"I had a wonderful day , Imogen was inspiring , patient and so easy to be with. Great fun learning to work with all sorts of fabrics. Using a hand machine gave so much more control with fabric manipulation and has inspired me to continue experimenting at home. "

"I had a lovely day too Lavinia! It was so nice to work with you and hear our old machines stitching together. You understood the processes and translated them into a colourful landscape and I am sure that you will be able to take these techniques further and experiment more with your hand sewing machine. "I had a wonderful day with Imogen. Her studio is a relaxing space and she is so friendly and welcoming. Fantastic array of fabrics to choose from and good advice from Imogen on colour and form particularly. Highly recommend. "

Loraine Sherlock reviewed: Textile still life workshop

"This as the third workshop I have done with Imogen and each time I have come away feeling totally inspired having learnt new techniques at each session. Her studio is as welcoming as Imogen herself and a great ‘arty’ space in which to immerse yourself for the day. It is comfortable and warm, and you are surrounded by her beautiful colourful textiles that encourage you to create your own. Imogen is a patient and encouraging tutor, generous both with her materials and time. I would thoroughly recommend her creative workshops as being suitable for both beginners and more experienced crafts people."

Imogen Bittner Studio responded:

"Thank you so much for your warm review Loraine. It was lovely to work with you again and I especially like to see how you continue to develop your ideas and incorporate your own skills into your work even after the course has finished. You produce a very unique and exciting interpretation of your subject matter and I hope you will send me images of your work as you continue to make them.Lovely to see you again!"

Deirdre Tahany reviewed: Textile landscape workshop in Dorset

"A wonderful workshop with an inspirational artist. It was an awful day and we got a little lost. I rang Imogen who stood outside in the wind and rain directing us to The Old Forge. Her studio, in sharp contrast, was warm and cosy. Inspirational textile landscapes and still life compositions covered the walls. I am an indecisive ditherer which can be infuriating however Imogen remained positive and encouraging throughout. The day flew by and although my textile landscape is not finished, thanks to Imogen, I have a selection of fabrics and a clear vision. A 2 day workshop would have been wonderful! Completely forgot to mention the delicious Victoria Sandwich cake that Imogen baked. I would have no hesitation in recommending this workshop."

Imogen Bittner Studio responded:

"Thank you so much for that lovely review! The studio is always cosier in bad weather! I am really pleased you enjoyed the day and feel sure that you have the necessary skills to develop and continue your own work and to have a lot of fun hunting out fabrics in charity shops! I would love to see your finished piece- almost there but the final tweaks are always the most exciting to make. Thank you again for coming so far and making the day so enjoyable."

"I have only just started work on my tree kit. Having decided to sew it by hand, I find it very relaxing as I can sit in my armchair in the same room as my bedbound husband. I love the tree and look forward to more days when I can enjoy this activity. It will inspire me to do more collage work on my favourite subject... trees."

Lots of fabric to choose from and lots of encouragement given. I learnt some different techniques that I shall try out at home. The added bonus was the great cake ( worth going for that alone) and lots of tea and biscuits "

Lovely spacious workroom with a cosy wood burner for those chilly days. I was well supplied with tea, scrummy biscuits and a slice of wonderful cake. It’s worth coming just for the cake?"

Thank you Imogen for renewing my enthusiasm to do creative art."

Kate reviewed: Textile landscape workshop in Dorset

"As a stone mason, this completely different world could have felt completely out of my comfort zone, but not with Imogen at hand! Imogen is the best sort of teacher: available, flexible, encouraging but knowing when to stand back and leave you enough to explore on your own. I absolutely loved it! It was a brilliant, inspiring day, surrounded by Imogen's stunning work, with tea and cake a plenty. I feel confident and excited now, to explore and develop my newly learned techniques, and make my next piece alone. This is a skill and art form which you can do without spending huge amounts on materials and tools, using mostly recycled fabric, easily purchased in charity shops. It was a really rewarding and satisfying experience and I completely recommend it and will be back to do her still life course soon!"

Imogen Bittner Studio responded:

"It was wonderful to work with such a positive and talented person, willing to experiment and try new techniques. I am sure you will go on to produce and develop your work and I really look forward to seeing how your own strong individual style translates into textiles in the future, both in landscape and hopefully, still life!"

"Such an inspirational day - if a little challenging for a novice like me. But Imogen was at hand to encourage and guide me along - thank you so much for a lovely day and for keeping us warm and “watered” in your beautiful studio."

Imogen Bittner Studio responded:

"It was lovely to meet and work with you and I certainly wouldn't describe you as a novice! Your unfamiliarity with the process and subject matter did not stop you producing an interesting and unique piece of work which I look forward to seeing when you have had time to finish it off. Having an open mind and no preconceived ideas often opens up the way to creativity!"
