Helen reviewed: Create a pebble mosaic garden feature with award winning artist David James in Ilkley

"I learnt so much on this course and now have the confidence to make more mosaics of my own. The process is magical. I brought some of my own stones that the kids had collected to add a personal touch. You don’t need to be artistic. The steps are kept simple and help is always to hand. Very relaxing and therapeutic- carefully placing each stone. And the end result brilliant. I would thoroughly recommend anyone giving it a go. "

Lindsay Donoghue reviewed: From the garden- still life with a mixed media approach

"This was a wonderful experience. Alison was welcoming, knowledgeable, interesting and a great teacher. She was also incredibly patient when I had a bit of a wobble. The course is suitable for all levels. I am a complete beginner and not only produced something worthy of hanging on the fridge but also had great fun. The Stables is a beautiful place to make art and the flapjacks were delicious. Thank you! "

Jo reviewed: Create with a gel printing plate in Derbyshire

"We had a fantastic day. Learned some great new skills and techniques that I am keen to continue to work with at home. Liz was the perfect tutor and host. She demonstrated the methodology in bite-sized chunks that were easy to assimilate and was always on hand with advice and helpful tips. I would very much like to extend my gelliprinting and also learn other skills with Liz. And, of course, it was lovely to take a whole day to just create! Thanks Liz :-)"

Michelle reviewed: Beginners half-day pairs pottery / ceramics workshop

"This is a great workshop for anybody who wants to try out pottery. Louise was very welcoming and after a cup of coffee we felt very relaxed and ready to go. We started getting used to the clay by making pinch pots and then Louise patiently guided us through the process of making vases using the slab method. Louise had a variety of materials and suggestion which we used to create different decorative effects. We had great fun trying these out and adding our own ideas. And then we tried the wheel. We knew that throwing clay is a difficult art to master but wanted to give it a go. Louise gave us very good instructions, so we managed to see a lump of clay taking on some shape. I admit that my daughter was more successful than me, but it was great to try it. It was a great experience and we enjoyed it a lot. Louise is such a great and supportive teacher. I am sure we will be back. "

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review Michelle :-). It was a delight having you and your daughter in the pottery studio - I've shown several students the rabbit vase; such a lovely piece! You both managed the wheel really well, despite your trepidation ;-) and it would be a pleasure to have you both back in the studios in the future. "

Julie and Phil reviewed: Learn to turn in Snowdonia, North Wales - Full day for 2 students

"I booked this course as a present for my fiance as something we could do together. There was great communication in the lead up to it, and Les was great at making suggestions as to what we could make on the day. We settled on making scorched bowls from some beautiful pieces of wood. We both had a fantastic day, and Les was so insightful. He took time to explain everything in just the right amount of detail, and we came away with two beautiful bowls. We both had a fantastic experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a course with Les, whether you were looking to take woodturning up seriously or just want an interesting experience for the day. Thanks Les!"

Pren responded:

"I remember the day well and especially your enthusiasm for the craft. The day flew by, just as all time does when it is being enjoyed. Thank you so much for the review; I'm really pleased that enjoyed your day."

Penny reviewed: Mastering Pen Making.

"Excellent day, great and patient tuition, convivial atmosphere, delighted with the result. There is a lovely little cafe as part of the same craft village. The course takes place in a converted stable and a full apron is provided but nonetheless I would suggest reasonably warm and comfortable clothes that you’re not too precious about. Tea and coffee are provided. Two people were taught on the day I was there and I would suggest many more at once would make it a bit crowded around the lathes. These are just little tips but my overriding rating is absolutely 5/5. I would do it again and will doubtless go back for additional courses. "

Assynt Pens responded:

"Thank you for your kind words Penny. Glad you and Kay enjoyed the experience. Hope to see you again! Derek"

Anthony Yaskin reviewed: One day stained glass classes by Le Breton Traditional

"Fantastic course! Everything covered in a clear manner from safety to various ways of cutting glass, lead and copper foil assembly, painting glass and detail work. Great facility with Matt only a few steps away from any student so he could watch and help any student easily. Because of the workshop layout and the range of tools at every station, students could easily get on with their projects and everyone took a completed project of their own choice and making home! "

JRE reviewed: One day stained glass classes by Le Breton Traditional

Alex Walton reviewed: Leather Traveller's Bag

"I had a lovely day making my traveller's bag, and I'm thrilled to bits with it! Cathy is a great tutor. She gave very clear instructions and demonstrations, then let me get hands on very quickly, to maximise the time available. And she coped admirably with my ineptitude when I got my thread in a knot or my rivets in the wrong place! I'd highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to have a crack at leather work. "
