Maria McPherson reviewed: Create with a gel printing plate in Derbyshire

"Thoroughly enjoyed the course! Great teaching style, friendly welcoming atmosphere, beautiful studio and a small number of course goers to make the day personal yet collaborative. I would highly recommend this course for both beginners and people with some experience of gelli plate printing!"

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Maria, Lovely to meet and work with you today and thank you for telling me about your time at The Slipper Studio. Your previous experience of using a gel plate helped you to create some beautiful pieces, with a strong use of colour, pattern and marks. I think you’ll enjoy creating gel plate prints on fabric, with lots of potential for hand stitching and experimentation. Happy printing. Best wishes Liz Wellby "

paul kearney reviewed: Woodturning for beginners

"A very big thank you to Stuart for two wonderful days spent in his workshop. Once we discussed what I wanted to get out of the course ,Stuart then tailored the course to my needs and experience. Workshop health and safety , choice of wood and explanation of how the grain influences project style and form. We set a rough piece and of wood and took it to the end product by end of day 1, by end of day 2 I had another two lovely pieces turned and finished. Cant wait to start putting all these new skills into practice in my own workshop. A great tutor and would highly recommend his course. Thanks!"

The Scottish Woodturner responded:

"We had a pretty full on two days so I'm glad you have emerged with your enthusiasm intact and eager to get going. Look forward to seeing you again. Thanks."

Ian reviewed: Half Day Intensive Glass Blowing Course

"By a wide margin this is the best value for money you will ever get out of a craft taster session. I've got two gorgeous pieces of glass work. The tutors are first rate letting the students go fully hands on with molten glass whilst keeping a guiding hand ready to stop mistakes. Well worth the price and I'm keen to do it again "

Michael Halloran reviewed: Come Frame With Me - Making your own Picture Frame

"I had a very enjoyable day at Studio 93 making my first picture frame. Working side-by-side with Ady as he made his own frame, and thanks to his careful instruction and demonstrations, I was able to make a frame that looks and feels very professional. I've come away confident that I can now make more frames on my own, once I've got some of the specialist tools needed. The day was very relaxed and well-paced with time to discuss many aspects of picture framing beyond the immediate task. The studio was very well set up and it was very helpful to be able to look at and discuss examples of Ady's own exemplary work during the day.  Thoroughly recommended. "

Studio 93 Framing responded:

"Thank you Michael, it was a pleasure to have you over for the day. All the very best for your future framing and do let me know when you are up and running! "

Ben Hansen reviewed: Blacksmithing, bladesmithing and metal craft

"I was bought the Blacksmithing experience as a Christmas gift. Nigel was very knowledgeable and made it a lot of fun to learn from him. The experience day was filled with a great deal of different techniques that we were able to put into practice and we were able to keep the pieces we had crafted to take home. The site itself was full of things to see and Nigel was happy to show us around the site and show us a huge variety of the things that he had made. Would definitely recommend and hope to go again."

Fransham Forge responded:

Ferne Rook reviewed: Tool Sharpening and Maintenance- 1 Day Course in South Devon

"As a beginner to sharpening tools, this was a great day, but I think it is also suitable for more experienced people as there was a wide range of skill levels on the course and all were catered to. Definitely worth bringing lots of your own tools as you leave with lots of new skills but also all your tools sharp. I really appreciated being shown the manual and machine way of sharpening so you know all the options and can choose how you want to do it yourself. It's a beautiful setting where the course is run and coffee and cake was a lovely addition. "

Peter Lanyon Furniture responded:

"Thanks Ferne, lovely to see you again. Glad you got a lot out of the course."

Leanne O'Neill reviewed: Upholstery full day class - strip, pad and cover a dining chair

"As a lover of all things arts and crafts, I was very excited to find a woodwork company that offered day classes, rather than courses, relatively locally. The course I attended was run by David, who seems to be a master in pretty much everything and an all-round fascinating man. Nearly eight hours in the workshop flew by and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. What a workshop!!! There are many courses covering a wide variety of topics from plumbing to making a deck chair; I attended the full day upholstery class. In addition to coming home with a wonderfully revamped kitchen chair, I learnt so much from David, just chatting to him about woodwork and tools. The Great British Woodshop really is great. Fantastic in fact. I highly recommend them and in actual fact have booked on my next project!"

"Brilliant course! Gill is a fantastic teacher - very helpful and knowledgeable, and a lovely person. I came away with two gorgeous pieces of stained glass which I'm very happy with, and also the confidence to carry on doing the craft at home.
