This type of printing is unique in that it is a form of photography that does not require a camera or an expensive darkroom. I will provide gloves and aprons but it's best not to wear your favourite clothes just in case you get chemicals on them. You are welcome to bring your own materials (stencils, negatives, flowers etc) and play around with the prints. I will provide all other materials, including a hair dryer..... all will be revealed! This is a silk scarf that would be a talking point when you wear it; slightly quirky with a touch of humour and at the same time soft and elegant. I have used original illustrations of vintage flying machines as stencils, then hand-printed it, using the 'Blueprint' photographic process (Cyanotype). Cyanotype is a fast and responsive form of printmaking; crossing over in to photography. You will be combining the atmospheric black and white of monotype with the gorgeous blues of cyanotype to create three colour prints. For this course you will harness the power of the sun to create cyanotype prints; making negatives with drawings, photography and found materials.
