About the Course
WTF Workshops (facebook: Women Teaching Fabrication) is a pop-up workshop run by two female artisans with a broad range of skills an experience as freelance fabricators in the Arts industry. From Events, Theatre, TV and Film to Retail display.
We offer one day, two day or three days at the WTF workshop.
The first day will start with a health and safety induction, then you will be given a quick intro to metalworking and a look at all the tools and facilities available, then we will be jumping straight in and getting our hands dirty. Throughout the day participants will be shown all the skills and techniques needed in order to complete their chosen project in the time available.
It is a really hands-on style of workshop where everyone will choose their own project and go home having made an item or perhaps several item of original hand made creative metal craft.
There will be a huge variety of interesting pieces of scrap metal to choose from, many of which are included in the course price. Some extra special pieces may cost a little extra, for example, particularly large items, rare items or things like edison bulbs and clock movements.
We will also display mood boards to inspire your designs and help with some suggestions for anyone who has a creative block on the day.
Those choosing to do a two or three day workshop will be given the chance to really practice and get to grips with their new skills and learn more techniques. They will also be shown how to safely set up the equipment by themselves. They will either choose their own project pieces to work on or will be given a choice of projects if they wish.

As a total beginner this workshop proved to be just what I was looking for, providing a safe introduction to the type of tools and techniques available to use in creating metal sculptures. There was plenty of equipment and scrap metal raw materials to choose from, and advice, instruction and creative suggestions were provided when needed to help everyone achieve their chosen metal project. A very enjoyable and productive couple of days....
