Description
In this photopolymer gravure workshop, you will learn how to turn any image of your choice – whether a drawing, painting, or photograph – into a unique intaglio plate to create a small edition of original prints. This activity is a wonderful way to explore a modern and safe printmaking technique. I will teach you how to work with photopolymer plates, also known as solar plates. In the workshop, we will first create a digital positive of your image, then I'll show you how to etch it onto the plate using UV light and water. It's a fascinating process that combines digital precision with hands-on crafting. Once your plate is ready, I will guide you through the steps of inking it and using a large etching press to print your work. You'll have the chance to pull several copies, creating a small edition of your own prints to take home with you. You'll leave the studio with a set of beautiful, professional-looking prints from your own image, having gained a newfound appreciation for the art of printmaking. This is a wonderfully rewarding experience that turns your pictures into timeless art.
