Learn the techniques that I have developed and use in making my still life textile work.
Make your own patterns from favourite objects that you bring along (or from objects in my collection), working with painted and printed fabrics, layered and stitched in place to create vibrant and intricate arrangements.
As in my landscape courses, no specific sewing skills or sophisticated machines are necessary but please bring a machine, scissors, fabrics that particularly inspire you(I will also have a good supply of fabric available) and, of course, items that you would like to work from and include in your still life.
The workshops take place in my North Dorset studio (ground floor)with a maximum of four participants/ course.
We will pause for lunch from 12.30 -1pm and light meals such as salads, soup or sandwiches can be obtained from the 17th century deli/ pub which is a few metres away from my studio.
Covid precautions will be put in place- spacing work tables, open windows, anti bacterial gels/ sprays etc.If it is warm, I have a roofed outside space which I use for workshops.
I am a practising artist and a qualified and experienced teacher of art and can run workshops for specific textile or art groups. Please contact me for details of individual groups.

Excellent and interesting class, very good individual attention. Thank you very much.
Response from Imogen Bittner Studio:Very interesting and unique work- good luck with your future ideas, I think they would work very well in this medium.
Imogen is an enthusiastic and patient tutor - with her guidance I made a fabric collage 'still life' and I'm really pleased with it! The whole day was so relaxed and enjoyable that I felt as if I'd had a little holiday. The lunch that Imogen provided was excellent - so was the venue. I would highly recommend this workshop.
Response from Imogen Bittner Studio:Lynn's image was impressive. Using vibrant fabrics and strong design, she created an amazingly unique and interesting image that glowed and attracted from across the room. An incredible first!
I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop which was like a breath of fresh air. It was relaxed and fun but also informative and taught me a lot about using different fabrics to create a picture using only scissors and a sewing machine. It was very satisfying to leave with a piece of work that was almost complete and I now feel much more confident in experimenting further at home. Imogen is a very supportive teacher and guided me through the process, offering suggestions when needed. We also had a delicious lunch! If you like playing around with fabrics you will enjoy this. I will definitely be making a return visit.
Imogen is so very patient, supportive and creative on our recent workshop. What an amazing artist! She helped me to create my ‘masterpiece’ with my limited sewing and artistic skills - truly amazing! Imogen is so giving, a wonderful inspiring artist and she also provided the most scrummiest lunch which added to our day. The day went by in a flash, yet we accomplished some fabulous pictures, thank you!
Imogen is an excellent host and teacher. She looked after us straightaway teaching us the process and different options, she was reassuring and extremely helpful. I came away with an amazing piece of work I never imagined I would been able to create. Imogen should also consider going into catering as her lunch was gorgeous!
Basic still life drawing tecniques shown with a view to translating them into textiles but without the need of previous skills in this area. A really informative day where students work on individual themes at their own pace helped where necessary by Imogen who will also encourage you to maybe try things outside of your comfort zone. A pressure free day made even more enjoyable by unlimited coffee, cake and a delicious homemade lunch. I would recommend this course as a way to develop your use of colour and design skills.
Response from Imogen Bittner Studio:Dy's willingness to learn a new technique resulted in an exciting and unique piece of work and her friendly attitude contributed greatly to the relaxed atmosphere of the group.
