Kiln fired enamelling on copper taster - morning workshop

Enamelled pendant decorated with millifiore
X

Description

This is a fun introduction to working with enamels on copper. You will learn how to prepare your copper blanks, apply your enamel, apply decoration and fire in the kiln.

You will build up your piece in stages with a firing in the kiln in between each stage. Your design will build up as you go and you will have a range of materials and techniques to play with. If you have worked with glass fusing you will love the speed with which you build up your design using many of the same techniques that you are already familiar with. If you are new to any kind of kiln work, you will love the excitement and magic of putting something into a kiln and bringing out a fabulous piece of your own work.

You will choose from a selection of copper blanks and then make pendants, earrings, key fobs and more.

Suitable for beginners.

Completed the taster session with my daughter and really enjoyed it. Genevieve is very relaxed and informative and the 3 hours passed so quickly. Really nice to have completed work to take home immediately and some peaceful, positive creativity in today's situation. Recommended.

Response from Wicked Gen Crafts:

Thank you for such a lovely review. It was lovely to share with you both the fun and excitement of working with a hot kiln to produce lovely original enamelled work.

Gen is a lovely, relaxed tutor who not only teaches clearly but lets you experiment and try out ideas. Well structured and paced class which results in you having pieces to take home. Recommended.

I did the enamelling taster course and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I hadn't done any work with copper before and Gen was a great teacher, providing us with an array of different materials to work with. We each left with 3 pieces to take home and I would love to do it again.

Response from Wicked Gen Crafts:

I am really pleased you had a good afternoon. It is always fun teaching an enamelling course as the process is so immediate and it is exciting working with a hot kiln.

I had already enjoyed the introduction to glass fusing with Gen and this course was similarly great. Biggest difference is that we used the kilns as we went along so could see how the materials are transformed by heat. Gen is the perfect teacher. Everything organised and well-structured with clear guidelines. Her enthusiasm is brilliant and her gentle reminders and encouragement ensure that everyone makes something to be proud of.

I wanted to try a new craft so signed up to this taster in enamelling. It was great fun, Gen is lovely and patient, and her enthusiasm for the craft rubs off on her learners. I enjoyed the session so much I have booked on one of the pay as you go enamelling sessions in a few weeks time to have another go, which I'm really looking forward to.
