised and considerate of the regulations and how we interacted during the day. The course content was great - Judith challenged each of us to do the maximum we could in a day. Everyone left with a massive selection of prints - me included. Judith encouraged me to do more than I thought I was capable of and I have come away eager to try it again. If you have even a tiny thought that you want to give it a go I encourage you book up and experience a day where you can expand your own known universe.... Judith was a patient and supportive teacher and nothing is too much trouble and to cap it all there was endless tea and biscuits and a final reward of cake....
Response from print paper stitch experiences:Hi Jane
I bought this as a gift for my mum and neither of us had done lino printing before. Judith was very welcoming and the workshop was nice and relaxed. We had plenty of space and attention, with just the right level of input, technical and creative. We came away with piles of prints which we were both really pleased with and I have already purchased my own tools following Judith's recommendations.
Response from print paper stitch experiences:Many thanks for your review Hayley, it's very much appreciated.
My wife and I spent a week day with Judith in early October, and the fact that there were just the three of us worked really well in terms of social distancing and the like. We really enjoyed the day and were very pleased with the results, the best of which will shortly be going up on our walls! Copious quantities of Earl Grey tea and biscuits also went down very well!
Nicola, Sarah and I thoroughly enjoyed our lino print day. Judith was very friendly and really helpful throughout the day. Everything was set out in line with Covid regulations and so we felt comfortable.
We all came home with prints we were really happy with. Looking forward to doing another course next year with Judith.
My friend and I had an amazing day on Judith's Introduction to Linocut Printing course as a birthday present to each other. We were welcomed into Judith's beautiful home and given tea, biscuits, cake and careful instruction on how to bring our ideas to life. Judith has loads of equipment and reference books and a wonderful, light space to work in. Most of all she's a kind and patient teacher and shared her time among the group well. The point at which you lift the paper to reveal your first print is like magic - we were all super pleased with our work. It was easy to book and the instructions for joining the course were clear. Judith even advised us on good places to walk and eat in Ely to complete our exciting day!! I travelled from Kent to join the course and would happily do so again.
We had a wonderful day with Judith. From the really warm welcome and beautiful space to the patient instruction and encouragement. The atmosphere was really relaxed and enabling, and the biscuits plentiful. I was amazed at what I was able to achieve in a day and was very inspired by the work of all my fellow course attendees too. No hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Judith's courses: such soul food!
Response from print paper stitch experiences:Thanks Nell - it was a pleasure to work with you and help you create your beautiful prints!
I had a great day with Judith. I learnt a lot in a comfortable and well equipped environment and was amazed at how much work I produced. Judith's teaching is paced and structured very well with easy to follow instructions and explanations. Highly recommended.
My daughter (aged 13) and I had an inspiring day with Judith. She shared her knowledge and experience with us and supported us throughout the printing process. There was plentiful supply of tea, cookies and delicious flapjack too! We have continued to create our own pieces at home - thank you, Judith. I would highly recommend this course.
My sister, Mum and myself took this course a few weeks ago. We were all beginners and we we absolutely loved the course. From the moment we arrived we felt at home, with the added bonus of lots of coffee and cake!
Judith put us at ease straight away and we were down to business in no time. We all managed to create some great lino prints with the help of Judith, and the relaxed atmosphere made it such an enjoyable day.
We would all highly recommend.
This was my first attempt at Lino Printing and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Judith was a great teacher, providing support, instruction and a lot of inspiration for future projects. I was really happy with what I managed to produce during the session and went home confident to do more at home.
Judith was welcoming and gave first class instruction and support. The equipment and materials provided were great. I thoroughly recommend this workshop.
