Photography days with Sue and Malcolm - A chance to try something new! Weather permitting we like to include an outdoor session. We can also show how you can set up a simple studio using household items! We’ll talk about composition and lighting. Things you learn in this session may be helpful if you need to photograph products for eBay or your own website. This will be followed by help in editing these shots. Throughout your day with us we will be aiming to make this course fun and relevant to your needs and you will also be given Course Notes; a useful reminder of the things you have been doing with your camera in manual modes. Before the course date comes around we’ll be finding out what equipment you will be able to bring and aiming to provide things you may not already have for the day. We’ll want to know about the sort of photographs you have been taking and find out what sort you would like to take. The day in brief: On arrival, you can sit down with a cuppa, show us your camera and we can discuss its features. You will have Course Notes to refer to and we’ll talk a little bit about the theory of getting that special shot, pointing out the relevant settings on your particular camera (or one we may have lent you). We will cover ISO, shutter speed, depth of field and focal length - all will be explained! The use and value of a tripod will come into this session, but don’t worry if you don’t have one of your own yet. The location we choose will enable practice with camera settings, tripod, choosing the viewpoint, and composing the shot. The taking of panoramic views can be achieved as can the study of a flowing stream to achieve those silky, smooth water shots. Back at base, you will be eager to download the morning shots to the laptop. We’ll help you choose your best shot and give you advice on how to make the most of it through computer editing. We can provide further days to cover other aspects of photography and editing that interest you.
