Ruth Webster reviewed: Weave an alpaca scarf in a day

"I went to Clivewood Alpacas with my 94 year old Mum. We had such a lovely day, Caroline was so kind and patient. We really enjoyed meeting the beautiful Alpacas. It was a wonderful day for me on so many levels, it gave me so much pleasure seeing Mum so happy and engaged, whilst we were both weaving a beautiful scarf in a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, in the great company of like minded people, with the gorgeous Alpacas looking on. Caroline was so generous with her help and advice - and unbelievably creative- we were both in awe of her! Meeting the Alpacas was a wonderful treat in itself. The lunch was delicious. We had our beautiful hand woven scarves to take home- this course was worth every penny, you definitely won’t be disappointed ☺️"

Clivewood Alpacas responded:

"Thank you Ruth, it was a pleasure "

David reviewed: Knife making weekend Gloucestershire

"What a great weekend course! Tiring but thoroughly enjoyable. Arian is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor. I have never really made anything in my life (well not for 50 years!) and I finished this weekend with an extremely sharp knife with a lovely cherrywood handle all in a lovely leather sheath! I totally recommend Arian's course."

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Thank you David for your kind words. I'm delighted that you enjoyed working practically in general, as well as constructing a lovely knife in particular. Glad the sharpness test worked as hoped for! Enjoy your new friend and be in touch with any questions etc. Arian"

Jewel reviewed: Felt Making Paintings

"It was great fun wet felting with Jo who did a superb job of introducing all core elements of this accessibly creative activity. With extensive tutoring experience, she is clearly highly skilled in conveying a wide range of skills inclusive of all abilities. We had light-hearted fun whilst totally absorbed in the endless possibilities of Jo's wide ranging materials, all explained and available to explore. It emerged that Jo had worked across all age-ranges from young children to oldies, accordingly tailoring her approach. I would recommend her for little local groups or whole classes. "

Christine S reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers in Derbyshire

"We were warmly welcomed by Liz to this beautiful and calming studio. I loved starting the day with a summary of lino printing and its place in art history. The workshop was thoroughly enjoyable and very well organised with lovely spaces to work in. Liz was keen to ensure that participants were fulfilled in what they achieved throughout the day. An excellent teacher and facilitator with a warm friendly manner, nothing is too much trouble for Liz. At the end of the day I left feeling inspired to create! I will be back. "

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Christine, Thanks for taking the time to let me know about your workshop at The Slipper Studio. Thank you. It was lovely to re introduce you to this addictive process. It’s a different way of seeing and exploring ideas, but I think you’ll get such a lot from developing your skills and understanding. I think gel plate printing should be your next workshop! Best wishes and happy cutting. Liz Wellby"

Viv Tolley reviewed: Lampshade Making Workshop with Clare Cosens

"I’m definitely not gifted when it comes to any craft skill but Clare is a patient and measured tutor and helps you through every step even when you’re lacking in confidence like me. Maybe my choice of patterned material wasn’t the best for my first attempt and I will be using plain material for my next one. However I am so pleased with the lampshade I made and I would recommend Clare’s workshop. You will leave with a fantastic lampshade and confidence to make more on your own."

Clare Cosens Designs responded:

"Many thanks for taking the time to review my workshop. Your lampshade looked great Viv! You did really well, I’m really pleased that you now have the confidence to make another lampshade. It just takes a little practice to tuck the fabric around the frame. Happy making 🙂"

Georgina Aitken reviewed: Tiffany stained glass wild flowers workshop

"I had a wonderful weekend not only completing this course but also the tiffany tea light course. I achieved a bunch of pretty glass flowers that are now displayed very effectively in a recycled gin bottle I also have a tea light holder that sits proudly next to it sprinkling sparkling light across the table top. Kate the instructor for both days was very knowledgeable, was able communicate and demonstrate techniques and tasks effectively. There was just the right mix between giving practical assistance and standing back and letting you achieve on your own."

Martin McAssey Glass responded:

"Thank you for the lovely review, I'm glad you enjoyed the workshops. We hope to see you back in the studio at some point in the future."
